Update to be clear; when the owner Scott came out after we first reported the issue we were having, he instructed his employee to loosen the net after he himself could not get it attached properly. Again we said the net was still practically impossible for us to get back on. Scott told us that if the net were loosened anymore it would not be effective so it couldn't be done. So nothing we could do. It still required about 1 hour for 2 strong men and a heck of a lot of effort and work. We just weren't using our pool because it was just to hard to get the net back on. Scott and his team installed our net over three years ago when we first moved out to the East Bay. The netting system is unlike anything I have seen. This is a really elegant solution to uglier (and possibly more expensive) options like a traditional pool cover or barrier fence that would normally cut off full use of your backyard/pool space. The netting let's you see the pool in all it's glory, and it has the added benefit if making it impossible to hide a dead body in the pool when it's "covered" over the winter. The occasional gopher or lizard, however, have met their demise in our pool, but their parents probably neglected to teach them water safety or that trespassing is illegal. Our Pool: We have a kidney/liver-shaped pool. The wall and coping on one side is elevated about 3-4 feet above the waterline. I didn't know of any traditional pool cover that could secure our pool. A barrier fence would just be an eyesore and reminder that we had to cutoff a significant portion of our backyard space to secure the pool. We may as well have just filled the pool and bought a slip'n'slide had we decided on a fence. Safety: We haven't had to worry about our three kids getting into a pool accident when the net is in place (all three are 7 and under as of this review) . The net can definitely support the weight of a child and his bike that have "accidentally" steered onto the pool. While I'm too chicken to test it's limits myself, I'm confident that the netting would support my weight if I were to accidentally ride my children's bikes into the pool. Usage and Maintenance: The net is low maintenance and relatively easy for one person to put on or take off. It does take a little bit of elbow grease to tighten down when putting the net back on, but that's kind of the point. Not too loose that it can be removed by a child. Not too tight that I need to call the Hulk every time we want to use the pool. Scott recently came by to repair a part of the net that was broken (Summer 2019). The broken piece did not affect the overall effectiveness of the net, and he was able to repair the section in minutes. He is great about explaining, in layman's terms, how the net functions and which parts of the net are actually carrying the load under tension if you are interested in all the technical stuff. My biggest concern before moving to our new home was the unsecured pool. I was really uncomfortable with it- and we weren't going to move in until it was safe. I'd looked into various fencing solutions and spoke to representatives/got quotes before speaking with Scott. I was a little skeptical as I'd never really heard of a net for pool security- and I wanted to ensure that the pool was *very well secured* (can't say that enough) and our little guy (a fearless adventurer who couldn't swim) would be safe. Just had Scott install a safety pool net for my parents' pool in Fremont and couldn't be happier with the entire experience. THE SALE I reached out to him in November (via Yelp's Request a Quote tool). He got back to be pretty quickly (same day - next day) via phone, as I left my phone number for him. I was expecting to have to schedule at least 2 appointments: 1 to get measurements and price quote and 2 actual install. But technology these days! Scott asked me to send him the address where the pool is and he was able to get the dimensions via Google Maps and send me a quote. Time saved = Money saved amirite? After I got the emailed quote (with references), I, of course, was still exploring other vendor options. Scott checked in about a week later to see if I had any questions. There wasn't a "hard sale" at any point in our interactions -- I told him I was still figuring out timing/scheduling so I'd get back to him. I bought a new home in Petaluma in May 2013 and we had a pool, but we also had 2 kids under 2 years old, so we needed to cover the pool. Our pool is kidney shaped and has a wall on one side. We would have liked to installed an automatic pool cover, but before we could get any quotes we found it would be impossible to install without doing major renovation to the pool (it probably would have been cost prohibitive as well). My wife researched our options and found a pool net to be our only option. Scott Wilmot, the owner of Baby Proof was very thorough in doing his analysis and providing a quote. He showed up as expected for his job and installed the net in short order with his assistant. I watched the installation and testing of the net, to say the least I was very SKEPTICAL if I would ever be able to take the net on and off by myself. But, Scott was emphatic that with a few quick lessons from him I would be able to put the net on or off anytime in less than 10 minutes or maybe even 5 minutes. Well, two months later the net is VERY easy to take on/off within the expected time frame and it perfectly serves its purpose. I would still have preferred to pay slightly more if it was possible for an automatic cover, but the Baby Proof net has been an EXCELLENT solution so far. One last note, Scott promises very personalized service and will even come back out at no cost if you need the net re-adjusted. Along these lines, I lost the handle/widget which you use to lock in and tighten the net. This is a long overdue review. My husband and I fell in love with and bought a house with a pool. Having never owned a pool, I was admittedly terrified about having one with two kids in the house, especially a 12 month old who was learning to walk. The first purchase we made when we got the keys was the pool safety net. Scott was informative and responsive to all of our questions. This was in early April, right when the pandemic started so everything was getting shutdown. When my wife and I purchased our home 7 months ago, we weren't excited about the pool that came with it. Our daughters were 2 and 4 and not yet watersafe. So, naturally we wanted to babyproof the pool, but didn't know what to do. The first vendor came out and sold me on the idea of a fence. To cover my bases, I contacted Scott Wilmot from Baby Proof for a second bid. He educated me on the differences between pool covers and safety nets. Because pool covers work best on rectangular pools, and aren't generally effective as safety devices (they're more for energy efficiency), we decided to get a pool net. And, because we wanted additional protection for the rare occasions when we have to step away from the pool area when the net is off, we also opted for the pool mesh fence. For our family, the two systems together are the ideal solution. The way I see it: - the pool net is 100% effective 90% of the time (it's off 10% of the time when we swim). - the pool mesh fence is 90% effective 100% of the time (since our girls might get through an open gate ~10% of the time). As an added aesthetic benefit of the pool net, the pool remains beautiful during both the day and night. As for the pool fence, the location where the crew installed the fence partitioned the yard in a crisp natural way. While Scott informed me of the benefits of going with a 6' fence, we opted for a 5' fence. Scott was right. As it turns out, 6 months later, our oldest daughter grew and figured out how position her bicycle next to the gate so that she could stand on it to open the gate herself! I called Scott and he promptly remedied this problem by coming back and installing a raised gate latch free of charge. Baby Proof does excellent work! We had Scott install the pool net a few years back. Definitely glad we did it as we feel much safer with it covering our pool. We have 2 toddlers that run around everywhere in the yard. We feel safe knowing that we have the pool net protecting the pool when our kids are back there. They have never attempted to go on the net but we did have a friend's toddler run on top of the net to the middle of the pool and back with no problems. Thank goodness we had the safety net on! Maybe a year into having the net, we did experience some breakage in the ends of the net. The first time it happened, we called Scott out. It took him some time to respond at first and come out (hence the 4 star and not 5). He did eventually fix. When it did happen again, he was much more responsive and came out to repair as soon as he was able. Overall we are glad we spent the money in getting the pool safety net installed. Would definitely recommend having this on your pool -- especially if you have kids in your home. read more

We couldn't be happier with this safety net! We have two granddaughters who visit regularly and their safety in our backyard in our primary concern. But the really awesome part about the pool safety net is that is doesn't impact the aesthetic of our landscaping. We enjoy our backyard daily and often entertain there. We like the fact that the pool can be seen but isn't a danger to anyone. Their customer service is top-notch. We recently added a puppy to our family who thought the net was a lovely teething toy. Luckily, Scott warranted the work and repaired the breaks FOR FREE! Only a locally-owned company with compassion as well as quality products would do that. A good review includes a comment or two that are less than glowing, so I'll say this. There's a learning curve involved to get comfortable with the removal and reinstallation of the net. I recommend videotaping the installer so you can use that for reference. read more

After having a pond built in our backyard, we decided to have a safety net installed over the pond. After doing a great deal of research, we ended up calling Scott Wilmot at Baby Proof Pool Safety Systems. He came out, with another member of his crew and installed the netting system in a 1/2 day. It's an amazing system that provides us with piece of mind and it is very easy to use. We can't say enough about Scott and his team. On the day of installation they were efficient, neat and informative. More recently, we had a question about the system, so Scott came out himself and fixed our problem, with no charge for his time!
