One of the greatest perks of being Elite is attending fabulous venues, eating fabulous food and receiving great customer care. Additionally, enjoying all of this with fellow Elites is wonderful as well! Thus, when my friends and I were looking for NYE places, I recommended Bacchus. I attended the End of Year Elite Event and wanted to comeback. We were originally a group of four but two friends came down with the flu! The NYE menu had tantalizing options. Here's what we feasted on as we waited for 2026 to begin: 1.Amuse Bouche: Salmon toast, Roasted Tomato and Burrata Tartelette and Eggplant and Caviar Hazelnut Filo. We all had one of each and all were divine. The Salmon was fresh and seasoned nicely, my fave Eggplant and Caviar was a one bite full of fresh eggplant didn't taste the caviar in a delicious mini puff pastry dough. The burrata cheese was scrumptious in the tartlet 2. Starters: . Crab Salad & Sea Scallops, Carpaccio consisted of avocado,celery, fennel, herbs, oysters, citrus dressing and delicious crab and scallops (tender and heavenly) Foie Gras Terrine: Brioche toast and fig marmalade, second time in my life eating duck liver mousse which had a creamy buttery texture. I enjoyed it. 3. Mains: Sea Scallop Risotto which had mushrooms and lemon zest. My friend loved it! I loved my Bacon wrapped monkfish with sauerkraut ( really out of my depth here but wanted to try something different) fingerling potatoes and Beurre Blanc ( the dreamiest, creamiest butter as described by Julia Child) 4. Dessert: Two desserts that I tried during Elite event were offered here: ChocolateFondant ( mini Bundt cake) with vanilla ice cream and the Passionfruit Creme Brûlée. The brûlée is my fave and Bacchus makes it excellent. The Fondant is rich and chocolatey. 5. Drinks: Cava, which was delicious and Sauvignon Blanc. Kaza the head Sommelier who managed the Elite event was there and gave us drinks on the house. Bacchus is my kind of place: great for ANY event, excellent wine, food and service. I've had this place on my hit list for a while: I am a BIG fan of French cuisine and am trying to find good options in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, Bacchus fell flat for me. We did visit while they were hosting/wrapping up a wedding reception. I really do think they should have just closed the place for the day because they were rushing to put tables out for guests. There was a lot of movement from the staff trying to clean-up from the party which did sour the experience overall - it all just seemed a little disorganized. FYI they only serve wine and beer, no cocktails. If you order a soda, it is not bottomless. For dinner, I went with their moules frites, which I will admit is the largest portion of moules I've ever seen. Unfortunately, it was very underwhelming. Sauce wasn't intriguing enough. I kept going back in because there was so much food, not necessarily because I loved it, and didn't even end up finishing. I did get the chocolate fondant for dessert - which is basically chocolate lava cake. I switched out the whipped cream for vanilla ice cream and THAT was good. The perfect sweet treat! Overall, I'm upset I had a lackluster experience, and while I know that the event may have been part of the cause, I can't confidently say I would go back. read more

I went here for Valentine's Day for the prix fix meal. There were two options, which I appreciated. You could spend $65 or $85 and the $85 option had a bit more fancy to it, but the base was also very nice. If I understood correctly based on other reviews, I think they have a price fix option most nights. I'm a huge fan of this setup, so that was the main reason why I chose this. It's a lovely restaurant, and I do think the food overall is good, but I'm giving it a lower rating because I did have a bit of a bad experience. I ordered the duck, and I made the mistake of saying "chef's choice" for the doneness. I'm pregnant, and I do not know why I did this. I think I assumed it would be served medium rare, because that's how I've usually had duck at nice restaurants, but mine was so very rare. I love rare steak, but from what I understand, duck really isn't the kind of meat you want to serve rare, and you're not supposed to have that when you're pregnant anyway. I should have sent it back, but I felt bad to do that when I was the one who didn't specify the doneness I wanted. In addition to that, we ordered foie gras with toast. In France, I had a really delicious one that was pan fried with toast, so for some reason, I once again assumed the wrong thing and it was a páté. Again, shouldn't have eaten it, but I did. I swear I've made better choices throughout my pregnancy, but that night I did not, and I paid the price. A few days later, I got quite sick and went to the doctor and found I got a bacterial infection (campylobacter). You can get it when you eat undercooked meat. Considering this dinner was the only time I was exposed to that, I'm very confident it happened here. For most people, it passes, but when you're pregnant, or immunocompromised, you need antibiotics. So, overall, part of this is my fault and I do accept responsibility for poor decision making in consuming undercooked meat, but I do have to question the preparation decisions and how the restaurant handles their food. I do think it's a nice restaurant, and I don't think anyone should avoid it by any means, because of my experience, but it's a good reminder to be careful with what you get. Hopefully it was just a one off thing and not a huge lapse in food handling by the restaurant. read more

We had a party of 12 and it was nice that we all sat in a long rectangle table. The vibe inside was very cute and dimmed, but lively. We ordered. A bunch of appetizers for the table to share and the giant bottle of wine was a great edition. We ordered escargot, burrata, foiegras, and hot bread with butter. Our favorite was the foie gras and hot bread. The hot fresh bread was crusty and the butter was very rich and good. The foie gras came in a good size patty and the bread with the sweet and rich foie gras was really good. The weird part is that these appetizers don't come with much bread and I thought they would give us more since we have a huge party. Entrees came out afterwards: ribeyes, mussels, cassoulet, hanger steak. the cassoulet with duck confit did not look like the pictures. We felt like our dish was this tiny little drum compared to the pictures we saw. Ribeye was okay but salty. We felt overall that this place was just OK. This restaurant is disappointing. The food was bad and the service was non-existent. First, the front door of the restaurant does not open - it has to be opened for you by one of the wait staff. Sometimes you have to wait a long time for them to open it, and when it's freezing outside, like it was the evening of January 8, it's frustrating. Second, we ordered a lot of food to try: charcuterie & meat combo, beet salad, 3 onion soups, hanger steak, pork belly, and the stuffed cabbage. All of the food we tried was so plain and overpriced. We spent $250 for food that left us disappointed. The charcuterie board was poorly presented and tasted like the cheap meats and cheeses we get in a supermarket. The beet salad was so bland that I don't even remember what was in it. The pork belly was not "crispy" it was deep fried and the cheap pieces of pork. The stuffed cabbage was oversalted, and was just a stuffed cabbage - no sides. Onion soup was disappointing, even though it was a cold day and I was looking forward to it warming me up. Finally, the service was non-existent. Wait staff never came around to take our orders. It took forever to get our food. And the check - I had to ask for the check three times from three separate waiters. And it still took a ridiculously long time to come. We held our ceremony and reception at Bacchus for our intimate (70 person) wedding a month ago - and my husband and I (along with our guests) had a wonderful experience. Our planning period was around 6-7 months, and the whole process was fairly easy and low-key. I researched other restaurants/venues in Brooklyn, and it was the most affordable/had the best value out of all the options we looked into. We met with Meryl (the Bacchus coordinator) a few times and she was great to work with. We went in for a tasting, and the food was incredible. On the day of, the weather was unexpectedly awful and extremely windy, and Meryl and the Bacchus crew were able to seamlessly adjust the seating last minute. The venue itself is lovely, so we didn't have to do much for decorations and just ordered flowers for the tables. The wine bar section just got renovated literally a day or two before our wedding - and it was beautiful! We highly recommend Bacchus as a wedding venue!! read more

The service was worse than a diner; they left the menu on the table for the whole meal (even after I pointed out that it was crowding us,) they forgot to serve us for so long we contemplated leaving, they took our order without asking if we'd like a drink, and neglected us to the point we needed to use other diners to flag them down for us. The food was totally amateurishly prepared; who serves oysters drained of their water and still attached to their shell--- and not even on ice!? Not only were they extremely affordable with highly competitive pricing for the area, but the quality of the food, treatment, service and venue was unbeatable. Our dream Brooklyn wedding was made a reality (in only 8 months!) because of Bacchus. The staff were phenomenal and went above and beyond. Each and every one of them. They were completely hands on every step of the way and covered every detail, even the ones we didn't think of. Our decor was assembled and put up for us. All the drinks we wanted were served. Every allergy (and there were many) was perfectly accommodated. The wine selection was top tier! Thank you, Kaza! And the food!! Wow! Chef's kiss. Our guests continue to talk about it to this day. The space is so minimalistic, beautiful and rustic. Very little needed to be added to complete our vision. We were even supplied with a beautiful cage for our cards so we did not have to buy our own. My guests were so well taken care. WE were so well taken care of! They were with us every step of the way and with the best and kindest attitudes, it's almost hard to believe. Saw the reviews about the food "being bad" before coming here - it's all bullcrap. The food was great. My coworker and I came after work last night and stayed till closing. The wagyu burger I demolished in 5 minutes. It was so flipping good. Also had the escargot (only had it once before this place) and it was pretty good! The waiters are great and attentive. Everyone is super nice. I had wine, but they had a couple beer options for my friend. She had the steak frites and said this is the only dish she ever fully finished. Got married here last weekend and I really can't say enough nice things about the experience. GET MARRIED HERE, or celebrate any kind of big party. First off Meryl is the absolute best. She made everything so easy and had us feeling confident through the entire planning process. On the night of, everything went off without issue, and she made sure that some of our guests dietary issues were accounted for even though we didn't know about all of them ahead of time. The garden is an AMAZING place to get married. It's simple yet elegant, and made all of our guests (and us of course) feel comfortable. And the Bacchus team was able to transition the space twice, totally seamlessly, from the ceremony to dinner, and then from dinner to an open space for a bit of dancing before bringing the dance party inside. And the food was unreal. We tasted everything a couple months ahead of time and loved it, but never dreamed it could be as good when the kitchen would be cooking it for 85 people. But it was just as good and our friends and family keep raving about it. People tell you that things will go wrong at your wedding, but thanks to Meryl and Bacchus, not one thing did. Setting the scene: It's Thanksgiving Day. The hub and I remained uncertain about our holiday plans until yesterday when we decided we were just going to stay home. Since he wasn't super excited about having turkey and didn't want me doing all the work for just the two of us, he suggested we go with something non-traditional, perhaps Mexican food at our favorite place, Panchita's. What we did not expect -- and discovered only this afternoon -- was that it and our back-up Mexican plan (Fonda) would be closed for the day. Nuts! At that point, we started looking up local places offering Thanksgiving menus (Stone Park Cafe's offering looked the best), only to find they were all booked -- no surprise there as it's Thanksgiving afternoon! As we were about to give up and just eat at home, we found open reservations at Bacchus. We'd not been in years, though we recalled enjoying their All You Can Eat Mussels Night. We went with low expectations, just thankful to have the option. We got there at 3:15 and there were maybe 4 other parties dining, which was a nice middle ground of not empty, but also not crowded and super noisy. Honestly, the food was just okay. In all fairness, this isn't exactly the type of fare that a french wine bar is known for, so we were okay with it. Here's a run-down of the meal: -- I liked the idea of the turkey puffs as an amuse bouche, but the dark meat used was tough and a bit stringy. -- The polenta amuse bouche was okay, as who doesn't love the flavor of sautéed peppers and onions? -- The bacon wrapped scallop appetizer had good flavor (after all, bacon!), but pairing scallops with stuffing and cranberry sauce was strange -- those flavors just do not meld. -- I opted for the turkey roll breast entree, which was okay. At the very least, it provided me with a stuffing and gravy fix. And, the server/chef accommodated my request for a vegetable other than Brussels sprouts, which I appreciated. -- The hub said his crabmeat stuffed salmon entree was good. It came with sweet potatoes, which isn't his jam, so I happily ate them. -- For dessert, we both opted for the pecan pie, which wasn't a traditional version, but it was delicious -- an unexpected treat! Overall, the food itself would rank 3-1/2 stars for me. That said, the plating of the three courses was beautiful and the portions were ample. We left stuffed! And the meal was definitely a good value at 60-something dollars for 3 courses. Most other places we were considering (if they'd actually had reservations available) started at $90 and I suspect the serving sizes would have been significantly smaller. So, I will be giving them a 4-star rating. Did we love this meal? No. Did it serve its purpose? Yes. We will be going back to Bacchus? Yes, to re-visit their Mussels Night. read more

When was the last time you had the option to order a Methuselah sized bottle of wine with dinner? Maybe it's more common than I realize, but this was a first for me. Still, if I had to choose between ordering one of their better ones versus filling my house's tank with heating oil... I can't decide if I want to describe this place as having food fancier than atmosphere, or atmosphere more casual than the food. And I don't mean that as negatives, I enjoyed the combination, and service that was attentive and yet equally casual and familiar. I liked that certain menu options came in a variety of choices, such as appetizers vs. entrees vs. small plates. And by that I mean DUCK, specifically the duck leg confit this time. The combination of the crispy exterior with the tender meat was pleasing to the palate. I combined that with a special for the evening, a salad featuring roasted beets, and I dined very well. We did go for a much more modest bottle of wine to go with our dinner, but we were completely satisfied with it, and I have a feeling that the wines in general pair well with meals here, despite my lack familiarity with most of them. It does get a bit crowded and loud here, which relates to my opinion of the casual nature here. Don't let that make you uncomfortable, enjoy the food and drink here. read more

POST COVID REVIEW: This place was fantastic! We made a reservation for Friday night and our table was ready when we arrived at the restaurant. The entire staff was wearing masks and everyone dining in the outdoor patio was safely distanced from one another. Their menu has shortened due to COVID and was brought out on a lovely black board. We ended up ordering focaccia for the table, the sirloin burger, and the hanger steak. Everything was exceptional. Firs review of the New Year and gotta give it to my New Year's Eve meal at Bacchus! As always, gotta start out by praising the top notch people who make this place run. Front of house and waiters were personable and welcoming to the perfect degree. There was an $84 prix fix four course meal for that night which we thought was a pretty good deal! Began with a lil amuse bouche of smoked salmon neopolitan. Nice bit of salmon roe on top, can't go wrong. We both elected to have the scallops as our app. Daaaaaamn. Beautifully presented and like eating solidified angels tears. I mean maybe I just love scallops? But these were up there with the best I've had. Came with a lovely tomato confit and fennel purée. For mains we had the salmon and the pork cheek. The pork cheek was very good, came with a very creamy mushroom sauce, Brussels sprouts with bacon and a celery root purée. Very good and almost too filling? But def getting your monies worth. For dessert we had the cheesecake with passionfruit coulis and the fondant au chocolate with delicious cream on the side! We came here on a Saturday night and they were able to take us as a walk-in. The escargot and oysters were great. Tempura anchovies were tasty but I would have enjoyed them more if they were fillets - the spine was a little off-putting. The sauce they came with a nice and they were tender and flaky. We ordered the magret duck breast medium, but it seemed to only have been cooked on the skin side. Most of it was actually cold. We requested it to be warmed up a little more and it came back out well done and tough. This was a pretty big disappointment considering this was one of the priciest entrées on the menu. We had a fantastic dining experience at Bacchus that was worthy of 5 stars. I've been remiss in not writing this review sooner. Bacchus is in the neighborhood and we wandered in one evening for dinner and we were very pleasantly surprised! Ambiance upon entry is lovely and stunning and we were instantly greeted and led to a table. We ordered the escargot, bread and butter, Bacchus salad, and because we aren't very big meat eaters, we split the hanger steak. The waiter chose a bottle of wine for us to split and the recommendation was spot on! All of the dishes were delicious, every last one. We definitely ordered too much food, but made room to finish each dish. The escargot was definitely a standout, so deliciously buttery. The steak was divine, perfectly cooked, and the Sarladaise potatoes were amazing and really complemented the dish. We were also pleasantly surprised when we got the bill. We ordered a small mountain of food that was all truly spectacular, and Bacchus is very reasonably priced. It's on our regular list of restaurants in the neighborhood we like and would go back to. read more

Menu looked legit, got meat, got cheese, got bread, got french onion soup (we from america I'm still laying respect to France and giving them their real. I ordered the burger, wifey got the quiche. So each meal gonna cost us a very fair price of $18-22, but wait... there is more. $42 per person entree AND bottomless mimosa/Bellini/sparkling wine. Hide your daughters, hide your boy toys, hide your big brimmed hats cause we got ourselves a regular brunch in Manhattan!!!! I'm team Bellini, and wifey is team sparkling wine. So let's talk food first. Burger. What's up this ain't to be played with. They asked how I want it, I said medium rare.... Still good in my mouth. They gave me a side salad with it (wish it was dressed more but be fair I paid for the burger and it paid for itself). A+++ Quiche. Ok Mrs. Clerksrat quiche was FINE. Won't hate because to be honest it's not a good order but it could be better. Cheese was lacking and sausage took to biting to get to but it's FINE. You walk in ask for quiche drink a ton of champ-agne and you know what. You good. B- Now let's get to the service side. Oooof let's talk about bottomless NYC cause we do it the best. Ok some rules for locals. #1 respect wait staff #2 respect those around you #3 tip according to time not check #4 don't be that "guy" / "girl" #5 always watch the clock Now on the service people side let's get to rules #1 don't take shit #2 keep them glasses full #3 always make sure every table are getting same service #4 always watch the clock but make sure you finish them off with a final round. This is where it went awry. First when I got my Bellini, my wife got her sparkling-... wait she got a mimosa. They brought her the wrong drink then asked "oh I'm sorry did you order... a quiche". Zero recollection of drink order and apparently forgot the food order. Roll call check... 18 patrons before we arrived (all served) just us 2 ordered. Wasn't a packed place fam. Wifey ain't gonna say no to sparkling wine even if spiked with natures fruit so she took it. We saw some drunk patrons across from us who literally stayed longer than us but managed to get same bottomless. We got less and less service but noticed they continuously got refilled. It got to the point where we felt awkward without any drink or bill that we had to ask, "did that group get a better package because we just want to know how to improve our service". Dude literally stares is cold blood in eye and lies, "no you got the same". WHAT?!? So how did we leave vs how did we come. Came with "yo this is fire love the vibe, love the food, love the deal" vibes in texts to friends. Left with "yo this place flat on shits on you if you ain't got big table and aren't loud and obnoxious to others" Bacchus you got promise but you ain't there yet. I'd probably try it again but would feel uncomfortable with smaller table since it seems they prioritize large groups even in small brunch crowds. This restaurant transports you to Paris with its French speaking waiters, duck and steak on menu, and colored panel wooden walls. The food was cooked to order, perhaps a little even rarer than asked. Meats such as duck and steak were juicy and flavorful. My friend's branzino was crispy, but lacked a little flavor in my opinion. My other friend's pork chop which was the special of the day was MASSIVE. The mashed potato served with the entrees were so smooth and creamy, I could have many many scoops more. Definitely a more treat yourself/special occasion establishment given the prices. I took a star away because the waiters were so aggressively pushing bread on our table which was not complimentary. The waiters, however, were diligent in checking our vaccination cards and refilling our glasses with wine seamlessly without us noticing.
