I think at this point our household has a love-hate-relationship with Zio's. The first time we tried it, I was battling some dietary restrictions which prohibited me from ordering exactly what I wanted, aka PASTA! It was OK to say the least. Let's be honest, who want's to substitute veggies for pasta?! NOBODY! Oddly enough, the chicken marsala is what keeps me coming back for more! It's superb!!!! Especially over a bed of pasta. Not to mention, the to-go portions could feed a legitimate small army. The only other thing I've tried here is the Chicken Parm, which I was not fond of. It's as basic as it gets- no redeeming qualities. My husband ordered the chicken limone last time which is accompanied by a few very large shrimp! The chicken and sauce was decent. My husband is back on his gluten free journey and he did not have the nicest things to say about the GF pasta. I'm writing this portion on behalf of my husband- in his words, "this is the consistency of glue." And to be honest, he wasn't wrong. It was hard to even force yourself to eat. I'm assuming someone just forgot to take it off the heat. Only one star deducted because between the chicken marsala, portions, and garlic bread, it's good enough to return when having a hankering for said items. They're under new ownership, and it's not an improvement. First, the good news: The magical garlic knots remain. Now, the less good news. The pasta e fagioli is flavorless, and my chicken florentine was not as advertised (white wine sauce with a touch of marinara- was the inverse in reality, which is ok... just say so). Both pieces of chicken were pounded (yay) but neither was seasoned and one was inedible. My sister liked her Italian chicken panini (which was simply a sandwich served on ciabatta, not a grilled panini, but I digress), and her husband enjoyed his veal parm sandwich. To add insult to injury, the seat of the booth was torn and had clearly had duct tape on it recently... and was sticky as you slid over it. (Duct tape was no longer there, just the adhesive and a massive cut in the seat.) I wonder if the upside-down pizza is still as fabulous as it used to be, but I'm not sure I'm willing to risk it. Let's get a couple of things out of the way. The service is always good and the ambiance quite acceptable. Many of you know that I usually do not downgrade unless necessary. It is necessary. We've been coming here for years. I met the owner at another eating establishment and told him how much we loved the food. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago and his wife took over. She did a great job keeping the place going but recently sold out. Zio's is under new management and we are not happy. We always get Fruitti de Mare, one white, one red and it's always fresh and delicious not to mention substantial. Tonight's dinner was your quintessential and consummate example of "shrinkflation" High price for less food. Now I will admit we may have made a mistake. We were looking for our usual choice and saw Trio de Mare and we said ok. That was only shrimp, clams and scallops. We really wanted shrimp, clams, mussels, squid with chunks of garlic. I just checked the menu here on Yelp and there is a Linguine de Mare at a lower price of $27.95. We paid $30 for less. But that's not the reason for 2 generous stars. The food sucked. The shrimp was mealy. The scallops chewy. Both had been sitting out all day. 4 shrimp, 4 scallops, 4 little necks over a little linguine. A disgrace. Now with that said I will probably call first to see if they have the Linguine with mussels, clams and shrimp and if there are at least 10 of each with 5 shrimp. I'm willing to pay $33 like we do at Corollas. But this was a Friday night and the food should be fresh. I notice on Yelp it says claim this business so the owner hasn't bothered to check in. I'm not even sure they have a website. Bottom line is there are too many fine Italian restaurants around to waste your time and money here. My pictures below are from prior visits. I'm not sure how it took me so long to try this place. It was delicious. The service was fantastic. The mussels marina appetizer was great. The mussels were plentiful. The sauce had a lot of depth. Fresh garlic, whole tomatoes. A tad bit salty. The bread basket was to die for. Love the onion bread and pizza bread. So soft and moist. I had the veal parmigiana with broccoli and potatoes. It was fresh broccoli- not frozen!!! One of my favorite veal parms around. The breading was a little soggy though. That comes with being covered in sauce and cheese. The sauce was very good. The chicken parm with spaghetti received high remarks. I tried it. The sauce tasted different than the one I had with the veal. I'm not going to lie. I felt a little rushed because everything came out so quickly. The salads came out at the same time as the appetizer. It wasn't bad but we wanted to have a relaxing time. Spread it out a little bit. I wish I can give a higher star review but due to the service being terrible, I gave it a 3 star review. Came in with a group of 5, 3 adults, 2 children. We just found this place while being in the area and just Yelped some place random based on the reviews. We were standing at the front waiting to be seated, because there was no signage saying to just sit down, we didnt know what to do, whether to sit down, or just wait. We stood there for quite some time, before a woman finally came over and led us to a room that was behind a wall and away from everyone else. Thought it was cool, we were being seated in a separate section, but it wasn't good because we then sat there for about 20 minutes before the waitress came over to give us menus, then longer to order our food, then longer again to wait for our food. The portions were a good size and the food was tasty, but the wait time and the fact that we kept having to ask the server for napkins, then refills and her not coming back and catching an attitude when we wanted things, just rubbed me the wrong way, and I wouldn't come back. read more

My wife wanted Italian for her birthday but nothing too pretentious or fancy. We pass by Zio's every week and figured we would try there since other reviews were fairly positive. I can tell you this place did not disappoint. Walking in it looks like a place you would pop in for a slice or two of pizza, but to the left of the entrance is a nice cozy dining room. The menu covers everything from an array of apps, pizza, cheesesteaks, hoagies, paninis and pasta dishes. The prices are reasonable (given inflation, but pre inflation the prices were still fair based off old menus) and the portions are pretty big. We got the broccoli rabe with sausage appetizer, penne alla vodka, and linguini frutti de mare in marinara sauce. The broccoli rabe and sausage was almost a meal in itself. You get two big sausages and a mountain of sautéed broccoli rab with roasted garlic and pepper flakes. The sausage was nicely grilled and the rab was really tender. We even had enough to take home. The penne alla vodka was cooked perfectly. They advertise all pasta is cooked Al dente and they nailed it. The sauce also has chunks of prosciutto which added another layer of deliciousness. The frutti de mare came with more seafood than I thought it would which is always a nice sight to see. It was full of clams, muscles, shrimp, and calamari. All were perfectly cooked with the exception of 1 muscle that didn't open but hey it happens. The sauce was perfect to sop up using the garlic knots served for the table. It was an epic meal and we can't wait to go back to try some of the other items, mainly their pizza. For us this was a hidden gem because of all the times we pass by we only ever really stopped at Mart Pretzels. In the economy, fairly priced, big portioned, quality food and flavors is a hard combo to find these days so I'm glad we decided to stop by. read more

We ordered spaghetti (capellini) with sausage ($19.50), fried calamari ($13.50), and the baked penne ($19.50). We ordered it to go, so there's not much I can say about the ambiance. The spaghetti was probably some of the worst I've ever had. The noodles were fine, and I suppose the sausage, but I couldn't focus on either of them with how terrible the sauce was. The marinara/pomodoro(?) sauce was so acidic it was like I was tasting bile. I barely even tasted the herbs, I could only taste acid. I was able to get through a few bites before giving up. The calamari was fine. It was some pretty standard calamari. Something that I enjoyed was that they waited to make the calamari until we got there so that it wouldn't get soggy in the time it took for us to get the order. I didn't notice anything wrong with the red sauce that was given with the calamari, so I don't know if they messed up my spaghetti or it's a different kind. I didn't eat the baked penne, my mother had it. The only feedback that she had was that it was "ok". I would not go around 4:00 to 5:00 because the help and the cooks just throw things together, like it was out of a can. After investigating I found out that they have new owners, and that's is clearly the reason why they've gone downhill. I'm from another state but grew up here, and my old experiences at zio's was spectacular. I wouldn't never go back. It's the new ownership. I can tell they do not know how to cook Italian food. Perhaps they're not even Italian. The clams casino was burnt badly. The meatballs had no flavor, and the stuffed shells looked gruesome with what appeared to be canned sauce. Pizza was very average. I used to eat here at least once a week. That is until I called to place an order and the person taking my order was soooo rude and the sandwich wasn't what it used to be. If I had known it was a new owner and the food is now sub par, I would have just hung up. They used to have the best cheese steaks and the absolute best meatballs. Beware: New owners--My husband had a Zio's giftcard for $20 that he was recently gifted and went to use on his lunchbreak. The new owners would not accept Zio's giftcard as they said no more giftcards would be accepted and turned him away. We are huge customers and Zio's is our 1st choice-not anymore. They should honor gift cards or should have figured gc tranfers between old and new owners out as anyone who bought a gc for someone--it won't work and there was no announcement or transparency in this change and step. Bad business. Not a smart move. Where is the purchasers' money? Someone got beat and anyone with a giftcard is out of a giftcard on top of that! My family and I were having a mini celebration and decided to order from Zio's for the first time. When I ordered the food through slice, it said it would arrive between 5:50-6:15. The food ended up coming around 5:15 piping hot! We all got different things and everyone raved about their meal. I had the gorgonzola gnocchi, which was delicious and enough for leftovers the next day. My boyfriend had the buffalo chicken pizza and loved it. Everyone's "dinner" meals came with a side salad and there was enough bread for everyone to have seconds. I'm sad I don't have any photos of the amazing food, but also kind of glad because I'd be drooling at them now! Overall, this place was great and I can't wait to order here again! read more

We've been here a few times, and I always forget to review. Like everywhere, I think they are having trouble finding help. Our waitress was new, so there were a few little mistakes. Nothing huge. She brought the wrong salad and such, but nothing awful. The place is clean and well kept. Now the important part.. Every time, I get the capellino pomedoro. It's wonderful. My husband swaps the angel hair for regular spaghetti. Tastes great either way. We also add a meatball. Overall, I'm a fan of Zio's. Their pizza is great and they have enormous salads that can serve multiple people or be split for two meals. I popped in the day after Thanksgiving to grab a to-go salad - my usual, Greek with grilled chicken. I got it home and the salad looked great. And I love that they serve fresh garlic knots and bread on the side. Unfortunately, the chicken was really rubbery and I had to pick around it, which really only left me with veggies and dressing. I still have to go with four stars because of all the great meals I've had in the past. Hopefully yesterday was a fluke but I may be off their chicken for a while. read more

New managment is very rude. I have been ordering from Zio's for many years multiple times a month. The food has always been decent. We order a pizza, salad and panni last night. The pizza was soggy and the cheese was not even melted. The panni was cold and the bread was not toasted and the fries were soggy. For the salad they sent the wrong dressing (they alway do that) and the chicken was rubbery. We call and the "manager" was very rude told us to send the food back and slice would refund us. Zio's picked the food up. It was a battle with slice because they would not answer the phone for them to process a refund. After the slice finaly got in touch with them the manager would only approve a 50% refund. It is a true shame that the new owner has already ran this great pizza place into the ground. read more

Pretty shocking to pay $67 for 3 sandwiches and 2 sides of fries. Ordered from "old" menu. When I questioned the total while at Pizzeria holding the "new" menu, the manager actually said" yea,it's expensive ". Wish she would have said on the menu we put in the bag has a $10off coupon you can use. Unfortunately I didn't see that til getting home. I can't give them any stars. But, it wouldn't post if none were selected . We were invited to Zio's for dinner with my Son, his wife and their two kids for a Belated Mother's Day dinner. My husband and I arrived 10 minutes before our reservation. We were told it would be a few minutes before we could be seated. So we waited. When my son and his family arrived we were seated. Should've know then, what kind of night it was going to be. 1) no setups. Remember we had to wait to be seated. 2) server comes, gets our beverages. Told her we needed napkins and silverware. 3) we order appetizers 4) brings appetizers, no silverware, and no plates, no napkins for our appetizers 5) server comes back with a handful of silverware and plops them at one end of table. Then leaves and returns with a handful of napkins. We finished our appetizers, then had our salads. Then dinner starts to arrive, One slow meal at a time. Took forever to get 5 meals to our table. Finally get our dinners, which were so, so. One meal was sent back, tasted horrible. Order something else, which had so much salt in it that it was sent back as well. Then we were asked if we wanted the check. Not asked if we wanted anything else, like coffee, tea. If you want a lousy night out with lousy service and food. Go to Zio's I know we'll never set foot in there again Pretty bad night, poor service, horrible food! The high point of our night. We went to Friendly's for dessert. Our server was excellent! Still in the pandemic and not eating inside of places yet, so take out it is. Tried a meatball pizza from Zio's, these meatballs are good by themselves. Ordered the square pie with meatballs and these things were like cut in half making my pizza last for a few meals. 7 out of 10 slices for a rating very good and ingredients were fresh. Other food from this place is very good sandwiches and cheesesteaks. And all dinner entrees make it seem like a good old time Italian meal, take some to go. Very good pizza read more

Recommended by my brother who lives in the area, I tried this strip mall restaurant last week. Wow! The menu is full of amazing choices. Since I was told about their gnocchi I had to try them. Well, I did and they were like clouds of delicious perfection!!!! My husband got the Veal Zio which was also amazing. Their balsamic vinaigrette is delicious and the calamari was lightly fried and extremely tender. Since I was so impressed, I ordered Nona's Margarita pizza to go and that was absolutely fantastic. We had the pasta figoli and it was excellent, the bruschetta was tasty... the bread could have been baked slightly longer, more garlic and seasonings but it wasn't bad. I had a side salad with the balsamic dressing, which is so good you could drink it! We shared a chicken parm meal and DAMN I can't imagine that being for one person! Very very generous portions sizes. Typically, larger portions means less quality and taste but that is not the case here. The service was not . Most likely because every single table was packed. We decided to order dinner and support a local Business tonight and order from Zio's. My son wanted a cheese steak plain with just steak and cheese so he put that in the comments. What was delivered was a bowl with cheesesteak meat in it and no roll. I called and explained the situation and they said they said they interpreted it as meaning no roll and would bring me a roll in 45 min. The steak would be ice cold in 45 min! Saw this place resurrected from old Palombos'. Thought we'd give it a whirl, from work. AS you walk in they did do over haul inside/ Brick oven, revamped the booths, ceilings & paint were warm. Deep booths and nice ceiling fans. Onto the food, the menu was OK, had pastas, antipastos, salads, sandwiches to paninis. I got small margarita pizza, it was Average, thin crust which was nice, but nothing stood out for me. Some of pasta dishes were expensive, didn't have lunch specials or lunch prices.
