Grounds are very clean. Campground Hosts are quite good at making guests feel less than welcome. We are 2 highly educated professionals who had 2 highly educated and productive friends come to eat dinner one of our 3 nights here. Staff (hosts, in particular) couldn't have been much more deplorable to us about it. We understand the policy, but there's a common decency to enforcing it in one's volunteer role (wearing a DNR hat). We're not loud. We respect other people, nature, and the place. Yet, there's 40' pushers with a jeep and 2 motorcycles who apparently don't have to abide by the same rules. When our guests did leave, the hosts thanked them for leaving loudly as they drove by. The campground was more than half empty, mind you. Sadly, we will think twice about returning if there are other options. If management values people coming here to camp on their vacation time, a close inspection of customer service might be a great way to approach that goal. read more

We came to Prophetstown State Park in the hope of continuing our Battle of Tippicanoe experience. I had assumed that there would be some historical memorial to the Indian settlement that had once been here - unfortunately other than a very small recreated Indian village there was nothing. This was extremely disappointing and it certainly isn't worth the entry free to just see the three mock Indiana buildings they have here. Assuming however that you agent coming here to see Indian related memorials, then this park is very cool. There are trails to hike - a working farm to visit - playgrounds to play in. Whatever you would normally expect in a State Park. So like anything else - do your research before arriving. I unfortunately did not. read more

I saw the sign on the highway so decided to stop. Trail wasn't anything spectacular. The visitors center was small. Unless you are planning to go to aquatic center or camping, nothing much to see here. read more

One of our favorite state parks in Indiana! Kids love the aquatic center (aka mini water park) in the summer and the campground and playground areas are very nice. The trails are mostly flat and easy. There is even a working farm and historical building to check out. If paved areas are perfect to stretch your legs on or bike on. Only gripes if I had to really try hard to think of any are that the campground seems understaffed. Unlike some other state parks, you rarely see DNR driving through here. Often times the camp check in is done at the main gate as there is not enough staff to go around. The proximity to Lafayette and West Lafayette make it super convenient as well. Feel like sitting down in a restaurant and not cooking? No problem. Options galore within 10-20 mins of driving. read more

The park is amazingly clean. Facilities are too. The sites are well laid out. The hosts are pleasant and helpful. Scenery is lovely. It was September so the views were wonderful. For being next to a gravel pit, it is very quiet. Light pollution is low (but not zero). Wood is available for $6 for about 5 logs. NO KINDLING, so bring your own or be prepared to split logs. There are paved paths to walk, a small farm which is great for exposing kids who do not normally get to see farm animals. Nothing fancy, but nice. But if you are a tent camper be warned. YOU CANNOT PITCH YOUR TENT ON THE GRASS. That's right, you must pitch it on the gravel space. This means if your tent is not free standing you will have a problem. The spaces are well designed FOR TRAILERS. This means they are concrete hard and gravel covered. You will not be able to drive stakes into the pad. This also means you will be laying on gravel, so have a good pad. I was doing bikepacking so had limited gear. read more

Prophetstown SP is a simple 1 hour drive from downtown Indy. Along your route there, it's relatively flat and that's exactly how it is at the state park. The entrance into this park is very lengthy and some direction services give you the incorrect address/route, so be sure to use Google Maps to make sure you take the correct way. I've been here a couple of times now. The first time, it was flooded with runners and bikers on the road as part of an annual marathon they have. They also had a ton of community-engaged scarecrows along one of the routes towards the front of the park. It was so cute and TONS of scarecrows were there - I would highly recommend going during the fall to see them. One of the best parts of this state park is that it's right along the river. There are quite a few trails that allow you to go down to the banks of the river and watch the water flow by. Very peaceful experience. The trails towards the back of the park are filled with hikers and runners and walkers. Again, it's very flat and mostly meadow-like so don't expect lots of hills or trails rated challenging. You can combine lots of the trails togther to get a good 6+ mile hike in. It's quite spread out, too. read more

Gorgeous prairie grounds! I really enjoyed hiking here during the Fall season. There is a small nature museum/visitor's center on site. I particularly loved seeing the two original Sears catalog homes. Lots of animals here on the farm, too! read more

Not a bad campsite at location. 30 AMP and 50 AMPall sites 1/2 of the sites have full hookup. We have camped here many times and have never found a site we did not like. read more

Fantastic park. Clean, well maintained. Walking trails are amazing. Our dogs love going there for hiking. Campground is awesome as well.

Took a day to enjoy some time with family outside. First time at this park. Defiantly a mix of trails not to hard. We did trail 2 and 3. Only thing I didn't like about trail 3 was that the plants were so tall you couldn't enjoy the water when you walked by it. Not mush shade on some of the trails but all in all a good trip. read more

This park is hidden on the north side of west LAFAYETTE and never seems busy. It is a newer park and is mostly flat. Most of the park is without trees so on a sunny day bring a lot of sun screen. Great for riding bikes because not a lot of traffic and they have paved trails. The pool was nice to have their at the park and more modern than other state parks. Food took about 15 minutes at the pool in a line of about 15 people. The camp sites are all crushed gravel and most of them were filled with campers. There is on around 100 spots so you HAVE to book online because they get full in advance. One fishing pond but when we were there it had a lot of growth in it. It would be nice if they would plant more trees at this location for shade through out the park. read more

Different than most of the state parks but a great place to camp. We usually come more than once a year.

After a week on the AT, I desired an adventure but was financially stuck in Lafayette. Then I discovered Prophets Rock, and the outcropping transported me on an adventure that distanced me from the buzz of Indiana. Campground - Excellent State Park - 3rd visit now Most recent stay was June 6th 2017 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop" style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area Liked our site #210, (electric only) was in newer section of park right next to restroom albeit it had no shade trees unlike the older section that did. Modern restroom/shower building; very roomy with ample # of stalls with full tiled walls was clean and well kept. Each stall had bench in changing area and ample hooks for towels and clothes. Nice conveniences but it would have been better if there were rubber floor mats as you exit shower to keep feet off wet floor. Communal sink area had shelves for toiletries beneath each mirror but no hooks for hand towels and no paper towels for cleanup after use leaving sinks somewhat messy. Overall grounds were well cared for; grassy areas surrounded sites that were large and flat with gravel and level and good distance way from neighboring sites. Minimal vegetation between sites for privacy but time will tell. This state park gets a high rating and will return when in the area. read more

We've been here to camp a number of times. The first time was quite a few years ago when the trees were tiny tiny. Where the park lacked in interesting character or natural features it made up with a top notch kids playground and bike/walking trails. Fast forward to more recently and the installation of a water / splash park adds another great dimension. All types of fun for the whole family and for 5 dollars a person per day for the aquatic center I feel it's a great bargin! read more

We have been here a few times already and we will definitely be back! My wife and I would live here if they let us! This is the best campground we have stayed in anywhere, private or state run, in the US. Lots are spacious, shielded partially or fully from others.....you are camping instead of being stacked on top of one another. The facilities, toilets and showers, are great. The more wooded loops are the full hookups....one of the few complaints is i wish they would crank up the water pressure a bit, like to60psi. Most of us carry regulators and can crank it down...but we cannot crank it up without a booster pump. The loop with electric only is more prairie style with fewer trees, but you are next to the beautiful prairie grass. This state park is spacious, lots of hiking and biking for all levels, the water park is excellent but check to see if it will be open as it is very seasonal. There is a farm here and you can tour....lots of events there as well. OK, it isn't Yellowstone, or even Brown County (IN), but is the best you are going to find in this area. Other attractions are Wolf Park (yes, real wolves!) close by....Lafayette is close by and it is major improved compared to when I was here in late 70's...nice restaurants, casual restaurants, brew pubs, etc! Boiler up...visit the campus where the first and last men on the moon went to school....touch a real moon rock and many other events...then have a drink at Harry's Chocolate Shop....I went there maybe a few times... read more

What a cool park! We visited Historic Prophetstown http://www.prophetstown.org/ and had a blast. This is a 1920s era working farm. We met the farmer/COO and chatted for quite some time. He was very interested in what Chicago area people were looking for in a visit to this site. There is an entrance fee - $6 for Indiana residents, $8 for out of state residents - and I was happy to pay it to support the state park system. There are 8 Belgian work horses. They actually plow and harvest with the horses. There is a small heard of short horned dairy cattle and the spring hogs will arrive soon. The farm has a flock of twenty some chickens. They sell eggs, pork, lamb and beef raised on the farm. The farm is a great learning experience for kids and adults. While we were there, one of the cows was getting ready to drop a calf. I begged my husband to stop the next day to see the brand new baby but he said no. Meany. This is a great state-private partnership! read more

I love the aquatic center there. A very nice area for really small children that leads into yet a deeper area 3 ft, where you can sit on a bench in the water. That leads out to a basketball area and there's parts that's 3 or 4 foot deep. There is a lazy river and two different ways to go down it plus a huge waterslide. I bought the season pass so I would have to pay $8 each time to go in and it was $50 for the season pass. I know I have gotten my moneys worth by getting the season pass because we've been there so much. I think it's a great place to take kids and it's not very busy. read more

Love the 1920's farm. It is cool because you can walk around and explore without people telling you not to touch things or watching your every move, I actually walked around the house completely by myself. I was able to pick up antique photos albums, clothes and accessories. I strolled into the barn area and pet animals and feed them. The park is very clean and very Northern Indiana Terrain. Cool plains, wild flower fields and serene trails. A great place to go biking and hold events. The shelter areas are superbly clean and the bathrooms are the best I've ever seen in a park. The best part is the quietness and open space. You really feel like you're in the country. Tippicanoe Battlefield is only a few miles away so you can see the museum which is very informative. 2011 is the 200th Anniversary Celebration so it would be a great year to go. read more

The campground is very nice. The separation between campsites is provided by bushes and small trees. The store at the farn has a small selection of local produce, enough to make a decent meal out of. The elderberry syrup is fantastic, either by itself or on the grilled meats they sell. My only real complaint is that the soil in the campsites is too rocky and loose for pitching a non-freestanding tent. Mine was blown over by high winds during a morning storm, soaking me, my sleeping bag, and the interior of my tent. read more

This a very nicely kept state park. It is more of a prairie. There aren't hills and forest type area is very limited. It has a very nice camping area and lot of walking, jogging, biking type trails. There are water areas as well. There is a small water park that is a bit of a hidden gym since the park isn't close to Lafayette. You don't the riff raff there that you get at the Lafayette pools and parks. There is a working farm that isn't very modern that can be quite interesting. One thing is, every time I have been there I see cats and kittens running the farm and in the barn. Some of the cats have runny eyes and look sickly. There is no reason for this! I understand wanting a few cats around as it is a working farm. It's 2018, the cats should all be spayed and neutered. Instead they just let them breed and make more cars that become sick. I've also seen some of the farm animals with open sores. I question the care that the animals receive. This is a great missed opportunity to show children and adults the importance of properly caring for animals. Everything else is fine in my opinion. read more

Awesome aquatic center! Things for all ages, and a nice lazy river. Big slide for kids of all ages (haha!) and a wading area for tots. It usually isn't crazy busy, which is a major perk for me. Only thing that could be problematic is that you do have to pay the state park fee ($7) (unless you have an annual pass) and it is $5 a person entry to the pool (kids under 3 are free). read more

This review is based on one night in the campgrounds. For a total of $44 for one night (the cheaper options on the website must be seasonal?), I felt very meh. Sure there's some shrubbery blocking some sites, but most are close and highly visible. We're tent campers, and it was ok... It was certainly very clean and well groomed. The shower facilities were clean and ok. Everything was just kinda ok. read more

I hiked there for 11 miles. Trail#4 is REALLY out there and for some time thought about turning around. However I didn't. I kept from slipping and enjoyed the day. The trails are nice and it's really peaceful walking through the prairie lands. read more

This is a beautiful park! The spots are easy to get into and most offer enough privacy with trees and shrubbery. The very natural element makes this park full of critters. Just walking out of our motorhome we had a totally Snow White moment; the birds were singing, the bunnies were hopping around. The playground is big and there is plenty of things for kids to play on. We didn't stay long enough to explore the rest of the park. Now we know for next year to stay a bit so we can enjoy all this pretty park has to offer. read more

Beautiful park. It's probably the nicest state park in Indiana. However. Not recommended for adults who want to stay up. Park rangers strictly enforce quiet time. Speaking above a whisper is considered a violation of quiet hours. Water park is nice. Prob won't come back. read more
