But as you can guess from the name this place probably serves other food items besides pizza. In fact there is a whole other section and entrance to just order and pick up pizza. I knew I was coming to Philly for a Library Conference and was planning to come here, with or without my co-worker. Now, if you want to have a Philly brotherly love I believe you have to go out of the City (like most places which are touristy). This definitely is a local place, that you can tell many local Italian folks make this their regular spot and they definitely if know you are an outsider. I'm from San Francisco with Pier 39/Fisherman's wharf is predominantly Italian and this place reminded me of the local joints in North Beach. However, we found the brotherly/sisterly love that Philly is known here at this place. Our server was really nice and helpful especially when we were deciding what to eat. My colleague is little picky with food, but we made it work. Entree came with soup, salad and bread. when she asked about the soup of the day it was cream of broccoli. She opted for salad and I opted for the soup. And I was not disappointed. It wasn't that soup out the industrial size can some restaurants use or over thick creamy gunk. The soup was made with a good consistency and real fresh broccoli and carrots, which was new for me and I'm here for it. She ordered Baked Penne and I ordered the pescatore linguine as I love all things seafood. Her food looked really good and she ate just about all of it and my linguine was the best I've had in a long time. Shellfood just right and the calamari not over cooked. I know I live in the San Francisco area, but I don't get out there that much and I usually order my fresh steamed crab and clam chowder. And of course I had to order a personal pizza as it was a Friday and pay homage to the tradition of PCF.. I was going to just order pepperoni, but then I saw sweet peppers as a option!. Ate it later that evening, and let me tell ya!!! It matched my local pizza joint I go to at home. I'm going to try to get back here before heading home. I highly recommend you take a side trip to this spot. The service, the food, and the price (significantly lower that in town).

I think at this point our household has a love-hate-relationship with Zio's. The first time we…read moretried it, I was battling some dietary restrictions which prohibited me from ordering exactly what I wanted, aka PASTA! It was OK to say the least. Let's be honest, who want's to substitute veggies for pasta?! NOBODY! Oddly enough, the chicken marsala is what keeps me coming back for more! It's superb!!!! Especially over a bed of pasta. Not to mention, the to-go portions could feed a legitimate small army. The only other thing I've tried here is the Chicken Parm, which I was not fond of. It's as basic as it gets- no redeeming qualities. My husband ordered the chicken limone last time which is accompanied by a few very large shrimp! The chicken and sauce was decent. My husband is back on his gluten free journey and he did not have the nicest things to say about the GF pasta. I'm writing this portion on behalf of my husband- in his words, "this is the consistency of glue." And to be honest, he wasn't wrong. It was hard to even force yourself to eat. I'm assuming someone just forgot to take it off the heat. Only one star deducted because between the chicken marsala, portions, and garlic bread, it's good enough to return when having a hankering for said items. We have yet to bite the bullet and try the pizza...stay tuned if we decide to!
