I pick up my dog food once a month usually so I have been going there for the past 7months. But today I went in tried picking up my dog food which my sister ordered, but the girl in the front was just completely rude. No, greetings or hi how can I help you and as soon as I walked in she completely looked at me different. Regardless I came in walked up and said I needed to pick up my dog food, she asked can I get a last name. Usually I order my food online myself so knowing my sister bought it this time I used my last name and completely forgot she has gotten married recently and changed her last name. So when I gave her my last name the girl in the front looked at me like I'm crazy but I showed her screenshots with the order number and receipt that shows everything. She completely ignored that and asked for the last name so I just called my sister resolved it and gave her the right last name. After I said the last name she just stares at me for a second gives me a weird look and turned to look at her co worker then she kind of slowly turned around as she's hesitant to give me the dog food. When she did give me the dog food nothing was said no thank you or anything. Kind of sad I've been getting my dog food here for about half a year now and this one incident will have me look for another place to get my dog food from. Maybe try hiring people that will have them come back and not feel uncomfortable JUST TO PICK UP DOG FOOD can't imagine walking around asking for help about food with the kind of enthusiasm that the employee gives off. Skoolz of Fish is run by a very nice guy named Rama that I found through a Craigslist posting about 4 or so years ago. He started selling fish out of his house, but would only meet with you somewhere else to give you the fish. Now, he has a location off of Chamberlayne Ave in downtown RVA where you can go see the stock he has for yourself! The location is a bit iffy, in fact, the first time I came here, I was a bit hesistant to get out of my car...but rest assured that Rama is awesome. In fact, I'm not the only one who thinks so as I've seen several other customers come to him, especially when they know he has a new shipment coming in! I've since moved away from RVA, but I've heard he sells both freshwater and saltwater fish nowadays (he only had freshwater when I was setting up my tank). If he doesn't have it, he can definitely source it for you. I know for a fact that he has gotten axolotls in the past! Rama is very helpful with any questions you may have and very professional. His stock is always changing, so the best thing to do is either keep up with his facebook page or call him to see what he has. He's only at the Chamberlayne Ave location for a few hours everyday, but I'm pretty sure that he's flexible and can work out a meet up time with you if you can't come during his hours. It was dirty, cluttered, poorly maintained, and looked completely neglected. The overall environment was disgusting and did not give me any confidence that the animals were being properly cared for. What bothered me the most was seeing lizards in enclosures without their heating/basking lamps on. These are basic requirements for reptiles, and seeing animals kept like that was extremely concerning. The condition of some of the tanks and enclosures was just as bad. This place needs a serious reality check. Selling animals while keeping them in conditions like this is completely unacceptable. If you're thinking about buying a fish or reptile here, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere until the store gets its act together. Absolutely one of the worst-maintained animal stores I've been in. The animals deserve much better.

However, when I called to discuss it with the owner, he was more than happy to help. He went through and investigated the situation/preference cards, did not blame it on staff, all while trying to provide the best customer service he could. They were able to fit my two dogs in last minute which I appreciated and they did an excellent job. Even if it was a sub optimal groom, having an owner who works with customers to try and navigate problems and make them right makes this business stand out. Thank you!
