We ordered the pastrami sandwich, knish, and matzo ball soup, and every item was delicious. The pastrami was tender and flavorful, the knish was perfectly prepared, and the matzo ball soup was comforting and satisfying. A special shout-out to the complementary coleslaw and pickles--they were absolutely outstanding and complemented the meal perfectly. If you're a fan of classic Jewish Delicatessen food or wanting to try somethong new, Eppes Essen is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back!

Also got up charged for asking to split half ham and half turkey on sloppy Joe instead of just turkey. Which I wasn't told about. $14 is not a children's meal price tag. Joe and I weren't feeling desserty so we split a pastrami hotdog(ripper style). Everything was delicious and with all of the food choices in New Providence, it would have to be. It's a nice, clean shop with a friendly crew and great location on Springfield Avenue. This is your best Union County pastrami spot!

I arrived at 4:22 to discover a poorly handwritten and placed sign on the door under the store hours (making it hard to read) saying they are closing at 4pm. I received a phone call that didn't display the business name and when you cross reference it doesn't show any association with the business from Chatham NJ (they are located in New Providence). They left no message so giving zero indication it was even from them, (technically I still didn't know if it was I'm just being charitable) and to make matters worse the call was made after the business was already closed for that day making it useless to me. I don't care for excuses they'll render under this comment if they ever see this to attempt to make themselves look better, I have all the proof and evidence like I said either theft of services maliciously or through incompetence, nevertheless stay away from them. I will never patronize them again and strongly urge anyone coming across this to do the same.

Goldberg's has been a local staple in Millburn since Tina and Marty Goldberg first opened the doors back in July 1977. The current owners took over in December 2022 and have done a fantastic job keeping the soulful and "old-school" Jewish-style deli spirit alive while making many subtle but meaningful improvements that today's diners expect and appreciate. However, it still has that authentic, "old-school deli" ambiance where you order at the counter then grab a table to wait for your meal and could end up with mismatched silverware. It's charmingly low-key and with a focus entirely on the food. The deli sandwiches are massive and the quality of the ingredients is consistently high. Unfortunately, that also means that the prices are somewhat higher than you might expect. A single deli sandwich served with a small bag of potato chips is in the $20-$22 range, which feels like a bit of a splurge for a casual lunch. That said.. You definitely won't leave hungry and the portion sizes encourage sharing or taking half of your dish home for a second meal. My dining companion and I split the West Orange sandwich, made with corned beef, turkey, russian dression, and cole slaw, on rye bread, which was excellent. We'll definitely be back. PRO TIP #1: Bring your wallet. PRO TIP #2: While they don't have a private lot, there is plenty of on-street parking and municipal lots nearby. Use the mPay2Park app for the pay-by-plate meters ($0.50 per hour). Meters operate Monday through Saturday from 8am to 7pm; all street meters are free after 7 pm and all day Sunday. If the street is full, the Essex Street parking deck (24 Lackawanna Place) is a reliable backup.
