I'll start by saying they did a good job. One of their employees stole from me when I had to leave 15 minutes before he got off work. I can't prove it but he is the only person who has ever been in my home without me being there. He had hinted about getting a tip but I ignored it since I was paying over $20,000 for the job and I feel he was making a good salary. I believe he got his tip one way or the other. It was my fault for leaving. So James if you see this I know it was you! Other times there were at least two men there but this one day it was just him. We have used Back Construction for numerous projects on our home over the last few years. We have nothing but great things to say about the quality and professionalism of their employees. We recently had Serge come into our home to repair some drywall. He did an excellent job and we can definitely recommend him. My husband and I hired Back Construction to 1) Replace our front door, 2) Install a ladder to our attic, and 3) Do some minor painting and dry wall repair. While I am confident that there are people in this world who love having workers tear up their home to make improvements and nothing has ever gone wrong, I am not one of those people. I don't enjoy it, something inevitably goes wrong (sometimes very wrong) and this job was no exception. But what was exceptional was Schon Holman. HE MADE EVERYTHING RIGHT! Truly, he went above and beyond to reassure me that I would be happy with the quality of the home improvements by the time the project had ended. I trusted him and he did not disappoint. In fact, this job was completed yesterday, and yesterday I requested another quote from Back Construction (basement repairs for sump pump installation). I am specifically requesting Schon. This company is a first class act! Zach and Wes were completely responsive and attentive to our needs. When it came to completing the work, the team was clean, thorough and professional. Most companies that give you a quote ahead of the project will either finish the job at the price given or higher. Not these guys, the job was finished at less than originally quoted. We ordered five Pella windows from Back on May 3. For $ 15,200.00 with hardware-- locks and sash-lifts--installed. We knew they were expensive but we kept hearing about the work quality. The windows were installed the last week in June. The two guys who installed the windows (independent contractors hired by Back) were punctual, polite, professional, & did a great job. Nice guys. Beautiful windows. No sash-lift hardware, ten pieces missing. The double hung, true-divided eight over eight pane windows were predrilled for sash lifts to fit the hardware ordered. Then they offered plastic window lifts In July installed by someone from Pella. Wrong hardware. Then they passed us along to the Pella people. Four months later we still don't have the sash lifts. I call and text weekly. Nice guys but no sash lifts. Today is September 8. Not Pellas fault. Not Backs fault. They blame Baldwin Hardware. I am sure if we owed them money we'ld have the sash lifts. I hesitated to go public because you know, stuff happens, but now I'm outa patience. I think they call this ' ghosting ' now. Order your Pella windows from Lowe's, Home Depot or directly from Pella. order your own hardware on amazon. Overnight delivery. Hire your local contractor to install the windows. Just got a quote of $951.00 labor to replace a standard 6 panel door..... extremely overpriced for a small job. (Door not included)

I needed a new front door. Not a big job. The door to my 1956 house was the original door and the frame and door had sunk over the years. I asked around from neighbors and friends, and everyone said "Back Construction. Not cheap, but perfect work. " The work was outstanding. Every employee was professional and the team that installed the newly made door was amazing. No, they're not cheap. Neither was my house. I wish I had hired them for other work I had done that was not done nearly as well. I do not mind paying for quality. read more

Handyman came to house. Very pleasant. Said they could do everything I needed. He would email an estimate to me. I did not receive the estimate as promised so I called. Handyman said they had been busy but as a matter of fact he was working on the estimate when I called. I never got the estimate. I never got a call back. Poor employee and horrible representative of Back Construction. read more

I had some issues with my 25 year old home so I called Back construction. I had quite a bit to get taken care of such as new back doors, gutter cleaning, painting, dry wall and 3 new ceiling fans. The gutters still gushed when it rained in the front. The ceiling fans were round at the top base where the original ones where square. They gave me no clue that that was a problem . The other ceiling fan the top up against ceiling was not secure and it dropped down the first time I turned it on. The doors wouldn't lock after two weeks of installation. They said it was the way the house was made. They were going to just do that. The other doors I had locked perfectly. With each and every concern I had after work was completed was only excuses with no one backing up Back Construction. I had to get gutters cleaned again. Pay for adjustments on doors so they would lock. One plate was found with only one screw. The plate had to be set down a good 1/4 if an inch and two screws. Another carpenter has to come in and wrap the top of base of the ceiling fans. Not once did Back come and investigate a customer s concerns to try to get it right. At one point , I called and set up an appointment and no one showed or answer the phone when they knew who was calling. These issues should have been brought to my attention, corrected, or at least pretend that they cared. Obvious, when gutter in front was cleaned the second time it hadn't been touched. This company I would never recommend. In speaking once to a fellow , I had a lot of trouble with these things and got no one back , that I wouldn't recommend his company he said" do what you have to do". I'm sorry, but this company is a joke, but they don't joke about the money. read more

They do not follow up after you call and call. I am so disappointed because around town they are touted as being "the best". Maybe they are when they finally come and do the work, but if you can't get them to call back, to me that says they don't need my money or job. Kind of unprofessional. read more
