Okay, sharing this since I've seen a few people asking about handymen lately! I wasn't sure about Honey Homes for a while. But we signed up 2 months ago after doing their free trial and so happy we did it. It's been really great so far. We've had the same guy (Jaime) so he already knows our house and just gets to work no having to re-explain everything or chase anyone down. Honey Homes reached back out and offered a few free hours and let me know the last handyman was no longer with the company. Sergio arrived promptly and was communicative and prepared to complete some of the tasks i listed. With only 30 minutes left he asked if there was anything else he could do, and stayed a few extra minutes finishing up the final task. He was also very considerate and cleaned up the best he could afterward. Overall, was very pleased with Sergio's services so I am updating my stars. Honey Homes' business model works if you have a lot of small less urgent or recurring tasks. For my needs personally, I prefer to get all projects completed at once within a day or two, rather than in 2 hour increments, so unsure if I will continue with a subscription for that reason. read more

Not worth the money. The business model means you're managing the time of your handyman and spending energy / time coordinating maximizing packing things into a 'visit'. This means you have to have tasks that neatly fit into 1 hour and 45 minute intervals, or you're wasting money. That would probably be acceptable to some if the service was great and the handymen were well vetted, one of the core promises of this service. That was not the case in my experience. My first handyman spent 1.5 hours messing up mounting a TV and didn't complete the task. He later texted me asking me for photos of his work and to ask for the visit to be comped, since the amount of work completed was not really close to $200 worth of work. His successor was faster and more efficient, but hampered IMO by the business model. He spent another 1.5 hours finishing that tv mount and mounting one more mirror. My next visit was a 3 hour visit consumed by repainting the mantel under the tv mount which was messed up during the mounting (not entirely their fault, it wasn't properly painted to begin with but was also not really messed up before the tv mount attempts...), and opening a wall in my gym to check for water damage. This is where IMO the business model and weaker comms broke down and really made me question if this was worth the money. Because it was near the end of the visit, the wall was haphazardly closed and looks awful right now. I was not consulted before starting this work and had other smaller jobs on the task list for the day that were probably more appropriate for the time remaining. So all in all, after 4 visits I had: - 1 tv mounted - 1 mirror mounted - Paint messed up during the tv mount fixed - A halfway done check on wall moisture that left the wall in an ugly and unsightly state. This all added up to $600 dollars worth of work. To me that's not really adding up, ESPECIALLY because I prepaid close to 2.1K for all of this! Additionally, when I requested a call to ask for a refund, I did NOT get a call and instead had to call the support line. They cancelled my service, but now ten days later I still haven't gotten my money back. When I emailed, I got a new receipt from THEIR system just now, implying my refund wasn't processed for an entire ten days and ONLY happened now because I was vigilant and complained. So now I'm stuck waiting again for their payment processor to actually refund me a PARTIAL refund for this awful experience. What an absolute mess. Save yourself the trouble and just go find a normal handy person you can trust. They won't force you to fit tasks to preset timeslots and honestly are probably just as vetted as the service you'll get here. read more

Honey Home handyman application brush off "boilerplate" answer with discriminatory undertones, all from a "no-reply" email address? This is a bit of a lengthy post as I want to share some general details here that should be known. I'm an [active] licensed (Gen. B) contractor in San Francisco. I have a reputable track record, references and a reputation to proof all. I'm BBB A+ rated. A family hiatus and the Covid lockdowns took me out of the loop for a few years. Trying to restart and get back into the business I feel like I suddenly stand "naked" in front of "Mount Everest." Last week I contacted Honey Homes because they were looking for a "lead handyman" in SF and advertised such on Craigslist. I filled the application and submitted it. I got a call back a couple days later. The phone interview was awkward, apparently read off a script by a person who likely couldn't qualify themselves answering any of the asked simplistic questions or have any practical experience therein. Three simplistic naïve questions apparently was enough for them to determine that I'm not qualified. Believe it or not, that's what I was asked by the female interviewer with a rather girly somewhat "Karen" sounding voice: What's a three way switch? What's the white wire? What's the green wire for? etc. Something that a lot of people who handyman around on a home likely know. If you're a licensed contractor you know that in your sleep of course without having to refer to i.e. the NEC code book! (I have wired whole homes and passed inspection) Nothing else was asked; no other qualifications, experience, expertise, no asking for references, samples of work done etc. Nothing. Lots of Silicon Valley "do actually nothing but 'apps'", "schedule A,B,C financing round 1,2,3" startups have popped up like mushrooms for just the money but have no clue about any trade and the realities but have hijacked the entire potential client base milking and bilking, many of them in gross violations of CA CBP code. All of them like the good old Mafia style; you "have to pay them to stay in business". But the insults don't even stop there. One of the most laughable reply arguments I read somewhere, probably on reddit, was by the business owner of Honey Homes claiming the application interview is done by licensed contractors... So a couple of days ago I got a Honey Home handyman application brush off "boilerplate" blah blah auto reply answer with discriminatory BS undertones, all from a "no reply" email address. Just signed up today. Michaela was great helping me get my app setup as well as helped me sort out timing of walkthrough so that I could get some work knocked out right away! Honey do Items that were languishing for too long finally got knocked out today in just under an hour!!! This included fixing a clogged drain, tightening an outlet that was loose, swapping light switch places that had always bothered me, fixed an outlet that stopped working. Montana, the handyman that was assigned to us was professional and friendly. He even took the time to show me how to remove the drain from the funky sink. He also took the care to vacuum and clean up the space after he created debris when working on the light switch. I loved that they also take the time to wear booties over their shoes. End of June 2026 Update to Review: Since my 6/14/26 review, Honey Homes headquarters scheduled a final visit to finish my fence project, which was much appreciated. They sent a new handyman over who got 95% of the project done (he did not replace some slats that are not too visible from my yard, still it would have been nice for the project to be 100% done but I am satisfied). The new handyman was a pleasure to meet with - nice guy. I changed my star rating from 2 to 4 stars. I would consider re-joining the service down the road but plan to go it alone with handyman services for a while to see how the cost and convenience stack up to HH. Also, when I wrote the original review, it slipped my mind that HH did one other successful project, which was installing smart locks. My advice remains the same for those who are using the service -- try to use (most of) your hours early on. With limited staffing in the Bay Area, expect weeks and even a month between available appointments on the app. read more

I signed up for Honey Homes in Sep 2024 on the idea of having a consistent handyman who could help with items around the house. My overall experience has been fairly negative, and it is not something I could recommend to anyone else. Like with many things, who your actual handyman is critical. My first one, Sam, had a focus on doing things quickly not well. He caused problems starting all the way back in September that Honey Homes still has not been able to fix. He tried to fix a sliding door that he was not familiar with and ended up jamming the locking mechanism, leaving the door stuck in an open position. He tried to replace weather stripping for a door I had but was not able to find the correct size weather stripping so then replaced it with a size which was too big. which makes it quite and eye sore and also now prevents the door from being able to close properly. Lastly, a simple latch mechanism on an outdoor door he had issues with (it was not lining up properly), and I had to stop him before he made the problem worse. I switched handyman from Sam to Tyler who was much better. He was able to fix the sliding door issue. He was able to fix the latch on the outdoor door. However, he tried to find the replacement weather stripping back in December, and I still have no response from him. It is now 3 months later. Honey Homes is supposed to have a team to find replacement parts but this operation has been very poor. In the interim, Tyler has not shifted to another role so I now have a new handyperson, Clint, my third in the 6 months I have started with Honey Homes. The weather stripping is still not fixed and I feel like many of my scheduled meetings has been used to just try and fix the initial problems that Sam, the first handyman caused. Very frustrating experience with Honey Homes and not something I would recommend to anyone else. read more

First off, this IS the BEST thing since Sliced Bread (no really!). As a single parent there are so many jobs around the house that have not been completed. We've been Honey Homes subscribers now for a few months and have found the service to be a no brainer bang-for-your-buck in our new home. It's a flat rate with two monthly visits (or you can have it combined for a bigger project). We have been able to install multiple outdoor Ring cameras, upgrade to a smart thermostat, upgrade to a smart lock, install a barn door, a new chandelier, put together furniture (like my kids' bunk bed) and just an array of other things throughout the house. I'm quite the handy man myself, but having a consistent professional through this service to lean on has been a blessing for projects I'm not totally comfortable with or frankly have little time to do. Sounds good in theory-- who doesn't want to save time and (potentially) money?! I also like the idea and get the appeal of a dedicated handyman. The first initial walk-through was okay-- our handyman was on time (which is great! Being on time is surprisingly rare these days) and nice and polite. However, the walk-through ended up being quite confusing regarding what Honey Homes would actually be able to do and what they wouldn't be able to cover. For example, I wanted to power wash my windows and front steps. Our handyman said something about how we can add this additional service (~$350 extra) to our membership fee. I'm most definitely NOT going to pay extra for services on TOP of subscribing to any membership-based service BEFORE I have some actual concrete evidence on work quality. Also, I was able to quickly get quotes that are less than the ~$750 ($350 "extra fee" + $400 monthly fee) it seemed it would cost me to power wash my steps and windows ‍. This confusion isn't necessarily the fault of our handyman-- I simply think Honey Homes's current services are super confusing at the moment, and they really need to clarify what services are covered and not, as well as be SUPER CLEAR on the ENTIRE process and what EXACTLY to expect-- e.g., I know the initial walk-through is free, but do we pay for the first actual onsite visit PRIOR to the actual visit being done? (the answer is Yes-- you have to subscribe to the membership BEFORE you have any actual work done). Supposedly, one can get a refund if one is not satisfied with the work, but I am personally not comfortable with this kind of commitment (even if it's monthly subscription) prior to any actual evidence. I personally really value transparency, and don't really like the feeling of being hoodwinked or blindsided, even if it's not their intention. Additionally, and this just me personally, but I am immediately turned off by any "salesy" types of services or interactions. I don't need you to keep telling me how much money I will save and how the annual subscription is worth it-- I can determine that myself with the information I have, thank you :). Finally, Honey Homes called me, emailed, and texted me multiple times to follow up. Like many others, I'm super busy and am already bombarded with multiple pings and emails and calls and notifications all day-- I simply don't want to deal with any additional ones. The ultimate goal for me is to lessen the cognitive load, effort, and time required to handle all household tasks. Anything super confusing and complicated is not for me, especially if the service is supposedly aimed at simplifying the whole process? TLDR-- nice in theory, and I genuinely could really see it working for someone who doesn't mind having to ask for more clarification, committing to a membership-based service prior to any actual work done, and taking the time to schedule, follow up, and deal with their numerous pings and calls. I'm trying to make my life easier, and simply don't have the bandwidth and time for this right now. I will stick to Taskrabbit for now! P.S.: I genuinely wish the team the best of luck-- I think the concept is great in theory. I absolutely am blown-away with how quickly tasks that have been on my list for FOREVER have been checked off by the Honey Homes professionals. In my year with them, I've worked with three different handypeople and they are so experienced and helpful. Even when there were tasks we didn't know how to tackle, the handyperson did their due diligence in sourcing help from other handypeople and other resources. They've done everything from little things --routine filter changes/cleaning, hanging artwork, & small patch jobs -- to larger things [removing an old home security system, replacing a closet light ballast, & installing a smart thermostat]. We signed up with Honey Homes a few months ago and I am beyond pleased with the experience. It's easy to hire a company to replace your roof but impossible to find someone to take on a small job repairing things around our house. The Honey Homes concept is awesome! We pay a yearly subscription and they send a handyman to our house whenever we need something done. We get 42 hours over a one-year period to schedule as we want, in 1.5 or 3 hour blocks. Honey Homes employs the workers so they have a full-time job with benefits. I love that! And Hector, our dedicated handy-man, is friendly and efficient. We always look forward to his visits. He has installed a new shower curtain rod and grab bars for the shower, fixed a toilet, repaired little holes and cracks in the walls, cleaned out the dryer duct, and several other chores we couldn't do. I feel good knowing these things are taken care of. He just power-washed our patio and it's gone from black to light gray, like concrete should be. I didn't realize how bad that dirty patio made me feel until I saw it clean! read more

OMG HoneyHomes handyman service is THE BOMB! I am addicted to my personal handyman Bill and his colleagues. This all started with a rotting deck step. This winter's rain caused my deck step to sit in a pool of water, and after over 20 years with no issues, the step rotted in a matter of weeks. I tried to find a handyman to fix the step. HA! Good luck finding someone to do this small job quickly, and with adequate insurance. A neighbor recommended Honey Homes, so I requested a free visit and walk through at my home. By the end of the visit I had subscribed for the year!! Bill is at my home just about every two weeks. If he's not available his colleagues come. They have replaced aging closet door hardware (no more yanking and slamming pantry doors!!), fixed and improved the deck steps, painted the backyard fence, replaced ceiling fan, demolished and removed old garden structures, replaced screens in doors, realigned sliding doors/locks, repairing stair rails, replacing motion detectors, repairing exterior lighting, and on and on and on.
