I have been a patient of Dr. Bachner for years and now and have had 2 knee surgeries. All has gone well with both surgeries that I had with Dr. Bachner. Today I had a TERRIBLE experience with his office staff though. I explained when I checked in that my car just broke down so a friend had dropped me off and would be waiting for me. I asked if Dr. Bachner appoints were on time or if he was running behind. I was told that he was on time. 55 minutes after my scheduled appointment, I asked her if she could see as to when I would be seen by Dr. Bachner. She said that she would see how much longer I would need to wait. Another 10 minutes goes by so, and still no answer. I went to the front desk to re-schedule my appointment. Another office staff (sorry I didn't get their names), said that Dr. Bachner is a "speciality doctor" and appointments are usually 1 to 1/2 hours AFTER your scheduled appointment time. I told her that I asked in the beginning of my appointment the expected wait time was. She replied RUDELY that they do know what happens in the back part of the office with Dr. Bachner's and his patients. Then why was I told when I checked in he was running appointment on time? She didn't have an answer for that. Since when is the patient's time not valuable? I left work early today just to make my appointment ON TIME. I asked if they could have Dr. Bachner call me. The rude office staff said he doesn't do that. This is such terrible customer service when the office staff, feel it's okay to wait 1 to 1 1/2 hours to see Dr. Bachner after your scheduled appointment time. I posting this for Dr. Bachner to see in hopes that he'll do something to change the wait time and make him aware of the lack of professionalism with his front office staff. read more

Rude. When I made the appointment, I was asked to get the xrays I had done put on a CD and bring them. Either no one told him the CD was there or didn't care. the front desk asked for it when I signed in. When I showed him the CD he just pushed it aside as he read a # off the label. I had to take more xrays. He asked what happened. I said I wasn't sure, however my ankle had been sore for about 2yrs, hard to walk and now I have this bump and my foot started to swell. don't remember his reply, something like well if it was 2 yrs ago and nothing was done...... I said I tripped over a skateboard and got a bruise from it. Why would I run to the dr. for a bruise was my thought at the time. Yes, it hurt, all bruises hurt. Then he looked at the shoes I had on, which were flip flips, he abrupptly told me they were the worst possible shoes I could wear, pointing to a pair of tennis shoes someone had on and said I needed to wear shoes like that. As I have insertional achilles tendinosis with a prominent dorsal calcaneal spur on my heel I told him I can't wear closed shoes as it hurts and rubs against my heel. He didn't bother to explain why I needed to wear other shoes. After researching when I got home, I read about drop shoes - I have never heard of or knew what a drop shoe was before that. The dr never mentioned it. He gave me a prescription for naproxen and a topical gel and said this isn't going to be a short term fix. I asked what happens if the meds don't help. He said you need to go see a foot/ankle dr. I asked what would they do - reply was surgery. He said he could put my foot in a boot, however my other foot would have to be as high as the boot - I have never in 70+ years exerienced any type of break so I had no clue what he was talking about. I guess because this isn't a major injury, he didn't feel it necessary to explain anything. He did ask if I had any questions, how in the world would I have questions if I didn't know any more than I did before going there. The only thing I knew was that I was wearing the worst possible shoes possible, but had no clue why. My appointment was at 9:50 - waited for an hour. read more

I broke my collarbone and "Dr." Bachner said I would be fine without surgery. He was pretty rude, terrible bedside manner and made sure to talk shit about younger doctors who would probably do surgery because they're inexperienced. Sent me off in a sling and some very mild Tylenol with codeine. Fast forward to 4 days of agonizing pain (it's been 6 total days at this point) I call his office for some advice/stronger prescription and the rude front desk told me he was with a patient and wasn't sure if he would call me back. She made it clear she was leaving for the day at 5pm. No one calls me back. Two hours later I call the emergency line and thankfully get ahold of Dr.Kevin Nadel who prescribed something stronger and saw me the next day. He assured me I would need surgery. I went to THREE more doctors for more opinions within the following days and they ALL said surgery was necessary. Bachner you should just retire and call it a day. You clearly don't care about your patients. I could have saved several days of my life if I had just booked the surgery immediately. Also the front desk is just flat out rude and whoever is in charge of scheduling should be fired. Average wait time is 2 hours. They should really stop double booking people who are in pain! read more

Dr. Bachner performed surgery on a full tear of my rotator cuff on February 1 this year. He was straight forward from the start and very detailed on explaining the process and the importance of following the follow up physical therapy. I must say that I had very little pain or sourness after the first week and followed his instructions to the point. I now have full use of my shoulder and have successfully started weight training on my shoulder. Hopefully I will never need him again, but will definitely go back if needed. read more

Our daughter, a water polo player and surfer has had a couple of unfortunate injuries and we have had the best experience with Dr.Bachner! He was so kind, he spent time explaining what each surgery would look like and what the recovery would entail as well! I recommend him 100% . I am so happy with the results from my surgery by Dr. Bachner of my torn rotator cuff. I do nails for a living and was in a lot of pain and couldn't lift my arm prior to the repair. I found Dr. Bachner very caring and explained my X-rays and MRI very throughly before I made my decision to go ahead with the surgery. I liked his sense of humor and compassion, as it is very scary making a decision that affects your lively hood. I ended up only taking a week off of work! It has been 5 weeks and I am so glad to be feeling so much better. My physical therapist told me that my progress is that of someone who has had surgery 7 weeks ago. I have seen Dr. BACHNER several times for my knees and elbows. He has performed 4 surgeries on my knees with awesome results. He is one of the best arthroscopic knee surgeons in SoCal. He was able to recommend his colleague for my elbows which I had great results from surgeries also. ( I'm a little tough on my body). Now I'm dealing with my mom's knee. We saw Dr BACHNER and he determined she needed a knee replacement which he has referred us to Dr. Rana. She hasn't had the surgery yet but so far we are very pleased with Dr. Rana. I have read some of the reviews about the office being backlogged and long wait times. That can happen at any medical office. What you need to know about this medical practice is that they are very compassionate and will take in emergencies immediately. That was the case of one of my friends that was kicked by a horse and shattered his arm. They immediately scheduled an appointment and got him scheduled for surgery. I know waiting is no fun , but if one of your family members needed to be seen immediately, wouldn't YOU HOPE other patients would understand. I'm giving Dr BACHNER and the entire staff of Center for Orthopedic Specialists 6 stars even though it only lets me give 5. Dr Bachner was referred to me by my physical therapist and my primary care doctor. I tore my left knee miniscus playing tennis. I was very apprehensive about doing the recommended surgery, fearful that I would not be able to play tennis again. Well after doing a spectacular job on my knee I was up and walking on the third day after surgery. He personally gave me a follow up call on Sunday to make sure I was doing well.
