It's two decades later and my nephew is graduating from high school. Where did the time go?! In front of the guests at his party sits a beautiful cake, decorated with a rolled up diploma and plastic graduation cap, along with a dozen perfectly iced German Chocolate cupcakes. Oh my gosh, I am so thankful the place we got married recommended Wedding Wonderland. From the moment we walked in to taste test cakes, we were impressed. They are the friendliest vendor we dealt with while planning our wedding. We had a 4 tier cake and every layer was absolutely delicious. So for our largest two layers we chose the white with strawberry filling... it was amazing. Most wedding cakes are either dry or way too sweet... this cake was perfect, in my honest opinion. All of our family kept raving about the cake too. We also had the marble with fudge for some chocolate lovers, and then the carrot cake with cream cheese filling (special request of the groom). Both were excellent. I would say the only think I was disappointed in was that I called ahead to let them know I was coming in two weeks from my wedding to finalize the flavors and design and the lady on the phone failed to mention to bring my cake topper... Now, maybe I should've just remembered to do that, but I truly didn't know that they needed it in advanced and that they would bring it to the venue. I would have been a little more annoyed if I had to have made a second trip but to Florissant but thankfully my Stepdad who works nearby dropped it off for me. Either way, I think it's important they let their customers know that before they make the drive to them. All in all...my cake my beautiful, delicious, and they did exactly what I was envisioning. Nearing the last minute (as far as ordering goes), I decided to get a groom's cake for my husband. I search photos long beforehand for music themed cakes and couldn't find what I wanted. He's a trumpet player, and all you can usually find are guitars and snare drums - lame. Well, about a month before the wedding, I finally found a picture of a trumpet cake and absolutely had to have it done for our wedding! Wedding Wonderland to the rescue! I brought pictures in of the cake I found as well as logos to shows, bands, and organizations my husband has been a part of. I wanted a replica of the cake (a trumpet sitting in a case with lid propped open) but also wanted to ad "decals/stickers" to the lid of the case of those orgs. They were genuinely excited about getting to do this design for me and were very helpful in getting things in order. Downsides: They don't deliver groom's cakes, so I did have to get my in-laws to pick up the cake between the ceremony and reception. And it's not really their fault - it's the way you make 3D cakes - no fillings and tons of frosting (including fondant - gross). The cake itself was red velvet and tasty, but 3D cakes are generally those cakes that make you say "OMG, this is the best cake I've ever tasted." For our wedding reception we ordered our cake from here. The staff is very friendly and helpful, you don't need an appointment to taste/order your cake. They have lots of displays and the staff worked with us in designing our own cake. I had my wedding back in August of 2009 with a gorgeous 3-tier cake done by the fabulous Wedding Wonderland staff, and people are STILL talking about how great it was. As my 3 year anniversary is coming up, I was looking at pictures of the cake and still feel like it was the most gorgeous cake I could have ever chosen. We had chocolate with strawberry filling for two of the tiers and lemon with lemon filling for the other tier, so my husband and I both got to have our favorite kind. At the tasting, the staff were very friendly and brought plates for me and both my mom and brother who came along. At the reception following the cake cutting, the top tier was at the Bride and Groom table when my wild 4 year old pulled the tablecloth down, totally ruining their anniversary cake (insert hand-to-forehead emoji). Though the couple insisted we let it go, we decided to replace the top tier for them. I called today and the process could not have been easier! Tyler was understanding and super quick to pull up their info - he almost-instantly gave me a price, delivery info, and when I called back to confirm (I had to make sure someone would be present to accept the delivery), I spoke to Lisa who was just as professional and helpful. A little pricey for my taste, but plenty of style options and really easy tasting process. You show up at the store without an appointment, and they give you a form with all their flavors. Pick three combinations of cake and filling, and they'll bring out a taste of each for all the people in your group. We came with my parents and my future in-laws, so it was a lot of free tastes and made for a great group experience. Ended up getting a 3-tier cake for ~120 with a kitchen cake from Schnucks. Flavors were chocolate with raspberry and red velvet with cream cheese. Was delicious. The cake stand rental is expensive, but when we brought a DIY cake stand (square wood cutting board on a 2x4 base stained to match) they allowed it and we avoided the extra cost. The pluses: you do not have to have an appointment, you can try any of the flavors, everything you can order is pretty much on view. It can seem a bit cheesy but they have some great cakes available at a huge range of costs, you can even see the ones that are going out for that week/weekend (they fridges are see through). I'm a little late on this review since our wedding was almost a year ago. We ended up with WWcakes because they had a package with Orlando's to do cakes for them. You don't have to make an appt. to try out samples and the samples are very moist and good. A lot of display cakes in the store and on their website. They don't do fondant icing or they didn't then. The people were very friendly. My only downfall is the color of my cake wasn't exactly what I wanted-it was more of a smurf blue than a navy blue and the cake was drier the day of the wedding than their samples. It is so cheesy! It is a circus of awful cakes. The samples we had were terrible. I had tasted great cakes at a real bakery and I wanted my cake to come from the great bakery. Unfortunately the man I am marry had Wedding Wonderland bake the circus wedding cake for step- daughter 10 years and he wanted us to get our cake there. I told him I would go there just to look but I planned to buy the cake at the great bakery. He was smitten by the circus cakes at Wedding Wonderland. So I'm preparing for a wedding and if you ever had to do it yourself then you know how stressful it can get. The last thing you want is any of your wedding venders to make things harder for you. I called and asked how late they were open on a Friday and the person said 8pm so I got there at 5pm. It took me about a HOUR to get there since I had to deal with rush hour traffic and because I was coming from south county. We arrived right at at 5 on to discover they were closed my fiancé and I both made eye contact with the people inside and they looked at us and walked away. I understand that if they were closed there closed. But we got there late because one of their employees told us the wrong time ! why couldn't they open the door and tell us that they were closed at least instead of deliberately ignoring us . My fiancé called later that night and talked to the owner mike and all he had to say was that the guy he talked to on the phone earlier made a mistake and that they couldn't open the doors because they had other things to do. Just don't waste your time with them. There are so many other bakery's around St. Louis that are amazing and actually care about their customers. read more

The only complaint is the ribbon, which I understand Navy looks really dark, but the ribbon on the cake looked Black not navy.. The owner reach out to me and corrected the mistake the Lisa made. Not only did they make the cake but it was exceptional. On July 25th, I placed an order for a Birthday Cake with Wedding Wonderland. Had great communication the first couple days and said I would pay with credit card over the phone. On Saturday, July 29th, I had not heard anything about the pricing after I sent the picture. I then received an email at 4:48 pm. I replied to that email at 5:15 pm. On Tuesday, August 1st, I email them again to inquire when I should pay since I needed the cake for Friday, August 4th. Lisa replied back that since I replied on Saturday after the shop was closed, they could not make this cake for my sons 21st Birthday. Now I am left trying to scramble to get a 21st birthday cake. I am very disappointed with this considering I reach out to the company in the requested amount of time. Also, why didn't they reply to my email from Saturday informing me on Monday that they couldn't complete this request? Very unprofessional. I do not recommend this bakery at all. read more

Michael, I wanted to write a review about your shop and the circumstances, which occurred to cause me to decide to NEVER frequent your shop again. I have purchased cakes from Wedding Wonderland for over 10 years. I usually spend on average $1000.00 at your shop each year when it comes to now 9 grandchildren and their birthday parties, holiday cup cakes, shower cakes, wedding cakes, my mothers 90th birthday cake etc. I came into your shop and was waited on by Candace. I was purchasing a birthday cake for my granddaughter's first birthday. We were having a small party and I wanted a cake for about 15 people. I brought a picture of a cake of how I wanted it decorated. This is what I have always done. Candice priced a cake with a 10 or 12-inch base and the second tier was about 4 inches smaller. The cake would serve over fifty people and with the smash cake was well over $200.00. That was not what I wanted to buy. It was something much smaller. I asked her if we just couldn't down size the cake. She said that you didn't do that. I told her that I have been a long-standing customer of Wedding Wonderland for over 10 years and why couldn't they just make the cake smaller. Why can't you use an 8-inch base and a 6 inch second tier? She explained that the 6-inch tier would not give enough room for the decorations, which we needed and it would be out of proportion. I then asked her if there wasn't something smaller than a 6-inch tier. Candace then went to the kitchen and brought out a 4-inch cake pan, which was about 1 and 1/2 inches high. She said that this was the size but it wasn't high enough. I asked her why she couldn't just use two of those, one on top of the other with the 8-inch base. She said that it could be done and she priced my cake order. She was extremely helpful and tried to help me receive WHAT I WAS WANTING TO PURCHASE. Then I came to pick up my cake. Michael, you came storming out of the kitchen waving my cake order in your hand. You were red faced and out of control. You asked me, "How did I get Candace to sell me this cake"? "I love you Barb", you said but we do not allow bartering in my shop". I don't know what you consider as bartering but what I did was explain what I wanted to purchase. I wasn't wanting to trade anything since that what bartering entails. It isn't any different that telling a sales clerk that I want a sofa which is about 95 inches long and in a fabric rather than leather. You say you love me? You don't know anything about me other than I spend a lot of money in your store. You then told me that you didn't make any money on selling me my cake. It still cost nearly $150.00 and you can't make money on that. That cake batter must have been made of gold. Who are you kidding? You told me that Candace cried and my comment to you was "Did you fire her". I didn't make her cry at all which is what you said in response to Meghan's facebook review. That is a lie. In our conversation you told me at least 5 times how you hadn't make any money on this cake. I couldn't help but feel that you were BEGGING me to pay more. You asked me how I got Candice to sell me my cake. I simply asked her and she did what she could to accommodate me. She should have been made the employee of the month. Wedding Wonderland works with Orlando's, which is where our reception was, so we thought we would give them a try. When we got to the bakery, we received the WORST service! It took several minutes before anyone even said anything to us after we entered the bakery, and we were the only ones there, and employees were on the display floor and just ignored us. After speaking with someone and showing them the picture I had in mind for our wedding cake, they went into the back to see if they could do it. When they returned, they said "We can't do this." They handed me my picture and walked away. I wanted to see if they had other options, and they never returned to assist me. We waited for about 5 minutes with no one returning from the back room, and decided to leave. Needless to say, we did not use Wedding Wonderland for our wedding cake. read more

Our groom's cake was a bit of a special request, so the head baker came out to talk to us about it and he was extremely excited to make the cake. The gave us a delivery window of 10a-2p on the wedding day and were there promptly at 10a. Both cakes were not only delicious but absolutely amazing looking. I called to place the order and was turned away with no other options because I did not provide the proper leadtime, which was not listed on the certificate for a cake to serve 20 people.
