Very low key park - at least for the purposes of my visit. I primarily stopped by to go for a quick…read morerun. I think the main trail in the woods is 1.5ish mile loop with a flat terrain. The park also has a decent amount of parking although there were not too many people in the park during my visit. Also, the park/trails were pretty maintained with plenty of markers to keep you going in the right direction. While the park is nice, I probably would not go too far out of my way (30+ minutes by car) to visit unless I want to take advantage of the kayaking/paddle boating opportunities.

There are plenty of great trails to explore, and we even spotted some wildlife along the way. They have good amount of parking it's $5 for entry in summer months. The restrooms are clean and well kept, and there are benches along the trails where you can sit and enjoy the views. Overall, it's a wonderful place to spend some time outdoors, walk the trails, and enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings. Definitely worth visiting if you love nature and scenic views.

There are many trash cans along the paths and a good amount of dog bag stations. There is a restroom in the by the front parking area as well as kayak launch areas and picnic tables. Historical house on site called Whitehurst-Buffington house Circa 1793. with a 5 dollar donation you can take a tour of the house. Hours are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 1-4. Buffington trail and the Whitehurst trail loop is about 1.7 mile. Their trail is very well marked. Even if you get off the trail it is easy to pick it back up. Tags on trees and white marks on trees. We enjoy this hiking because it is right next to a coffee shop. This makes me happy

I could have drove 45 minutes and been in Williamsburg! But I was still in Va Beach. From the General Booth Blvd/ VB proper it's roughly 30 minutes. Honestly those 30 minutes seemed an eternity. It's deep in Pungo closer to the NC border. A beautiful park tucked away, but when you enter the park it spreads out into a nicely manicured area that opens to water access to the North Landing River. There is plenty of shaded space and open space and benches through out. Sheltered picnic areas, concrete corn hole boards, volleyball courses, baseball fields, basketball courts and an 18 hole disc golf course. Plenty of clean bathrooms. Although, some of them were closed for winterization. The bathrooms attached to the rental office close to the boat ramp were open and clean and stocked with soap and toilet paper. It's a huge area on 100 acres so plenty of walking to be done. It's so nice and quiet and peaceful that I almost don't want to share this review. But it will probably stay that way unless you live in the Pungo area or close to it, with it being so far!! It is a one way only loop that circles the inner area of the park. They even have a nice large playground area for kids. In the middle is a little garden. Swimming isn't allowed, the water access is one of the legs of the intracoastal waterway. I remember coming here once, back in 2009 for an Easter picnic in which I was invited. With so many years having passed, it's nice to know it's remained beautiful, but obviously with a lot of additions to it. I remembered it being super lovely out here, but just extremely far. Which is why I think it's taken me so long to return. Honestly, it's so quiet and tranquil that you can be alone with your thoughts and just enjoy nature. I like that it's away from the hubbub and chaos. I just wish I didn't live so far from it.

Every spring they gave the cherry blossom festival. And every year it gets better and better. They did a grand Illumination this year and it was stunning. It was a whole experience. Music and waterfalls and the lights. It was Wonderful!!!!! Bravo to our Parks and Recs for making this park so beautiful. Great food truck and the best coffee truck . Lots of people loved the food trucks and it was cold at night so the coffee truck was the MOST popular

I could've sworn I've reviewed RWP before... but, apparently not!…read more As someone who used to live in Red Mill area, I visited here a few times over the years and think that the cute little Japanese garden area is adorable. Smaller parking lot but there is far more parking in the back area by the golf course. It's famous for the two weekends a year in spring during the Cherry Blossom Festival hosted here. Alas, the lines to pull in are SO long, I have avoided it and never seen it in action - though, it's on the bucket list for some day. It's cute and small, and worth a visit if you're in the area, but it's nothing to make a trip across town solely for under normal circumstances.
