Went here again on Sunday April 19th 2026 with my dad for some dinner. We parked, walked in and sat ourselves at a booth by the bar. Inside of the restaurant was very crowded, but we were able to find a spot. Everyone helps out around here, but our server was Josh, and a few others checked on us throughout as well. Finally was given a drink menu with the special drinks on it, and decided to try The Cake by the Ocean Drink, and my dad got the 3 olives cherry vodka.The Cake by the ocean drink is my new favorite! For appetizers we got the loaded nachos, which came out in a timely manner, and was delicious. Then our burgers/ sandwiches were ready. I ordered the Roy Rodgers, and my dad ordered the cowboy sandwich. The Roy Rogers burger was a burger with onion rings, bbq sauce, and it was very delicous and enjoyable. We felt like a burger, which is why I came here. Service was on par. they do have a credit card fee here, and in total it was $76.90. Paid with a credit card and left a cash tip. Great spot for a late night cap, big screens. and live music! The lemon pepper wings are a must--crispy, tangy, and hands-down some of the best I've had. We came in on a whim one night and ended up staying way longer than planned, just soaking in the vibe. The live music in the patio was full of energy. It felt like one of those spots where everyone's just there to have a good time. The bartenders made us feel right at home, even remembered my drink by the second round. I loved that the crowd was a mix of regulars and new faces, all easy to talk to. This place isn't just somewhere to grab food and drinks--it's a little pocket of good energy and great people. Backyard is a great sports bar. The atmosphere is friendly and there has been times I had to defend my team from abuse by an opposing fan. That usually ends with "your team still sucks and "take one from the bucket". And the food is typical bar food (but better) with a few surprises thrown in. My favorite is The Jersey Turnpike, which is made with Taylor Ham(or Pork roll depending on where you grew up in Jersey) American cheese and get the egg. This is a great place for groups. This was a place that I have been wanting to go to for about 3 years. We are down in this area for a few months every year and we finally made it. I was surprised at how great this place and the staff were here. The place is not a typical sports bar but has some areas of stadium seating in front of large screen TV's, a large bar area both inside and out and very dark inside but in a good way. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. Our server was great but what I was impressed with is that every other server that passed by our table asked us if we were OK or if we needed to order anything else and then would put the orders in and deliver them. This was great teamwork and everyone was very upbeat. The music was good and the food was also very good with the exception of the grouper bites which tasted very fishy. We mentioned this to one of the servers who said they would take care of it and bring us another one but this never transpired so for that reason I cannot really give them a 5 star but more of a 4.5 stars if I could. Their prices for happy hour were very reasonable as well. We went right at the beginning of happy hour and there were several tables available but by the time we left the place was full. My wife and I will definitely be going back again because it is a great atmosphere with good food and reasonable pricing. Love this place but be warned, it gets packed on football days. More so on Sundays. You have outdoor and indoor options. The deck has a good sized bar and tables all around overlooking the Intercostal Waterway. There is also an area for a live band which they frequently have playing when a game isn't on the numerous TVs. Inside is nice as well. Long bar, booths in the sides, some tables and about 10 leather (maybe vinyl) recliners facing numerous TVs. They fill up early on game day. The beer is cold and they usually have specials during NFL games. I can't say anything about the food because we usually come just for the college games. Definitely a cool place. read more

Backyard Sports Bar is a nice place to catch some sporting events in a bar type environment in northern Myrtle Beach. They've got several sections including a main dining area, an outdoor area, and even rooms with plush chairs where you're up close to the big screens. This is probably an ideal place to watch any big sporting event or even casually view a football game. We were there for baseball playoffs, and there was a decent crowd that really died down after 10 PM. To start off, we ordered the mozzarella bats, which would have just been better off termed mozzarella sticks. They were the mass food service frozen kind with the thicker breading you can find at many bars/pubs. They were pretty run of the mill with similarly average tasting marinara sauce. For meals, we ordered the Chicken Cheesy Philly (with onion rings) and the chicken tenders (with fries). The Cheesy Philly was freshly prepared, but wasn't anything out of the ordinary with regards to flavor. The chicken tenders seemed to be of the frozen variety and the breading was very plain tasting. Both the onion rings and fries were crispy and served in huge amounts. The entire meal could be described as uninspired and average at best in taste and quality, and makes me appreciate more all the gastropubs out there that take it upon themselves to have some culinary creativity. Even though I ordinarily like to support local businesses, I didn't see any advantages over going to a typical chain restaurant other than all the televisions showing various sporting events. The service was genuinely friendly, but didn't make up for the mediocre food quality. It's decent place to grab some drinks and take in a game, but I probably wouldn't recommend Backyard Sports Bar for the food. read more

The restaurant section was good for us even with littles as the 3 year old was happy with a corn dog and fries kids meal (with drink all for $7)! I genuinely went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars with this one, after eating here two nights in a row on vacation. The goal was a sports bar with dive bar feel and food (many times the best kept secrets in our experience. Food lived up to what we were looking for (I had the cheesy Philly and he had the Cuban). Service was GREAT, even on Sunday when it was VERY busy for NFL Football. Downsides? 1: The painted bar top makes the bar top sticky and "feel/seem" dirty, even though I watched the bartender wipe it down before we sat both days. Definitely not the right material if you're trying to seem sanitary. 2: When the sun is setting, both times we came for dinner, the sun glare through the windows is literally blinding and they have no shades to lower on the windows. It seems pretty surprising since everyone around us agreed it was bad and they didn't know why they won't fix it, and the bartenders told us they would lower the shades if they had any. Note we sat on two different sides of the bar on the two nights we came and many people were uncomfortable. However food, service, and pricing was on point. My only complaints are: 1). if you're coming for dinner you should prepare to be blinded or choose somewhere you'll be able to see without a headache. Hopefully this issue is resolved since it's fairly easy to fix. 2) The second night we came we got the pretzel which came with cheese, spicy mustard, and honey mustard. The cheese was good but the mustards were refrigerator cold with our hot pretzel and the spicy one tasted like Gulden's brown mustard (not some good stone ground mustard we usually expect and love with our pretzel). A really fun place and a chill atmosphere. Sat down just as the live music was starting. Gentleman playing had a terrific voice and played tunes from Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton and a request was made by me to play some Morgan Wallen " Thought u should know" . Guy killed it. Dinner I had grilled mahi-mahi sandwich and my wife the pulled pork tacos. Appetizer was fried pickles. Had a few beers paid the tab and then stayed with friends to watch the NCAA final. The bartenders and servers were great. One of the bartenders was from Westchester county where we live in NY. We left there feeling like regulars who visit all the time. Thank you. So we were looking to watch a pre-season football game but unfortunately it wasn't on but they did have a ton of other games. We watched the Yankees and had a great time. Beers were super cold and a huge list of all kinds of beers. The one o picked was really good. On to the food. Garlic cheese curds - really good. Burgers super juicy and delicious. Boneless wings were just chicken tenders with sauce - not great. French dip was an absolute show stopper. Worth the price of admission all on its own. I'd go again and I would recommend this place. Food orders stop at 9:20 as an FYI. They also had a cool outside bar with a decent band playing music. They have a ton of dart boards too.
