Fast forward to today and it's almost 2 years of poolside living! Project Manager Orlando and his various crews were all responsive, professional, and always available. With all the supply chain and labor issues, Orlando kept on top of it all and got us the pool of our dreams. Orlando became my personal therapist at various times n the process! Excellent pool renovation, and Tony (the project manager) was so incredibly professional, knowledgeable and caring.

Well, I wish that I read these yelp reviews before I ever met with anyone from Unique Pools. I received a bid from David to refurbish the coping and the tile work around our pool approximately four months ago. when we decided to move forward with them, David came back out to confirm some measurements for the materials and drop off some samples. After about a week of waiting for a deposit to be paid and materials to be purchased, David asked to have a call with us to bring up some challenges that he discovered well into the signed contract and materials ordering process. Long story short, David and the owner Brian and some coping specialist named Abel (I believe) determined that our project scope and the challenges with our existing concrete border around the coping were too difficult to honor their original bid. I asked for a simple revised bid reflecting the additional cost to make the side concrete all new to match what they recommended in order to make the coping and tile work with our plans. After coming out and spending two hours on measurements and additional pictures, David took about one week to reach out and say that they no longer wanted to bid the project out. when asked to have them just make the simple repairs to the tile that had fallen off over years of erosion as well as reattach some of the coping stones, they said that the project was too small for them and they wanted us to go with another company. Six months later, we are back to square one and looking for another Pool refurbishment company. I can't recommend avoiding this company and Brian the owner more. Avoid it all costs, because any savings in the bid will be eaten up by change orders and time delays as they make excuses time and time again. The reality is that they probably do a great job with new Pool installations when you're starting from scratch, but these guys have no business touching remodel projects for pools or patios or anything of the like. Further, they advertise in every local remodel and construction magazine around the Bay Area with fake phone numbers for each area to lead you to believe that they have teams everywhere, when we're in reality, they're hiring subs and not managing them. Just making sure they're getting the best possible price so they can make the most money off of you. I wish that these companies that take their money for these advertisements would stop allowing them to advertise locally when they are nothing close to a local company. read more

ABSOLUTELY AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Unique Pools installed the pool at our house less than 3 years ago and it is already leaking. The pool is not level on two different sides with one being off level by 3in. We have gotten multiple second opinions and inspections all saying they can't believe how poorly this pool was built. Unique Pool Finishes did a great job. We had our pool replastered and installed a new control panel/web to use with cell phones. Tod was our salesman. He answered all our questions. He made sure we were happy. The working crews were professional, friendĺy and cleaned up when done. Jose, the owner came out and checked the work done. He explained everything to us. Alright, this review is long overdue. Only because it took a bit to finish up our pool. When we started the pool building research, we came across 4 companies for estimates. Unique pool was in the middle for pricing and was comparable to the other companies. But what struck me was the feeling of instant customer service. Bryan first came out to look at our yard and do some measurements. We instantly connected and he knew my vision for the backyard. He's very friendly and responsive. He also knows his stuff. Our town is super strict with construction permits, and I'm pretty sure other companies would have quit on us. The communication back and forth was on point. Although with Covid literally the whole California tried to build a pool, never did I feel ignored. Orlando, the project manager was the go-to person for questions and concerns. He was always responsive. I would say I was pretty annoying as an owner with tons of requests and constant calling, but with such a project like building a brand new pool, Orlando was calm and knowledgeable. Unique pools is lucky to have him. I got to know every team that came to our home from masonry, pavers, to plumbers. They were all great workers. I think they have a great group that all work well together. All in all, great company to work with. The pool looks fantastic and I can't wait to spend endless summer days and nights out in the back. The worst company with the most hated men of all time. They lied all the time. They postponed the agenda all the time. They were sloppy all the time. Orlando was perhaps the worst: nice in front of us but disrespectful on the phone or by text. Bryan LOZIER, the owner, only showed up once, just to take measurements and probably to estimate the job based on the area we live in. If I could give 0 stars I would. After my pool was completed I had an inspector come check and everything was wrong. Pipes were not up to code. Corners were cut without telling me. I was charged for materials that were clearly not used. They were unresponsive during the build and made every excuse to not respond or finish their job. They put open electrical lines next to an unfinished pool and said it was safe to use in the meantime. Just completed a Pool and Spa remodel with Unique pool and couldn't be happier. They added a Baja shelf to our pool, a waterfall edge to our Spa that empties into the pool and included a new wireless control panel (which is awesome) to control the pool, spa and yard lights from my phone. They were also able to install a gas firepit for us to complete the yard. Tony and Amador were great to work with and they coordinated seamlessly with the other contractor we had working on the yard at the same time. Just finished a pool remodel. The good- the finished product clearly shows craftmanship; generally stayed on schedule; resolved issues including some mistakes i made fairly and well. There really isnt a not so good rather there are some lessons learned that would be valuable for most given we likely dont one remodel. Here are my lessons learned: go over all details of what is homeownwer responsibility with the project manager- i skipped this step due to an unfortunate family issue which led to some mis-understanding; have your decking/landscaper have meet directly with your pool contractor at the start of the project to make sure there is a meeting of the minds- this will make life easier down the road. Specifically worked with orlando who was invaluable in finalizing design / material selection as well as amador who kept the project moving. All I can say is do your homework. Pool renovations is a big project and can be very costly to say the least. I too went and received many pool estimates but Bryan had a very compassionate and easy going way about him. I loved his ideas and listening skills of what I was looking for. As with any construction project there are always issues. Bryan was very good at the beginning to answer any concerns I had with the project and believe me there were many. After 5 months the project was completed and I had a remodel pool with a beautiful water feature fountain. As well as a built in barbecue, fire pit, patio area with stamped concrete. By the end of that summer that's when the problems started. The concrete started to crack in several areas. The salt water system equipment malfunctioned. But the biggest issue was my beautiful water fountain cracked along the length of the pool. It was the focal part of my pool/backyard. Everyone would compliment on the fountain. After paying more than $50,000 my backyard was in trouble. That's when Bryan stop returning my messages. After looking for other contractors, the estimates were outrages($20,000) to fix the problem. I had one contractor that gave me some sound advice. He told me that Unique Pools(Bryan) is obligated to fix the problem and that if he ignore the situation that I should file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well as Contractors State License Board. Well I gave Bryan a second chance and by emphasizing what I was going to do Bryan called me the next day and agreed to take care of the issue. Well that should be the end of the story but it's not. This was in June of 2020. We are now in November 2020 and the work is not completed. Let me tell you it started fine with the agreement to fix the fountain but how it was going to be repaired was not going to work. Unique Pools was going to patch up the crack and not deal with the real issue. The fountain was much too heavy for the pour they did and needed to be reinforce from the back side with rebar and more concrete. In other words Unique Pools needed to start from the beginning and remove the fountain and rebuild it. Well Bryan refused to do that and was only going to do a patch job. I knew from getting estimates from 3 other pool companies that this was not going to work. So the problem I saw was that if Bryan did the patch job the fountain would continue to crack. Since Bryan refused to rebuild the fountain I suggested to remove the fountain and make it into a sun deck with some sheer descents going into the pool. Bryan agreed. Next issue was the sun deck. Bryan was going to pour concrete along the top where I had travertine border that was beautiful. I wanted travertine so it would match the existing travertine. So I had to compromise and pay $750 for the travertine. They ruin my fountain and now I have to pay for the travertine. As of today I notice a crack in the pool below where the fountain was removed. Bryan refuses to fix the crack even though the crack was not there before they started demo. I am at a standstill with Bryan and Unique Pools. I have sent a final email to Bryan that I will not pay for the travertine and I have filed a complaint with Contractors State Licence Board as well as the BBB. Be careful read more

After talking to about 5 different pool company's we went with unique pools. And we have been happy with our choice. We have enjoyed our pool all summer. Unique finished our pool in about 60 days ( we had a finish day clause written into our contract ( I would highly recommend doing that ). We had a few issues that came up along the way with some staircase walls Stan who ran our job was a pleasure to work with. He alway retuned my call and would work to remedy our concerns as they came up. Stan would ask how We would like to remedy our issues along the way and work on making that happen he was very good about listening to what we wanted to do. Stan was very good about doing what he could to make us happy. I would recommend asking for him to run your project! The biggest issue is this company requires all monies in cash to "avoid a paper trail" (per owner, Bryan Lozier). It should be noted that this arrangement isn't disclosed until after the contract is signed. This is unethical and brings up many red flags.  The communication with the owner was less than clear.  -We asked for a salt water pool. When we reviewed the contract with Bryan, I specifically asked if the equipment listed was for a salt water pool to which he replied, "oh, yes." Then, when the pool equipment was being installed, we asked about the salt container and were told, you need to call Bryan. Salt water pool was not included in the list asked about.  -We were also told that the tractor to excavate would show up on Wednesday, instead, when we came home on Tuesday the gate was cut down and there was a tractor in the backyard. No securement device placed for the animal in the back yard.  -When starting the shared fence repair, no communication was provided to us so that we could give our neighbor a heads up. Needless to say, we had to deal with very cranky neighbors due to the lack of communication. -Bryan does not answer his business cell phone so we had many conversations via text messages. When we would text Bryan with specific questions, his answers were vague or didn't address the original question. One time we were told that he "turns his business phone off on the weekends," however, he would answer the questions that he wanted to answer and not the one asked.   -Last, but not least, the concrete that was poured around the pool now has a large, deep crack in it. Prior to the pour, we asked about expansion joints since this new concrete would be poured up against the concrete slab foundation. Bryan reassured us that this wasn't necessary as the concrete had "room to expand between the edge of the concrete and fence." Less than 30 days later, here we are with a significant crack in the brand new concrete. I would like to see this remedied but will not be giving Unique Pools any more of my money. read more

I was really excited to use Unique Pools. Bryan came out to the house in late July, listened to my ideas and drew up a plan. I was sent renderings and a video of the plan on August 29th and spoke to Cristine about a few changes I asked about. it looked awesome and I could not wait to get the bid and get started. Now two months have passed, I have left no less than 10 messages, spoke to the office manager a number of times with him saying someone would call. This company built a swimming pool for me last year. It was not completed on time, several sub-contractors and the owner Bryan Lozier, were unprofessional, unreliable, and unethical. The pool and spa leaked and it took several weeks to get the owner to respond. The spa still leaks. The owner, Lozier, posted pics of my yard on his website and in his advertisements without my permission. He refused to remove them and insulted me with profanity after I asked him not to use them.
