I wanted to use the restroom and then all of a sudden 1 min of being there I get escorted to out ? I think that was unfair. We were told we couldn't take our pre-rolls with us in, so we asked if we could bring them back to the car. The door lady, a Sagittarius born on December 5th, old white lady, don't know her name but was security at the door said she had to confiscate them and not let them bring it to the car but let her know when we are leaving and she would give them back. At close we found her and she looked super surprised, told us she lost them. We got the manager and he said he told her to throw them out. We have NEVER had this issue. Then standing outside, three females after close being harassed by men outside while waiting to hear from the manager. Absolutely awful, my sister from the Bay Area was horrified. Especially how the men outside were treating us while the security and manager were trying to tell us the threw away what they said they would hold for us and not let us bring to the car. I went the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. It was not too packed the music was great and just had fun with the local LGBT company. Bar was cash only which was fine, you'd have tips for the go-go dancers that would have betters asses than myself haha. Drinks were reasonably priced, depending on what you order. They all work tirelessly to keep the drag shows especially both fun and safe for customers, staff, and performers alike. Know that the regulations this bar must follow in order to stay open apply to everyone, no exceptions. If you want to go to a drag show and think you're too cool to follow the rules and treat the staff with respect then stay home. And if you do act up and they call you out or kick you out it's absolutely in the interest of keeping everyone else, who is acting responsibly, safe. Hell yes. My first time to a gay bar was Badlands last Friday and I am sold. What made it even better was that it was 3rd Friday, meaning it time for 'Fridays Are A Drag!' yep, drag show! For a dance club/bar, this location was really active! Came here with a group of friends and we had a great time. This place was starting to get popping during the night. There was a crowd of line waiting for the entrance. Customers were very friendly. Drinks were good. Had a black superman and a few long islands here. 4 stars for the overall experience. Badlands has been my go to gay bar/club since I first started going to them. It's certainly a great place to drink with friends and dance the night away. It's a very spacious bar/club; with a second story overlooking the dance floor, and a back patio outside where people can smoke. First, it's Sacramento so except to be charged a higher cover than what you're used to in larger cities. The cover is generally $6-$8. Also, it just depends on the day you're going. Second, the drinks here are comparable to anywhere else. The average price is $8-$12 I'm guessing. Not too sure though. Just depends what you're going to be drinking as well. It's definitely a "true" gay establishment, where it's mostly gay men inside. Although the other bars in the area are "gay", they tend to have a lot more straight people. I've always had fun at badlands. Only downside is that it gets old. It's always the same old crowd. read more

The place is a cash-only business so make sure you bring plenty of bills unless you do not mind the ATM & the WD fee they charge. Drinks are reasonably priced & the dancers really deserve it all. There is an outdoor patio on the first floor and upstairs to give you space to smoke or get some fresh air. I believe the entrance fee is $7. If possible, avoid the jell-o shots at all costs. I have been coming to badlands for a couple of Wednesday's in a row now and while the bartender's are amazing the security was so disrespectful to my two black male gay friends. I am a female and was dancing with my two friends and security came and said we were "dancing too close" and that people were calling and reporting us. Security threatened my friends with mace! I am very protective of black men in this day and age and the fact that the gay-borhood should be a safe haven in the community for them and for security to literally just be looking for a fight truly breaks my heart as a queer woman of color. Women everywhere and I could smell their cheap perfume..I stated talking to this good looking guy who eventually told me he was waiting for his girlfriend half an hour into the conversation. I must of misunderstood. It's advertised as a gay men's bar but there were to many straight men and women there. I even asked the bartender if it was a gay bar. He said yes but they had a lot of straight people there that night. I was extremely disappointed in Badlands. I love this bar, the drag brunches are absolutely fantastic! I think they've done an amazing job working with all of the COVID requirements and the manager takes the safety of his customers and staff soooooo seriously. Which is probably why they haven't had a COVID outbreak there. But more than anything, I'm writing this review to praise them for the way they dealt with a bunch of angry anti-maskers at brunch yesterday, 5/2/21. The table wasn't following directions and argued every time anyone tried to bring them masks or ask them to put theirs back on. They were finally forced to pause the show and escort them out, which was really obnoxious to the rest of us. Plus they were screaming and swearing the whole way. But the staff was crazy professional about it and just moved on gracefully once the problem had been solved. Gotta love it when some Entitled Karen gets served a slice of humble pie by a Drag Queen. For a gay club, they don't play nearly as much female icons (Lady Gaga, Britney, Madonna, Rihanna, Katy Perry) as they should. I've been clubbing here ever since I turned 21 in January of this year and every single weekend they play the same songs. The playlist is always the same. Nothing new. Always spamming the same Cardi B, N.E.R.D. And Whitney Houston songs with a splash of actual gay music. A security guard screamed at me & my friend to open a gate that said "do not open alarm will sound". He was yelling so loud how he was security and we needed to let him in. Everyone standing around me said not to do it. I didn't. Someone else did, and the security guard got on me and my friends faces screaming at us that he's security and we should have opened the gate for him, and trying to show us his badge, which we could not see when he was behind a CLOSED GATE. the gate that says DO NOT OPEN ALARM WILL SOUND. So just so y'all know, the alarm won't sound, so go ahead and leave thru that gate, and let people in! And maybe Badlands should give their security guards some keys to the gate so they don't have to scream at patrons!!! I was using the bathroom down their basement. I got into the stall that no one was in and one of their employees told me one per stall, so I got out of the stall. When I got out, another person got in and the employee didn't say anything. So I felt like i was being racially profile because I saw him look at the other guy walked into the stall and he ignored it. He was an older guy kinda bold with hair on the side, he's 5'5 or 5'6.
