Looking for a Mediterranean lunch and dinner? Here we go! My first time at this place. Recommended by a lot of friends who have tried this place. The food is worth trying and I am a fan already. It's not a big place , but a cosy one with amazing people to welcome you and serve the best food. As you get in , you get seated and we started ordering from the menu. I ordered some stuffed grape leaves, garlic butter shrimp, Adana kabab. Fish mix grill , fries, kazandibi and Turkish coffee. The bread was complementary. The grape leaves was something I wanted to try since forever and it turned out to be an amazing treat. The garlic butter shrimp was perfect for my Indian taste buds, we also loved the Adana kabab with came with this taziki sauce and some rice, the fish mixed grill which came with sauce too, was a bit dry and less on salt and pepper. Dear Yelp, Is it possible to give 5+ stars? Because our meal we just had at Bosphorus was incredible. Let's dive in shall we. My husband had lentil soup, delicious and just the right amount of kick. He followed that with Kibbeh which was wonderful as well. It came with salad. I had the chicken kebab with rice and salad. I could not stop eating it. As such, I am very full but oh so very satisfied. We got chicken salad to go, dressing on the side. Just peeked in the bag and the amount of chicken on the salad is way more than my child can eat so I'll have to help her finish it tomorrow. Oh darn! My husband is a big fan of this and like every week, we come here for our lunch. and we have a fixed order- adana & chicken adana (Combo one-called lunch special) it serves one soup, Hummus, Salad & Drink with the main course the quantity is good for a single person. lamb Adana platter for lunch- one of the most flavorful meals. The Service from the beginning was OUTSTANDING. Very pleasant, and prompt, and we never ran out of water which is AWESOME. Got the table, settled, and ordered the below items Baba ghanoush: this time instead of hummus, went with baba ghanoush. A mix of eggplant, Yogurt - comes with Pita pieces of bread - great, 4.5/5 Garlic Butter Shrimp: so recently I had this item in one of the Argentinian restaurants, there they just serve 6-7 shrimp sauteed in butter and spinach - that's it. Here in Bosphorus - it's small shrimp, full of spices and salad at the side. sumptuous And then our favorites. Adana kebab And chicken Adana Comes with rice and salad. Would recommend, start eating as soon it lands on your table. It tastes great when it's hot. It's on skewers, properly cooked with spices, it's juicy, melting in the mouth- it's too good. I must say I will forever wonder whether they make the bread in house or not. Look at all those holes. So evenly spaced. Is that a bread formatting roller or... I can't even imagine. I will note that the bread here is not really worth it, which is unfortunately the star that breaks the camel's back because the rest of the food is worthy. (I was here with people so did not have a chance to photo more of it). I tried the beyti kebab because it is not a menu item I've ever seen elsewhere. Something different! A nice change of spice from the usual kebab selections elsewhere (like adana), so clearly they are authentic with their spices. They were willing to bring it out with a hot pepper to go with (the spiciest they could get was just that little bite, but it's something) and there was a lot of very tasty food between the meet, veggies, and rice. Desserts are excessively pricy unfortunately and service was a little too slow to justify staying for that as well. I have to say, I appreciate homemade food and delicious entree, so 4 stars wins the day, but there are little bits to work out and do please do something about the bread... hot and fresh is best! read more

This restaurant is very special to me as it's the first place I ever met my in-laws! Back when my now-husband and I were first dating, they took us to one of their favorite restaurants for our introduction, and we have been going back ever since! My in-laws and husband have tried everything on the menu, and we basically end up ordering the same thing every time as a result of their rigorous taste-testing: the lamb kebabs and shepherd salad. Sometimes we go wild and crazy with grape leaves or the appetizer sampler. The restaurant itself is small, so you might want to get a rezzie if you have a large group or are going at a popular time. They don't have a liquor license so you can BYOB, which is a Jersey thing I just love. Service is always impeccable and just so personal. The last time we visited, we came with an older relative who uses a walker, and they were amazing about encouraging our table neighbors to move purses and bags out of the way so she could get through easily and without embarrassment. Get this all the time. New lady on phone messed my order up and gave me chicken gyro instead of lamb gyro. Called to make things good and she didn't seem to care at all. I've had this place saved in my collections for a few days and today we finally decided to order delivery via GrubHub from here. We went with the mixed grill w/ the gyro ($29.95) and a small kunefe ($7.25). The mixed grill comes with a combination of shish, adana, meatballs (kofte), chicken or gyro. Kunefe is a scrumptious dessert with cheese - if you've never tried, you HAVE to have it at least once. Let me tell you - THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE! We shared both of the items and still have some left for tomorrow. The delivery was VERY FAST and the speed honestly caught me by surprise. The meat was very well seasoned, juicy (not dry at all), and DELICIOUS. The kunefe, as I said before, is AMAZING. The small was more than enough for 2 people to share and they have an option to order a large one. OVERALL, the service was extremely fast. The food was all delicious AND the portions are very big. The food was cooked in a very timely manner, especially considering they were just opening. The food is good, made daily, plentiful and the ingredients are fresh! The Sheppard salad is great! We got it without onions and really enjoyed it. I could have finished the large by myself lol, very flavorful. One of these days I will try it with grilled chicken like others have suggested. But, it really is good just as is! The chicken (and lamb) kabobs were good, flavorful, cooked perfectly and a large portion. I definitely have leftovers for tomorrow. My friend and I were looking at restaurant options for Turkish food when we came across Bosphorus. The atmosphere in the restaurant is calm and welcoming, and the wait staff are excellent and well trained. For our meal, we started out with some turkish coffee and babahanus (eggplant salad spread with bread). The coffee is made with care and it tastes delicious, and the babahanus was an excellent starter for two to three people. For our main entree, I ordered the Chicken Adana sandwich, which came with a salad of choice; I picked the shepherd salad, which was very refreshing. The sandwich was excellent; a nice balance of vegetables and meat rolled up in a toasted pita. For the price, it is a great deal. To conclude the lunch, we ordered a portion of baklava. I would be lying if I said that this was not the best baklava I have ever had. It was soft, delicious, and a great way to end a meal. The server also mentioned that their kunefe is a good pick as well. Overall, Bosphorus was wonderful. my only reason for 4 instead of 5 star... I think the price / value is a bit off. But let me say that their food is fresh, delicious and authentic. I have never had a complaint about the food. In fact, the baba ganoush is better that it used to be. I think they tweaked the recipe...it is just right, imho. The Shepherd Salad is absolutely ordered every single time. It is basically the reason I eat there, and I build my order around the shepherd salad. The only thing I keep forgetting to ask them, is to skip the shaker of green stuff (some kind of herbs) that are sprinkled on top of the shepherd. I'm not a big fan of this spice, and I really don't think it enhances the salad at all. But they deserve the business they get, because they serve great food, with friendly service. Bosphorus was one of our go-to places for years, pre-pandemic -- and now, I'm surprised and happy to say, it's even better than before. Shepherd salad is very good, as always. Appetizers such as eggplant salad, stuffed grape leaves, and Sigara Borek are improved. Signature Turkish dishes like gyro kebabs, adana kebabs, and grilled whole bronzini are excellent -- the best we've had outside of Istanbul. The "Sultan's favorite" (a lamb dish with grilled chopped eggplant, mozzarella cheese, and sauteed vegetables) is also excellent. This is a Turkish restaurant. Food is great. California hummus is one of my favorites. Great kebob and falafel also very good. However. Service is weak. We had to ask repeatedly to get water after we sat down. Waiter was looking at his phone the entire time we were in the restaurant. Constantly texting. Even making calls. We had to beg for more water and eventually gave up and ordered soda, which he delivered in the can with a straw. No glass. If you are looking for decent food, this place will fit the bill. I ordered the Shish Kebab dish and was offered fresh Hummus while I waited. (not complimentary). However, the hummus was probably the best I have ever had. (so good, I ordered another to go after eating.) The decor is inviting, clean albeit for smaller groups. My dish came out promptly, a colorful plate of , rice & salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. And like the hummus, I ordered an additional take home plate since where I live there are not a lot of Mediterranean restaurants. We also ordered the mixed appetizer, which is delicious and offers heaping portions of tatziki, hummus, and eggplant. Came here for the second time last night. I really love the food here. Went with a group of 6 of us and it was amazing. I ended up getting the Bosphorus Kabob and it was Delicious! I also tried the Kofte which i have had made before with beef and it was really tasty. Also the first time I've had Turkish coffee and i loved that too!
