This Christmas my Son,and Daughter-in-Law surprised me on Christmas Day with a 75 gallon aquarium new set up, including a cabinet stand. As a result of this gift I got to know the staff at Petco on Casy Blvd, quiet well. They have been a God sent to me in helping me with seting up information for my new community home for my fish. I purchased fish and accessories from them. Each and every time I came in the staff treated me as a friend and was glad to help me in every way. One young man working there went out of his way to assist me in every way. I am sorry, but I don't recall his name, but if he sees this, tanks to you I have a nice home for my fish and I am sure I will se you again.

My wife & I usually trim her ourselves, but it is worth the money to take her to the PetSmart on Monticello. The staff was very nice, if a little laid-back (which helps the dogs stay calm, I'm sure). They listened to me when I described my dog's ailments and special needs, and they were very sweet to her. They paid attention to her reactions (she does not like the hair dryer) and gave me a full report when I returned. I had the advantage of arriving at 7:00AM on a slow day, so they were able to finish her in under 3 hours. The entire process is visible from the store through the glass except for the kennel in the back. I will definitely return.

On our last two visits, our dog sat in a kennel for three hours before grooming even began. They frequently cite the store policy of a three-hour grooming window, but I find this policy unreasonable. Better scheduling would allow grooming to start closer to the actual appointment time and improve the overall experience. I was advised that, for an additional $15, I could schedule an expedited service that would place my pet in the "priority" line. However, when I went through the appointment process to check, I did not see this option by the time I reached checkout--or it was not clearly displayed. Furthermore, if everyone chooses the expedited service, the underlying issue of overbooking remains, and pets will still end up waiting in cages for hours before being groomed.

We happened upon this pet store while out and about, thinking we might find some natural perches…read morefor our parakeets. We ended up taking home two hamsters. We received a fairly good deal on the hamsters and accessories, which we appreciated. Here's the thing though...the young employees really need to educate themselves on some of these small pets. Two hamsters shouldn't reside in the same habitat, they do not require a "friend" and are solo creatures. They don't actually "like to climb", rather when the habitat is too small, they will climb to try and escape out of frustration, as well as chew on the bars (harmful). We are housing the two hamsters in separate DIY habitats that are over 4 feet in length. Hamsters are small but require a large square-inches habitat with lots and lots of enrichment. We also discovered once home that these were not same-sex, we were told that they are females but one is definitely a boy. I pin this error on the lack of supervision of the store's hamster habitat, one side with females and the other side with males. Kids are in there handling the hamsters and may be distracted by all the cuteness and put one back on the opposite side. Having the hamsters handled frequently is probably not the worst thing, as these are sweet and friendly little hamsters and they love being handled, but definitely they need more forethought in housing them in completely separate areas so there is no mix-up and no one takes home a pregnant female (female hamsters go into heat every 4 days). This all being said....the store has a lot of small exotic pets (birds, spiders, snakes, fish), it was about as clean as I would expect it to be with two young people working there on a Saturday afternoon. Thankfully the animals we saw looked healthy.

She needed a cone for her head and we were driving down to Petco, but decided to give the small pet business a phone call to see if they had the cone and if they were open. The lady on the phone was very nice including explaining dog neck size. I have a big dog and very often don't find stuff in her size. They closed in 10 min I was 15 min away. She very nicely said that they would be there after closing so I could run in. I went in with a picture on my cell phone so I could show her what size my dog was. But she had all the sizes waiting for me at the front and I could try to see what would fit her, without having to dig around. $24 for an XL cone. Great price and very nice person. I ended up leaving my phone there because of me pulling it out to show how big my dog was. We called it and they picked up, we told them we would be there tomorrow to pick it up but was told VERY nicely that if we ran they would stay these so I could get it. THANK YOU GUYS, I needed it for work this morning. And thank you to the young lady who get stuck waiting in for me. I know you wanted to go home 20 min earlier and again THANK YOU for sticking behind so I could get it. We never liked buying from PetCo anyways. Prices were always so high and they never really have what I need. I would advise you to give whatever small business you need something from a quick call to make sure they have it on hand. So you don't get mad if you get there and they don't have whatever it is. We had been driving to Oyster Point to go to Care-alot. But now we have a new pet store. (Review based on the bird department)…read more This place was absolutely FANTASTIC! I'm not a bird owner, just a person who likes to hang out with feathered friends every once in a while. The staff for the bird section was absolutely wonderful and answered all the questions we had. It's very important to consider that THESE ARE LIVING BEINGS. Treat them with respect, handle with care, etc. If you choose to handle the birds, there IS a possibility of you getting bit, clawed, pooped on, etc. and it's NOT anywhere close to zero. I advise being especially careful with the macaws, who bite HARD. They have very strong beaks, muscles, and claws that can easily punch holes in skin and scratch. Even the smaller birds are quite nippy, but aren't as likely to break skin (though they certainly do sometimes). Most of the nipping and biting can be attributed to affection, but is just as likely to cause infection (a fun play on words, but still true!). If you don't know how to handle birds, do not go in expecting to come out a professional, or go in with the expectation of all of the birds immediately loving you. These birds see upwards of hundreds of people a day and likely have no idea what to expect from you. I recommend talking with the employees, who I can't guarantee are all as nice as the people we talked to, but likely know the birds at least a little bit, and can help children and people wanting to interact in a safer way than just involving without caution.

I've done plenty of research online, but this was my first time going to look at birds in person. Seeing this was a family run business, I decided to bring my business here rather than a big box store. Big mistake. Almost everyone working seemed to be stuck up teenagers and young adults. My family was in the store for about 30 min and not a single employee offered any assistance. Not even a simple hello. The bird section was absolute chaos. There's TONS of birds jammed into a small corner of the store which seems to be, by far, their most popular animal. The aisles are cramped and it's hard to hear anything with all the birds chirping away. There were 2 employees feeding/ tending to birds. They were pretty much ignoring everyone. I tried to ask a few questions about different species, yet I felt like an annoyance to them.. then I simply got told, if you're new to birds, just get a cockatiel. The guy wouldn't really give any information on any of the other species. I'm trying to make sure I have everything I need in my home before buying a bird, but it seems like they'd rather you just pay $$ now and quit bothering them. There's a bunch of signs up saying NO PICTURES everywhere. It felt like a prison with the wide variety of threatening signs all over the place. I did notice the cages seemed very over priced. An A&E cage I saw on Chewy for $300 was marked up to like $700 in there. The cockatiels were a couple hundred dollars more than Pet Smart. I wanted to avoid going to somewhere like Pet Smart or Petco to get a pet bird, but after this experience, I'll just take my business there. At least they have employees that seem like they care about helping customers. It's a shame to see a local business that can't provide better service than corporate big box stores. If it wasn't for your exorbitant prices, I suspect you'd be out of business by now.
