By the time I arrived at the Margate Fall Festival the lines for all the food were really long. It was either eat at Pork O'Rican, wait in another line for over an hour, or be hungry. Pork O' Rican it is! According to Pork O' Rican this is their story "We are a Puerto Rican food truck who also provides catering for corporate events, parties, festivals and more. We have been cooking authentic Puerto Rican food for years and wanted to be able to share it with the community. Our famous signature dish is our roast pork. Amongst that are some of our top sellers including tostone platters, rice & bean platters, empanadas, alcapurria, and more. We just want to share the Puerto Rican culture and provide the community with the natural flavors of Puerto Rico. This is a family run food truck. Mom and Dad cooked, their daughter took orders, and they even put their young son to work. By the time we got to order they were out of the arroz con gondules, yellow rice and pigeon peas. Fortunately they still had the bacalaitos, codfish fritters which my friend really wanted and she also ordered the alcapurias. I chose the roast pork platter with rice hold the beans ($12). A water was an additional $2. I was pleased that they took both card and cash payments. I gave the plantains to my friend who enjoyed them. The roast pork portion was small, had really hard pieces, and was swimming in pork grease. Once I dislodged it from the grease and shredded it, and incorporated it into the rice it was okay and it did the job of abating my hunger. To be fair my friend really enjoyed her food and she is Puerto Rican so you should trust her opinion more than mine. This is one of those times I really wished Yelp had half stars. If I averaged our two opinions it would be a 3.5. After reading the owner's thoughtful and fair reply and other good reviews I would be open to trying them again when they aren't so busy.

They look good, left them for later. Empanadas are clearly homemade, they are a nice size. Got the beef picadillo ones, haven't touched them yet. I did, however, try their beef Alcapurria. This is a fast food dish unique to Puerto Rico, it is like a tamale but made of mashed plantains, filled with any number of things (this was beef picadillo) and then deep-fried. OMG. An empanada with a plantain crust. Some notes. They did not give me any condiments and didn't ask if I wanted any. Tostones really require Salsa Rosa (pink sauce) or some mojo. I, fortunately, had the ingredients to make it myself, it's ketchup mixed with mayo and usually some spicy vinegar. I would ask and make sure they give you something to dip in. They did take credit card payments and put it in my trunk while I waited so relatively contactless.

I specifically went there for the Indian samosas and the Russian and slap chips. My spouse is South African and although we have tried several times to make slap chips we can't quite get it right. Food came quickly and was nice and hot, the samosas were perfect, spice level and crispness of the pastry. Russian and slap chips were delicious as well. I got to meet and chat to both of the owners who were very friendly. Would love to come back if we move down to Florida.

I spent approximately $150 on five slabs because I was purchasing them as a gift for someone else. There is an important detail that I want to clarify because the owner's response does not accurately describe what happened. I actually placed this order online. When I went to pick it up, I had to wait approximately 20 minutes for the order to be prepared. The biltong was still not vacuum-sealed when I received it. The owner later stated that online orders are vacuum-sealed because they may spend several days in transit. That makes this situation even more frustrating because this WAS an online order. If I had been told that my order was not going to be vacuum-sealed, I absolutely would have requested it, especially because I was sending the biltong to someone else as a gift. I was also a repeat customer. This was my third purchase from the store, and my previous biltong purchases had been vacuum-sealed without me having to specifically request it. I therefore had no reason to believe I suddenly needed to ask for something that had been done with my previous purchases. I took the biltong home and refrigerated it as instructed. Within approximately three days, all five slabs developed extensive mold, including green mold. I contacted the business because I had spent $150 on a product that I could no longer comfortably give as a gift. The owner called me back and told me they would not replace the biltong because it should have been kept refrigerated. The problem with that explanation is that it WAS refrigerated. The business later explained that the biltong is made without preservatives, that proper refrigeration is required, that they perform monthly quality-control testing, and that they cannot control how a perishable product is handled after it leaves their possession. I understand that a business cannot control everything after a product leaves the store. However, I followed the refrigeration instructions, and I contacted them only about three days after receiving the product. I was not asking for a replacement months later. I was reporting extensive mold, including green mold, on a $150 purchase almost immediately after receiving it. There is also a contradiction in the explanation regarding vacuum sealing. I was told online orders are vacuum-sealed because they can spend several days in transit. My order was an online order, yet it was not vacuum-sealed. I even waited approximately 20 minutes for the order, and nobody told me that the slabs would not be vacuum-sealed or that I needed to specifically request it. Had I known, I would have absolutely requested vacuum sealing because I was sending the biltong to someone else. I am not claiming that I can personally determine exactly what caused the mold.
