We enjoyed a treat in and are elated about this being our new "hometown" bakery. The staff was superb, the store beyond adorable, the selection of treats awesome, but the taste of each was beyond delicious. Between my daughter, husband and myself, we had a white chocolate cupcake, a chocolate/chocolate cupcakes and a pecan cookie (ugh, forget the name, but like a wedding cookie but giant size). Once I sat down I looked at the display case over and over again, only realizing I missed the cherry bars and the peanut butter cookies....certainly means we will be back for more. It's probably a good thing that we live 20 miles away from town or I'd be here too often and would weigh 6x my current weight in no time. It's superb that this is only a block from my hair stylist, ensuring that each time I schedule a hair appointment that I get to swing by for a treat first. This place just oozes small town charm! Upon walking in your eyes are treated to a smorgasbord of treats behind little glass cases. I chose the butter pecan cupcake (definitely big enough to split) and 4 cake balls. OMG the almond cake ball (the white one in the pic) was deeeeelicious and very pretty with the glitter icing. Our experience here was hit or miss. In general, the selection was small. 8 cupcake types, 6 cookie types, and 4 cake ball types. They also sold cinnamon rolls, pies, and cakes in very limited quantities. The atmosphere is cute, but the bakery just has a few tables for customers. There were only two other small groups visiting the bakery but there were traffic flow problems around the shop. Cinnamon Rolls - 5 stars These are why we visited Jeri's in the first place, and we are still glad we made the stop. These are the real deal- not your over processed cinnabon . Homemade, with a hint of wheat, these giant buns were sticky, sweet, and flavorful! Hint: They also microwave well so take one for the road. Cookies- 3 stars We tried the snicker-doodle and molasses cookies which were large, chewy, pretty good, and tasted homemade. We also tried the sand cookie which was very similar to a mexican wedding cookie. It was a little dry but not bad. Cupcakes-2 stars They were $2.75 each, which was a little steep. We tried the Chocolate Italian Creme (icing was bland and cake was dry) and Peanut Butter Chocolate (icing was good and cake was ok). However, for the price, we expected more... like wider selection, more original selection, super tasty icing, and moist cake. If we are in the area again, we will most likely return for the cinnamon rolls and we'll probably try the cake balls. read more

Jeri's was great before, with new management, it's even better! They have mastered the art of packing in big time flavor while keeping the cookie/cake ball/cupcake moist with just the right texture. Of course, the helpful and friendly staff is just "icing on the cake" (sorry, I couldn't resist!). The other stuff, cobblers and such, are creative and delicious, but I try not to think about them. That way I can just go in for a cookie, and it really isn't my fault if something totally unexpected appears in front of me and simply HAS to be added to the load of stuff going home with me. I ordered 3 doz lemon cookies for Labor Day and had to hide them bc my family didn't want to wait until the bar-b-que. I think I was only able to get 2 cookies...and half of one was shared. The wedding cake cupcakes are AMAZING!! One of the owners shared that they put almond paste or flavoring in the batter and go thru many pounds of butter for the buttercream frosting (which is really tasty!) Bought a few things today to sample. Was not disappointed! Bought a lemon bar, banana bread, and about 6 different cookies. Everything was fresh and delicious. They are generously sized so had to cut small pieces to sample everything. Love the decor too. Speaks to my heart especially the old pictures. Because we are needing a cake for our wedding, we decided to go with a baker and the entire team has been beyond helpful and friendly. They all were knowledgeable about the industry and its surrounding (competitors,venues, etc). We booked that day! Within time, we found out that our venue location needed to change so with that being said, I crossed my fingers hoping to possibly get a refund since we wouldn't be in their area. I was lucky enough to be invited to a housewarming in which the most incredible desserts were offered. My first impression was how these sweets looked (which was professional and very appetizing). I have to tell you that I am personally a "baby/wedding shower white cake kinda gal, so I went straight for the "wedding cake cupcake"... OMG! Great flavor and consistency... didn't waste a bit of it! Then I moved on to the "sandtart" cookies which is another of my favorites.. again... incredibly well made. Last but definitely not least... was the "thumbprint" cookie with buttercream icing on top.... amazing!!!! I couldn't believe that one bakery can make all their desserts taste like this. I've purchased two large birthday cakes and the frosting never seems to soften after being in the refrigerator. I was told to set the cake out for a few hours before serving, which I did, but the frosting was still like hardened butter. The cakes had a good flavor, but the frosting was hard after sitting out four hours. You must order at least a week or two before you need your cake. Cakes are pricey. My cakes cost about $90 for a 10-inch double layer cake with minimal decoration. read more

The bakery changed owners about one year ago and is now named Jeri's Back Home Bakery. I have held off writing a review until now. The new owners received Jeri's recipes as a part of the purchase, but it is evident that they have modified them. The new owners are focused on high quality and do not have as large a selection as large bakeries. We recently purchased 7 kinds of pastries for a dessert party and WOW, they are so much better than before. The cinnamon rolls, pies, etc. are so sinful (isn't that what you really want when you go to a bakery???!!!) The couple who now own the bakery are super friendly and have made us feel so welcome. AMAZING! Cutest place I've ever been. I tried the pina colada cupcake which was very very good. The cake was very moist and the icing had pineapple and coconut in it, delicious. My son had a wedding cake cupcake because we were told it was the best seller. I of course stole a bite of this as well and it was to die for! We bought some cookies to take home to try, just the peanut butter and the molasses though and those two were a hit at home. I'll most definitely be back to try the cake balls and to order my sons birthday cake as it is coming up next month! This bakery is a must see for everyone! My friend suggested I go here for cupcakes that I needed for a little birthday get together. The cupcakes were terrible. The cake was so dry it was hard to swallow, and the icing was just plain nasty. These were worse than Walmart cupcakes. I will never go here again for any baked goods. I LOVE the thumbprint cookies!! Oh yeah, and the sand cookies! Oh yeah, and the ranger cookies! And the wedding cake cupcake (the best cupcake I have ever had). A previous reviewer pointed out the lack of selection. This is a locally owned business that tries to anticipate the public's need for each day and not have a lot left over at the end of the day. IMO, It would be difficult to stay in business if there was a lot of waste. Ok, back to my review: and I love the ugly pies!! Delicious and just enough to share with another person...except I don't. I eat the whole thing!!! And when my family, including extended family, wants a special cake for a celebration, we go to Jeri. She made our parent's cake for their 50th wedding anniversary and we just described our parents to her and told her we would trust her judgment as to the decorating. The only thing we requested is that it be in a tiered wedding cake design. When we went to pick it up it was so perfect for my parents that I got tears in my eyes. Seriously. Not even kidding. We still get comments from folks that attended the party on how good the cake was. To make a long story a little longer...this is a very good bakery and they put a lot of detail into special orders. First, I ordered a Birthday cake for at least 20 one month in advance, and asked for it to be delivered to a local restaurant by 2 PM. The cake was late. When I called the bakery they apologized and said the delivery was in an accident. The cake was okay, but they had to send someone else out to deliver. Fair enough. Stuff happens. But I asked for a sheet cake, chocolate with white icing and blue flowers. What was delivered; a chocolate cake, that had been previously frozen and then thawed. (You know the taste!) It tasted awful. Decorations; white icing, poorly smoothed, and turquoise twirly things, not sure what they were supposed to be but they weren't flowers. For the $60 price, am I disappointed? I would have been disappointed if this had been a $25 cake. If it would cost $100 for a nice cake, they should have told me because money was not an issue here. This was a special occasion where many family members drove hours to attend, and the cake was terrible. What an embarrassment. Shame on you guys! read more
