I loved it here!!!! Over 1400 acres of off roading. When you get into the park you check in at the store near the bathrooms. There you will get a flag for the vehicle and a map if needed. You can also download an to track yourself in real time in the park. So much space to explore. This was a wonderful experience and the ladies at the store/ gift shop were awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed my day here!! I have a 2021 Black Jeep Wrangler unlimited Willys edition. I paid the $25 for a day pass plus bought a flag (which is required and you can use over and over again) and tried this out for my first time. I had an amazing time!!! Took it slow at first but eventually got into some braver territory and had a great time. At first I followed other Jeeps like mine just so I knew what I could do. There are so many options on these trails. It was amazing. I highly recommend. I even camped overnight at the nearby campground which was also adequate and so close. read more

Amazing off road park. Had a blast. I did hit that tree stump though. Ow. Had a blast! One thing. There was a fire & we didn't have a signal to call. So possibly adding a designated radio channel to report emergencies could help. Unless if they already have one & we didn't know. Anyway loved everything about this place! read more

Wow I haven't been to Badlands since the pandemic and boy have they really upped their game. Streamlined check in process with multiple lanes to get you playing faster. Great store area with repair shop so you can play hard and get fixed at the end of the day. They also provide flags now at the check-In to increase safety through the course. Trails in great condition with some new obstacles scattered throughout. Lots of trails from beginner to very advanced with a wide variety of vehicles on the trails. Weekends are a little crazy but everyone was nice and and had good trail manners. read more

We came here last year with the Great American Crawl and it was a blast. The park is pretty good sized. The way it's setup I'd refer to It as a smaller Windrock. The rock quarry is the best place to hang out and wheel. There is a ton of mild trails and some good harder trails. There was a couple rock buggy lines but nothing that seemed impossible. JEEP WRANGLER: great place to take your Jeep. Pro Tip: they will charge you $25 to buy an orange safety flag when you get there. (Rip off). Soooo what you should do is go to Meijer (Walmart, etc) and buy orange duct tap ($2.99) and 2 snow reflectors ($1.99 each). Then tape the reflectors together and make a tap flag for less than $7 total. Oh, and while you're at Meijer buy a case of water as you'll need it! P.s. you can attach the safety flag a variety of ways (so long as its 2 feet above the tallest point of your car). If you have top off you can put it in one of the holes by the back door (where you normally screw in a hardtop). Otherwise you can just secure it to your back tire. Goodluck! read more

I've been here a few times in the past 10 years, most recently last weekend. Badlands is one of the best off road parks in the Midwest. They offer a great deal of variety when it comes to the trails - pea gravel (almost like sand), rock quary, a small lake, wooded areas, and a mud pit. There is also a campground right next to the entrance if you chose to stay over. There's not much to the campground, but they do have water and eletric on some of the sites. The gift shop is pretty decent as well. I usually purchase a tshirt or hoodie each time I go. After you purchase your driver/rider wristbands, you will drive past the entrance check point and there is a lady who greets you with a tremendous amount of energy. She's always smiling and her enthusiam gives you a nice jump for the rest of your day at Badlands. This park is good for jeeps and side x sides but not great for motorcycles. They are super strict with wrist bars even after you get thru the main gate. The trail markers are ok. I've been here many times in the past 4 years on my dirt bike because the riding options in Indiana are scarce. It's fun for an hour to two. read more

I will sum up the Rzr 570 rental experience in two words. Never again. I have visited the Badlands many time over the last 10 years. It's a nice place to trail ride and not get into too much trouble. I recently saw that the Badlands rents Rzr 570 side by sides. I was excited to try a Rzr as I can see owning one eventually. I called and booked a reservation and found the booking process very easy. The rental was roughly $388 after tax and fees. I was splitting the rental with a buddy to offset the costs. My buddy and I made the plan to ride the Rzr from open to close (9-7). When we arrived our driver licenses were needed as well as a credit card deposit for damages. The $1000 deposit is immediately charged upon arrival. The rental paperwork made me uneasy as I read the agreement. Here are some of the items in the agreement. *The vehicle will be brought back by ______. *I agree to bring back vehicle clean as excessive mud is considered damage. *I agree to purchase the vehicle if it is totaled. *I agree to pay the rental fees for each day the vehicle is out of service due to damage. *I will pay for any damages to the vehicle when in my possession. *The Badlands can charge the renter for damages up to 5 days after the rental. There were additional points that needed to be agreed upon but these were the highlights. My first question was what time does this need returned as there was no time filled in. I was told 4:30. Are you serious, this please closes at 7pm right? Yes but the rig will need time to be inspected. I reluctantly agreed but was very disappointed as the turn in time was 2 and a half hours before close. Next was the walk around of the Rzr for existing issues. The rig had some definite problems present. The employee mentioned the rider from the day before was charged for $800 in damages. The damages were present and had not repaired yet. The other rental rigs definitely had been damaged and look pretty rough. After getting the Rzr into the park, I have to say I was more worried about damaging the vehicle then having any fun. I did end up doing a little cosmetic damage to the Rzr and did have to pay for the damage. The employee did inform us that a customer the day before had to purchase a rental Rzr due to damages incurred. A new Rzr 570 is roughly $11,000 so that was an expensive day for somebody. Overall, I would never do it again or recommend it to anyone. Here is why: *You are literally agreeing to pay thousands of dollars if the there is a bent frame or mechanical issue with the Rzr. *The rentals are rough and do not seem to get the repairs people have paid from previous accidents. *The 4:30 check in time is ridiculous for a place that closes at 7pm. *The rental details are not on the website probably because the renter agreement is beyond ridiculous. *The rental staff are unorganized and unprofessional. *Do not come expecting not to incur damages. I have been riding atvs for years and did not expect damages. You will damage it one way or another as it is an off road experience. I will sum this experience in two words. Never again. read more

I was here with Indy Jeep Junkies and had a blast. I give it four instead of five stars because I have a safety concern. There are many places here that you can drive up a steep slope, hit the very small crest, and then go down the other side. All of these paths are one lane paths, but are not one-way. There is no way you can tell if there is another vehicle coming from the other side and you can't see them because both sides come up steep slopes. Someone can say "that's why vehicles are required to have flags on poles." The flags are not high enough and are usually mounted on the rear of the vehicle. By the time you see the other vehicle's flag, the other vehicle is already riding on your hood. No, I did not see an accident like this happen, but I was there on a slow day. I've been coming here since I was a kid and today was slightly disappointed with a lady working in the store. We asked a staff member flagging at the front if the store was still open to buy merchandise and he told us yes, we would just need to pull up a picture on the website of what we wanted and they'd get it for us. So, that's exactly what we did. The door said knock for assistance so we proceeded to knock and the lady who came to the door was not very friendly at all. She actually seemed extremely annoyed that we were bothering her and when we told her we wanted to purchase merchandise she looked at us like we were stupid and said "what do you want?" I'm very disappointed. I understand Covid-19 is stressful but we were trying to support a local small business and were even considering buying another side by side we saw on the lot. Now we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Tried to call ahead twice and make sure we could ride our quad together (we have a full size quad with an accessory back seat) and no one answered the phone. It doesn't say you can't on the website so decided to go anyway. Drove an hour and a half to get there and was turned away. So, website was not informative and no one answered the phone. Terrible. 3 hours drive time, a day we could have made it to a different park, and gas wasted. read more

They have a very good park and campground. It has been very well maintained. Only if they would mark the hills that have a drop off or very sharp downhill to it that would be nice. The motocross track is awesome. It would be great if they plowed at least once a month to smooth out the ruts. Overall this is the best place to ride around here. read more

Seems like a nice place. We were intending to stay here for work but unfortunately we had a last min change of plans and got sent to a different state the day after I secured this reservation. I'm just glad I didn't pay the full amount up front because it was pricey! They ask for everything up front then they keep it all if you have to cancel, I managed to pay partial because I couldn't see paying the full amount before our stay. No other RV park does that that I've been to. They apparently have a zero cancellation policy that is not noted anywhere and no one said anything about it when I booked the reservation. We will go out of our way to never stay here if we're ever in the area. Obviously just a money hungry business. read more

AMAZING!! Drove 4 hours to get here & it was totally worth it! The cabin's are super cute, roomy, and very close to the off road park as well as their campground! Your able to rent ATV's , UTV, Slingshot which is amazing no one around Chicago/suburbs does it! Employees are very helpful especially Dave! He made sure we left happy! The Badlands Off Road park is one of the best places in the midwest to take your ATV, UTV, Motorcycle or 4x4. It is about 800 acres and it has all types of riding. From dunes to woods to mud. In addition, it offers riding for the beginner to the advanced. The facility was clean and the staff was great. When you get there you check in at the office. It is $20 plus $5 for a passenger. (We have a RZR) Then you proceed through a check-point where they check your wristband then you continue on to the parking lot. They have two. An upper and lower. (The lower is also the main parking) You want to park in the main parking because that is where you have access to all the riding. For those interested, there is also a campground just outside the park. There is also a food stand that sells decent food at resonable prices. The paths, as mentioned, are well maintained and that is suprising considering the number of paths they have. In addition, they have a few trails that are marked, for example the "orange trail". Otherwise, there are paths all over the place in all different directions. Some paths are through trees, others along a river, or on wide areas like roads. However, most of the park is dune style. It's not sand but similiar - not sure what it is but I assume that since it was an old quarry it is some sort of mini rock. Lots-o-hills in the dunes. Some sections of the park are down in a valley where it can get muddy if that is your thing. Finally, if you have a full size 4x4 they have plenty of riding including a rock quarry area - but we didn't see it. Like I said, riding for all types. Being from Chicago, it is only about 3 hours away and worth the drive. read more

Today was our first trip to the Badlands and we had a great time! Lots of trails for a novice to spend hours on. the directional arrows throughout the area could be better. We ended up on a red trail while we thought we were on orange novice trails. The exit signs were minimal and it felt like we had been going in circles for hours trying to find the way out. Jeremy B's review from 2015 echo's the experience that a friend of mine had recently at Badlands. Their rentals are appealing for those without a OHV or 4x4, but DON"T do it. First of all, it would be VERY hard to enjoy the Badlands without dragging branches down the side of whatever vehicle you are taking out there. And that's the least possible damage imaginable. My friend got to pay $1325 for the privilege of enjoying the amenities of the Badlands in their rental Polaris RZR. Don't say you weren't warned. Now, if you have your own OHV or 4X4, it's a pretty good place to go play in the mud and test our the off-road capabilities of your vehicle. Just remember, if you drove it in the gate, you gotta drive it home. read more

Came by here with some time to kill. We were greeted by Sabrina at the registration area. She was great gave us a map and detailed areas that we should try since it was our first time. The trails were fun. It's a bit easy to get lost lol We ended up on a expert area and took us about 2 hours just to find our way back. My family are avid riders, we all ride and love mudding. We recently visited The Badlands with our oldest daughter and her boyfriend for their "after prom" trip. We had a great time the trails are well kept lots of variety my daughter likes the sand dunes my husband likes the mud and we all like to climb! The staff is always friendly and helpful. We have friends that won't ride there because of the helmet rule but Jan 1,2019 that was changed for side by sides of course those that are under 18 still must wear a helmet. We have a Can-Am Outlander XMR we have the one up factory seat they allowed us to ride because we don't have any factory stickers on the machine staying no double riders. The guy at the gate said if he sees the sticker that says no double rider they can't allow it. We stopped packing a cooler for lunch because they have a food concession available with pulled pork tenderloin cheeseburgers ext. they offer shower facilities , CLEAN restrooms, and a power wash station to clean your machines for a small fee. We ha e not stayed overnight at this property yet but will definitely look into it because the cabins look nice. We always meet new people when we go and make new friends. read more

Went there for the first time this weekend!! I am a complete novice an my boyfriend is very experienced and we both had a blast. There is something for everyone! I personally loved the mud it was awesome!! But lots of dunes in the quarry made for some fun runs. I can't believe how much fun it was an the staff was great you can tell they love their jobs. go here if you like hidden fees and paying for a security deposit you know you won't get back... $1500 just for one quad cart and we rented two... ($3000 alone for the security deposit) and if you scratch any of the door or finders they'll say they have to "replace" the whole part when really they'll just sand it down and repaint the parts you "broke"... it's all a scheme just to make more money! please don't go here and just find another off roaring park for much cheaper, it'll save you tons!!! read more

Fun for all ages. We had six boys from 10 years to 15 years old and three adults. The land had a lot a variety and you could find something for everyone. The tubes were awesome. The staff in the store were great with kids and adults. They have rules for everyone's safety but they were never jerks about anything. Overall it was a great experience. If you are camping in the campground at the gate of the park------bring shade because they don't have much there. read more

I took my boyfriend for his birthday and it was sooo much fun..what guy doesn't like to ride all different kinds of motorized vehicles?! But what was amazing is that I loved it!!! What is really nice is that your pretty much on your own so you can do what ever you want and go where ever you want and you don't have someone watching your every move.
