John was our instructor and I couldn't have imagined an instructor any better than him! He gave us a orientation on how to throw an axe and once we got comfortable he showed us different ways to throw the axe, how to throw multiple axes at a time, and how to use his personal "mini" axes (not sure the exact terminology of them). He showed us how to play some games that are played in the axe-ing league. There's also plenty of lane space if you do a group booking. Lots of stools and tables if you bring food and drinks. Love the atmosphere/vibe and it's perfect for a fun activity that is out of the norm! Will def come again! read more

I was skeptical about how much fun you could really have and for how long you could have it at this place. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I was with a group of about 15 and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Shoutout to the axe masters there who were coaching us and showing us how not to leave with missing limbs or digits! We stayed for about two hours and were entertained with lessons, tricks and some friendly competition. Went here for a birthday celebration and had such an awesome time! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Our host was SUPER energetic and informative. She was extremely helpful when discussing form when throwing the axe and safety rules for playing the games. We had a blast and would definitely revisit this place again. The parking is limited on the weekend but there is a lot next door which you can park at as well. The ambiance in the lobby is nice and the entire venue is open so you are able to see what is happening all around you. This place is great for crowds for 10-12 people and smaller groups as well. First time coming to this place. Never knew axe throwing was a thing. I was a little nervous but we had a very skilled very funny, cool instructor who taught us quite a bit. I started off terribly and after a few games with friends by the end of it i was actually hitting the targets quite consistently. It's a very neat very cool place to meet with friends. My fiancee surprised me by having my 30th birthday party here with some of my friends and i really enjoyed myself. I even got a souvenir axe with my friend's signatures on it. Axe throwing is something i can definitely get into and i can say that BAD AXE THROWING played a huge part in introducing me to a new hobby and their inviting nature made it even more exciting and comfortable. A great night out. Had no idea what to expect for our first venture axe throwing. The space is a simple warehouse with five throwing stalls (two targets in each stall). The graffiti on the walls make it a fun atmosphere. You have a staff member paired with each stall to teach you to throw and keep you safe. We had Christian and he was a ton of fun and a really good teacher. We learned basic throwing skills and then played some games. I planned a surprise party for my husband's 30th birthday on Saturday 05/12! We had an awesome time and was something we will keep talking about for quite a while! Prior to the day of the event the customer service was great, they answered my emails quickly and were very informative! Come the day of the event, I was permitted to load in all of my food/drinks/supplies an hour ahead of the event which I really appreciated!! It definitely helped ease the anxiety of planning a 25 person event by having a little extra time to get set up. Also, the fact that you can bring your own drinks/food is amazing!!! $39 per person is a little steep but at least I can say that I was able to provide some "free" booze and food with that cost for my guests. During the event Mike and Kyle were great coaches.... they helped my guests learn how to really throw the axe and were always very patient with us! I do have a few "area's of improvement" to pass on but truly overall it was a great place for the event.... it was totally different than anything we had ever done and I think my guests really enjoyed themselves! One small but important improvement was the heat in the facility and the bathroom. It was pretty warm in the warehouse.... a few fans would really help!! Also, because it was so hot it was not helping a pretty dirty bathroom situation. It smelled like a port a potty. Again these are fairly minor and easily fixed.... I would still go back even with these little critique's! The last "area of improvement" though is the customer service. Like I said they were great to work with up to the event however when I called a few days out I asked if it was okay if some of my guests came but did not participate in the axe throwing... they said "yes as long as you have a minimum of 6 people for each lane that will meet the minimum" ....we had two lanes so that's 12 minimum people right?!.... apparently not....The event ended at 5:30 and around 4:30pm the coaches were pulling me aside asking for 21 people to pay!! I explained that I called and asked that question specifically because I had a pregnant guest and a guy with a rotator cuff surgery, so clearly they couldn't participate. For a solid 30 minutes I had to talk to the Regional sales manager Christian about this situation and explain that I wasn't paying for people that didn't participate since I was never told that information up front. Especially because Bad Axe requires you to wear closed toe shoes and of the 20 some email's I have with customer service this was never told to me. I'd say 10 of my guests couldn't participate even if they wanted too....Anyways Christian was very understanding and great to work with but we had to really strong arm the situation before he agreed we can have 12 people pay and therefore met the minimum. In the end all worked out but not a fun memory from my husbands 30th.... Sorry this is so long but think future patrons should know that A. You must wear closed toe shoes and B. make sure to tell everyone who comes they are on the hook for $39 should you plan a large event with Bad Axe. I'll be back and hope whoever reads this also visits as it's a great venue to have in ATL! read more

I usually wait to review a place till I go 2-3x, but I'm not sure when I'll be back here. Parking: I saw several spots... definitely able to handle a ton of cars. Major note: Check the online schedule DAILY for Walk Ins (if you did not make ANY reservations at all). Why? It changes. I called their HQ 2x to reconfirm certain days but they told me the calendar is changed regularly. 20 bucks per person for every hour. Not too shabby. I know some may think that's overpriced... but where the hell are you going to find a place to throw random axes at AND have several laying around?!! Also - I was starting to feel sore after throwing axes for 35 mins. This activity WILL take a lot of out of you, lol. Looks easy to do but it's kind of not. Chloe, Evan, and... another guy (forgot name, sorry!) were the main guys with us. Super cool/chill folks. As soon as you get in, you'll have to electronically sign a waiver. You can use your phones' cameras to use the QR code inside the building ... which is cool! As for trying to hit the wooden target: It's very interesting to "feel out" the axe. Once you're in the groove of it: you'll be able to get the axe to stick to the wooden target. Your instructor will help you on what to do/how to do it. MAJOR NOTE: make sure no one is behind you and make sure your partner is not going down the lane (most lanes have 2 people I think) while throwing the axe. Definitely worth taking an hour of your day to explore Bad Axe! :D read more

I first heard about Bad Axe because one of my good friends planned a birthday for her husband in the DC location so I started looking to see if there was any axe throwing in ATL. Turns out there was one here too for Bad Axe. Reserving for a group (ours was a group of 16+) online was pretty easy - they do ask to enter a credit card to reserve. Their website is also pretty thorough for those who are a little nervous or want to read up on axe throwing. David, our instructor, even called me a day before. The location is a bit off the beaten path as it's tucked away among some warehouses along Chattahoochee Ave. Plenty of parking once you get there. We had lots of fun with axe throwing. I got the axe to the target a few times. I would LOVE to go back to throw some more. It's almost like playing/throwing darts. This place is also BYOB and you can bring food too. So we had napkins, beers, and birthday donuts going. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because there are 5 stalls/alleys for axe throwing. We were at a wall were lanes 3, 4 and 5 are together. Being in lane 4, we were sandwiched between two stalls that had MUCH LESS than our group. Honestly, we just didn't have enough standing room behind the axe throwers (two can throw at a time). We asked if we could be placed on the corner since we had a few in our group who weren't throwing. We were told that others had reserved it and also because their groups were bigger than ours. This was definitely NOT the case and so, it was just uncomfortably tight to have 16 people stand in 50 sq ft space. I definitely want to come back to Bad Axe. The pricing here is much more reasonable than their other competitor Bury the Hatchet. In a group, Bad Axe was $35/person and walk-ins are slightly cheaper. Bury the Hatchet is $40/person (reserved or walk-in) AND they charge $5 for those who are just observing. Bad Axe doesn't charge you if you're not throwing at all. So count me in if you want to go throw some axes! read more

This place is awesome, you have to go check it out. It's low key simple place where you can go and take your anger out. It's so simple just you going there signing the waiver and it's 20 a piece per person and you than just throw the axe. It's awesome you can bring drinks there and you can bring food there also you get the bay for one hour but you'll be way tired in like 30 minutes. They have all different axes big to small and a wooden one which are not so easy to throw. Comparing to Bury The Hatchet. Bury the Hatchet was much more organized and the layout made it feel less cluttered, and you at least had snacks. You also have a variety of axe weights to choose from. This place is literally "bring your own EVERYTHING" and seemed a little disorganized. There is a heavy axe and one other lighter axe. That's it. The staff is very cool and friendly though. I was not there for the check in process so I cannot comment on it, but upon my arrival my group was already in their section. I will say the parking lot is very small and confusing. I ended up parking behind the facility because I couldn't find any up front and luckily I did not get towed. Our instructor Jonah was helpful and funny! He helped us with throwing technique, safety rules and even had games for us to play for friendly competition. The place is BYOB and food as well. For a place where people are throwing axes it is a pretty controlled environment. I did not feel unsafe and if you listen to the safety rules you will leave here with all your limbs. Don't expect a refund. I booked this place online for a team building event for my employees. Soon after, my company banded this type of activity as being too risky for potential injuries. I gave Bad Axe Throwing a one week notice that I would need to cancel. I had to put in this request via email, because they don't answer their phones or offer voicemail. Customer service told me that the managers at this store will not refund me my deposit or allow me to use the money towards a future walk-in. Not even a credit... What??? Went recently for my birthday and had such a great time. Our instructor Desmond was very personable with a pleasant demeanor. He was attentive to our needs and had tips/helped us whenever we needed them. I will say the payment process was a little annoying, as they used the device that hooks up to the phone. It was a very slow process and the device ended up dying so we had to wait for them to grab another one, plus it didn't seem as secure. My suggestion would be to allow us to pay with the card on file that's used for the deposit or just simply let us pay the rest online. I also suggest the option (even a requirement) to sign the waiver before your visit, as that took up time waiting for each group. Other than that, everything was well organized. read more

I didn't know this place existed until last week and honestly that's a shame because I would have been throwing my money at this place for so much longer. We got there around 7:45 p.m. on a Thursday in a group of five. We signed the online waiver and then were shown the proper way to throw an axe (both overhead and one armed) and the rules (aka pls don't throw this axe at another human and be aware of your surroundings and don't go get the axe until everyone in the lane has finished throwing). During the first few throws, our coach would step in and give us pointers or correct our form but once we got the hang of it, they let us go! I'm terrible with names and can't remember who we had, but the man with the really pretty eyes was our coach, so shout out to you pretty eyed man! I had so much fun and it was so satisfying to hear the axe thud into the wood. It's also BYOB so you can get litty while channeling your inner Jason Mamoa to try and get a bulls-eye. My boyfriend and I both bought t-shirts and want to go back ASAP. We had our team's wrap party for a project we just finished and it was great. We booked 2.5 hour session for 10 of us. Our instructor David (little Momoa) was informative and fantastic. He showed us how to do various trick throws and how to play a game called 21 which created some serious rivalry umungst us. The atmosphere is really relaxed yet safety is still their #1 priority.
