While on one of our many trips to Edwardsville to hang out with our college friends, they casually recommended we try out Annie's for some sweets and delights. Next thing I knew, we were hopping in a car with our hangovers and hitting the road. Annie's, from what I remember, is like any other town's ice cream shack that is open year round. They offer your quick but yummy food options, such as: hot dogs, custard, sundaes, pie, and various other sweets. During our visit, we all snagged a few small things. Nursing some hangovers, we all gravitated towards the greasy offerings versus the cold stuff. Chili dogs were what we picked and snacked on, except for the one friend who was feeling 110%. She got some ice cream to go. The chili dog was decent but nothing to write home about. It definitely hit the spot. As for the interior, I don't remember much about it. The little that I do recall doesn't strike me as overly impressive but also not lacking. There were tables to sit at and ample room should it be busy during the summer hours. I wish I could have more to put in this blog post but since this was the only time we came here and it was after a fun night, this is all about it. Also, sadly, my friends have moved away from Edwardsville, but that doesn't mean I won't try to swing by it again on my way to St. Louis some day. The Good: The pretzels are reasonably priced, especially the combos. For $4, you can get 3 pretzels or a dozen pretzel "nuggets" (some places call them pretzel bites.) Add another $2 and you get a choice of 3 dipping sauces and a 16 oz. drink. So, for $6 plus tax and tip, you will have enough for a meal. They also have mini pigs in a blanket (cocktail weeniest inside a pretzel) and cinnamon versions. The pretzels were fresh and hot and PLENTY for my appetite. Not so Good: The place was very smokey- not sure if they had burned something or perhaps they need commercial vents? It's carry out so I wasn't in there that long. The parking lot is hard to get in and out of due to the location at two very busy roads. Nothing they can do about that. IMO comments: I didn't care for the cheddar cheese sauce - it reminds me of the canned stuff they give you with nachos at the ball park. Lastly, the pretzels had a "sheen" on them but I like mine buttered - the way they are offered at other pretzel places. All in all, decent pretzels and fair prices!

The three of us got a traditional milk boba tea, a whipped dalgona coffee boba drink, an apple cinnamon taiyaki, and a Nutella taiyaki (the spouse ordered a red bean paste so I wouldn't steal any bites, but, lucky me, they gave us a Nutella by mistake). EVERYTHING was delicious! The spouse was familiar with taiyaki, but the two I tried were my firsts. They nearly melted in my mouth, they were so perfectly cooked. I got my whipped dalgona at 25% sweetness, and it was perfect. The kiddo's milk tea tastes on Earl Gray, and it was buenísimo, too! I want that next time. I can't wait to come back.

Tried the cinnamon roll after church the next day. Only ate half because they too are large! Both were delicious. Definitely worth the stop!! Not far off the interstate so worth a short detour!
