Just wanted to share a quick update on my second drop-in class. Coach Suzie helped me tailor the WOD to my current level--pushing me beyond my limits in a way that was both intense and rewarding. We also connected over her CrossFit journey, and she offered valuable tips on post-WOD stretching that I've already started using. I can feel the difference in my recovery. I'm 62 and just completed 3 weeks, 4 times a week, of cross fit. Love it. Previously, I regularly ran on a treadmill and rowed, but cross fit makes me feel so much better. I work out to keep my mind and body young. Although cross fit can be hard, I just do my best, and know that it's a mindset challenge as much as a workout. At my age, it's important to me that I do not injure myself, which isn't an issue at cross fit for me. The coaches (and other members) are great, super supportive, good peeps. Without question, I am positively not the best athlete at cross fit based on my age today (maybe the worst!), and I adjust workouts to survive (don't tell anyone), but the community and facility makes me feel like a young athlete again and I enjoy it. Incredibly welcoming place for beginners! Just starting CF at age 55 and specifically choose BCCF because they have a beginner class. Class starts with icebreaker questions to get to know one another. Then WOD (workout of the day) is explained and demonstrated with variations for different levels of fitness. Workouts aren't easy but BCCF meets each person where they are and strives to make you the best you can be. First class if free and there is a beginner rate so no excuse not to try! read more

Love BCCF, knew we would! My daughter is the youngest athlete there (11), and she absolutely loves it, sees how strong she's getting, and learning positive and healthy body image from the strong women she sees everyday. She is in the beginners class primarily because of her age, but Coach Zoe sees her strength and potential and pushes appropriately and safely. The community is open, friendly, and supportive. The pros: huge, convenient location. Excellent equipment. Kids' space. Tough workouts. The cons: Poor coaching. The point of CrossFit is that it's infinitely modifiable. They're not great at that here. If you're injury free, in great shape, and familiar with CrossFit, you'll be okay, though the fact that the coaches spend more time photographing the WODs for their Facebook page rather than coaching should give you pause. There's also a sense of community lacking - I want a box where people will cheer for each other - that doesn't happen here the way I'd like it to. read more

I would t come to this gym if it killed me. From what I can see as one of those trainers has been harassing me all day on a Facebook post trying to make me seem like thief. Nothing against the gym but I would stay clear of Robin. One wrong word to her and she will blast you all over Facebook. Sorry if this is petty but I would t want someone who is bully to someone she doesn't even know train me. Your supposed to trust these people with your life right?? [Insert beam of light and a choir singing "Ahhhh!" here] This place is awesome! My neighbor dragged me to a class, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I walked in and discovered that I received a week of free classes so I could give them a try. Wow. By the middle of the first class, I was crunching numbers in my head so I could justify spending money on a monthly membership to my husband. Since I live in HR and we have unlimited access to the recreation centers, I knew it was going to take some convincing. ;) So far, every workout session has been different. The owners keep it fresh, and most importantly, they keep you wanting to come back. I actually look forward to exercising! (Wow, did I just say that?!) Everyone who attends the classes are also very motivational. This isn't your typical, cushy sit-and-be-fit class... I find myself pushing myself to my limit every time. Prior to visiting BackCountry, I had been on an extensive exercise plan and working out, but I had hit my plateau. In one week, this place has changed that and I can already see the transformation in my body. If you're stuck in a rut and truly ready for a change, I encourage you to give this place a try. If you're an athlete who wants to take your body to the next level, this is also the place for you. My daughter is in PM kindergarten, so I bring her with me in the mornings (for free, might I add). They have a fenced off place with toys and things to keep your kiddos busy while you work out. Remember: summer is just around the corner... only you have the power to determine how you're going to feel about swimsuit shopping. ;) read more

Steve and Ashley run a first class operation for sure! Tons of space and equipment, excellent coaches who eager to help out, great music, and a super clean gym. If you are looking for a place to get in and got r done, BCCF is your place. Seems that good people attract good people in that everyone I talked to at the gym was positive and encouraging. Love this place. I'm in my mid 40's so it was a little intimidating being around all the young studs (both male and female). What I love be is that the coaches are extremely helpful and encouraging. I've been a member of this box since late 2013 and I attend the various classes offered at least 4 days a week, and this box and its staff are absolutely amazing! I completely disagree with a previous reviewer who cited poor coaching and inability to modify WOD's. This is absolutely the opposite of the experience my fiance and I have had, in fact they have repeatedly exceeded our expectations in every facet possible including coaching and help with modifying. There is an amazing sense of community and you will consistently find members of this box going out of their way to make people feel welcome and cheer people on! I am very grateful to be a member of this box and consider myself very lucky to be a part of the CrossFit community! My only regret is not having found CrossFit sooner. I have been a member of Backcountry Crossfit for just under a year. I didn't really know what to expect of any crossfit place, but was immediately impressed with the staff at Backcountry. It must stem from the caring attitude of the owners, but all the staff is great as well. Very knowledgable and want to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly to make sure you don't get injured. Although they are in fantastic shape, and you will eventually get in the best shape of your life, you don't have to be some incredible athlete when you join Backcountry. Just show up, give it your best, and watch the transformation happen. This place is great! read more

Crossfit is about community. Pushing past the breaking point together. Backcountry Crossfit has completely lost sight of this. They used to care about their community. It seems to be just about the money for the owners now. While growth at a box is good, it is not necessary to turn yourself into the "Globo Gym" of crossfit! They may program WODs, but this is NOT true crossfit. You may as well add a smoothie bar; Globo Gym would have one! What a shame. They started out great, but clearly have lost the vision that Glassman had in place when coming up with the idea of crossfit. If you want to attend a box that is more concerned about their photography than about their clients form, feel free to give them $150 a month for unlimited class. Who cares how many certifications your coaches have if they aren't using them to coach properly. So sad! read more

I have found that Crossfit workouts are fun and fast. I'm amazed at how much I accomplish in just 15 minutes. It really strengthened my core and I feel stronger in just one month. I've been amazed with overall results so far and never knew I had so many muscles that I wasn't using. The coaches are fantastic in helping you try out and learn the new moves. I would highly recommend BackCountry Crossfit to anyone whether you are novice or a workout junky! read more
