I work with a lot of talented physical therapists, and my good friend and co-founder of Clinicient Jerry Henderson researched clinics in Portland to give my wife the recommendation of Portland Sports Medicine and Spine Physical Therapy. He chose them based on their background in the McKenzie spine techniques of manual therapy that are evidence based and provide results that have not only freed her from pain, but started the restoration of function after only a few visits. We have been elated with the results. From the initial experience of setting an appointment, to the reception by the front office staff, to the handling of our somewhat challenging insurance provider (United Healthcare), to the outcomes my wife has experienced, our experience has been nothing short of AMAZING. She injured her back and shoulder and was practically immobilized from the pain. She went to a chiropractor and massage therapists, and while those offered temporary relief from the pain, they did not address the core issues. Reading about her, I was happy to see that she specializes in car-accidents, etc. I made my first appointment. I've worked with a few Cranial Sacral therapist from many different schools, but not yet from the Ortho-Bionomy® and Cranial Sacral Therapy developed by British Osteopath Arthur Lincoln Pauls in the 1970s. Very cool :) a new approach. I was up for the experience. I've been is so many car accidents, my healthcare team said that my case is very complex, which puts me on the long term path to healing. I really loved my first session with Elizabeth. She sensed that the damage to my body from a car accident back in college was the place to start. I could feel the energy shifting through different parts of my body as she worked on me. The next morning I woke up with markedly less pressure in my head. I have now slept very deeply for 2 nights. I reschedule appointments and the person on the phone can't find it in the schedule, or doesn't change the appointment. The front desk is inconsistent and often incompetent (I think it's often the PT staff covering). No one seems to know what's going on. Their billing department is a mess. I pay my copay every single time I go and yet I get bills in the mail from collections. I complain to the front desk, they say they'll take care of it, they don't. It's a nuisance and frustrating. The good news: Tyler is a great acupuncturist and he's the only reason I go and keep coming back. But I am on the fence about whether I want the hassle of this place just to get treatment.
