Was on the fence but decided to round this review up to 4 stars. Margarita pizza has been consistently good when I've been, and that says something since I'm known to be a bit of a pizza snob. I also tried the Garlic Knots last time and they were solid as well, although I wish they let you order less than 6 at a time. Location is pretty solid, in the crowded plaza with everything else over in New Providence but convenient for the most part and it isn't too difficult to get in and out despite the crowd. Service could be better. Maybe the folk by the counter just had a couple bad days, but I've generally been met with a lot of impatience and rude responses when asking questions. I have pretty much moved to getting takeout since. I haven't tried their other items yet, but maybe the next time I dine in, I'll give their pasta and other appetizers a shot. read more

I'm always hesitant about changing my initial review, unless it has been...years? This one has been about a week. The thought crossed my mind to take my high rating down even further as far as the "stars" go, but the initial review I wrote was accurate-- the soup was very good, the salad was great, as were the pizza slices. As was the service. I came here the other day with my old friend, as we had both been impressed with our initial experience. I ordered the lasagna, and the pasta fagioli. My friend ordered the same (he substituted 2 slices of pizza for the soup). Our order came with small salads; I ordered mine with French dressing, he got his with oil and vinegar. Probably to my detriment, I've never really paid much attention as to whether my meal is made from scratch or prepared ahead of time and put into a microwave when the order comes in (I can remember from "Kitchen Nightmares" how Gordon Ramsay would scrunch up his face in disgust when he found out a restaurant resorted to microwave). All I can say is, my lasagna came out fast. Really fast. I don't think it was made from scratch. The plate was enormous, heavy with cheese, some of which looked like it had been melted and then hardened back into its original form. I dug in with some trepidation. Some of the lasagna was tasty enough, and hot. Some of it was lukewarm. It wasn't awful, but let's just say I didn't eat everything on my plate, like I normally would have done. My friend had the same reaction. He looked at me and said, "What do you think?" I shrugged and replied, "I'm not very impressed." I feel compelled to change my rating because I'd hate to think of someone reading my initial review, coming here and ordering the lasagna, and then saying to him(her)self, "What's up with that Edward T? Is he a gullible moron? Is he used to eating at Papa John's? Is he a shill for the restaurant?" Still, 4 stars...at this point in time, anyway...seems fair. The pizza is very good, the salad was enough to transform me into a "salad fan" for life (not really, but if you're going to have a salad, Bacci's is a very good salad to have), and I liked the pasta fagioli. I'll probably be coming here again. Next time, maybe I'll try the chicken parmigiana or eggplant. But I won't be ordering the lasagna again. Maybe it was just an off night. Not a lot of pizza variety for dinner at the counter compared to other places. At least, they were able to accommodate and make a special pizza for us - adding broccoli and sausage to a plain slice. There were no parmesan cheese, oregano, garlic powder or hot pepper flakes jars out on the tables and need to requested from the kitchen. Pizza quality is fine, thin crust. Both the Bbq chicken with bacon and sausage-broccoli slices were good. Dining area is bright and spacious. read more

This is NOT my go to pizza place...but give it a shot every so often. They have NEVER gotten my order correct!! Wrong pizza toppings, wrong size pie, wrong salads, etc. Tonight it happened again; ordered 2 pizzas and one was not correct. The owner stood there watching me have this frustrating conversation with the cashier and said nothing. She offered to have me wait there while they made a new pie...didn't have time for that. Well the place is very clean and the staff was very attentive. Seems they run special daily so you would need to call and inquire on a daily basis. Plenty of parking in the lot . Now we ordered the chicken parmigiana pie had a ton of sauce and chicken , not so much chesse . The crust was very thick , I prefer think crust , but over all it was pretty average for the pizza . Price was almost 19 bucks for the pizza pie which I would say it's on the high side and lower the rating of the restaurant. They have a kids menu which is a plus price we're little more reasonable my daughter had the meatballs and pasta which again was average. In the end nothing special but nothing bad . read more

Ordered the chicken parm panini, based on the reviews here... that was a mistake. The chicken itself is grilled/charred and a little too much. So if you're thinking the cutlet will be breaded, welp, it's not! Aside from the charred flavor, there is no seasoning to the chicken whatsoever. The sauce is thin and has no flavor. The sandwich arrived cold, so there was absolutely enjoyment of this sandwich at all. I don't mind paying for good food, but when I saw the reviews raving about this sandwich and then I saw the price, I thought I'd won the lotto! In the words of my grandma, "cheap no good and good no cheap!" It was served with a side salad, which came with a creamy balsamic vinaigrette that was completely broken. My wife and I frequent Bacci's in New Providence at least once a week and sometimes more. The night before last I had a Pork Oso Bucco with asparagus and my wife had a sausage and pepper calzone, it could have used a little more dipping sauce, but it was great. My dinner was the best Oso Bucco I've ever had. I can't say enough about how good it was. It was fall off the bone tender & melt in your mouth. My wife's favorite meal at Bocci's is their baked salmon with risotto. We have never had a less than great meal there and the added bonus is that it is a BYOB establishment. read more

Ordered their pizza on Saturday night for my friends 30th bday event. It was fantastic. Probably the best buffalo chicken ever. Their buffalo sauce had tremendous flavor! They somehow figured out how to create a rich flavor without overdoing the heat. Some places struggle to add more flavor because it makes their sauce hotter. I don't know how but their flavor was the most buffalo I've ever tasted in a pizza but the least spicy. The ranch was subtle and the chicken was perfectly portioned, not too much, not too little. They also have a prosciutto pizza with red peppers which was quite delicious. I've had better crust in my life but the primary flavors made up for that. Got home and discovered that their version consisted of thick pizza dough covered in a thick solid layer of mozzarella cheese with blobs of pizza sauce and sprinkled with small pieces of basil. Yuck! It's no easy feat to compete in the Italian restaurant business here in the Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Summit area, but Bacci is more than just a contender. All of our friends and family that we've brought here for dinner agree. We just love the mix of music that they play from Frank Sinatra to Dean Martin to Andrea Bocelli. You won't find linens, 10 stemmed glasses on the table, or anything pretentious. What you will find is a great Italian restaurant. Good service, a great salad and bread to start your meal, and a classic menu with some surprises. The red sauce is a delicious crushed tomato sauce without being overly seasoned. The pork chop with mushroom brown sauce is delicious. Finish your meal with the homemade tiramisu. It is to die for. Lastly, don't forget to say hi to Gary the waiter. We recently ordered their veal Marsala and the fish de bacci. First if all, order it with their risotto. The Marsala sauce on its own is enough reason to bring me back here. There was a good amount of meat/filling, but I had to eat half the sub open-faced and then the other half, I just ate without the roll. I went there just before they closed. They were patient while we decided what to order, but they didn't offer information on their specials or anything. They knew we were from out of town and just looking for something to eat while staying at a nearby hotel in a strange town. I even asked them about special offers. The big man taking my order coldly pointed to the board instead of referring to the entire coupon section on the back of their menu. I ordered a Chicken Parmigiana Pie and a Calzone. The pie was superb! The sauce was tangy and rich, the chicken was cooked and seasoned deliciously. The pizza was great! The Calzone was okay, but a lot of bread. The place was clean, and there was plenty of well lit parking. The reason they only earned three stars is because they were too pricey and not helpful. Those two items I ordered totaled $30, and I later looked at their menu and there were several coupons and specials I could have used. They treated us like out of towners with deep pockets instead of customers they were trying to satisfy. read more
