Great Notion and Matt's BBQ Tacos, you've pushed away customers who came ready to support your business and spend money with you. I wish you the best, but it seems you've chosen to operate not only as a restaurant and brewery, but also as a platform for political messaging. That's your right, of course, but it's a direction that may alienate customers who simply want to enjoy good food and drinks without politics being part of the experience.

This location is charming. It has the industrial decor that now feels cliché but was groundbreaking for beer and burger spots a decade ago. With a very large patio and big garage doors, it's great during summer especially. Staff is knowledgeable about their beer, patient while we deliberated, and did us a favor to help the beer travel on the plane. And this place is basically just a tent, with less of the other overhead costs of a brick & mortar. Similar story for their wine. While I'm less of a wine drinker, friends who I brought here recently were also put off by the price ($10/pour), for average house style wines. I love the food trucks in the Whale Pod but this place ain't worth it just because they slapped a French name on it.

So, while this shop is on the smaller side, if you plan a bit ahead of time it's likely they can get you the bottle you need if there is a local distributor. They have craft beer and cider too.They have a number of pre-chilled items for same night consumption. When Phish is on tour they simulcast the show and give you high quality headsets to listen as loud as you'd like. The show plays in the bar overall. But it's at a normal volume. So the headsets are VERY nice to filter out all other noise. Now the taps! Another knockout. They offer a rotating list of offerings from the best beers in a major beer city. You can't go wrong with any of them. The staff is fun, friendly and knowledgeable. My wife and I had such a good time we left with a t-shirt and beer can koozies to give friends so they don't forget to visit when they are in town. Overall loved this place and went twice while we were in town.

Now after having a couple drinks in us, we didn't feel fancy, we just needed somewhere to land. Alberta Street Pub did not disappoint. The crowd was loud. Good vibes, happy people, everyone seemed to have the same vibe. Drinks did take a while, as the bar was busy... but that's a good problem to have. The bartenders did not miss that people were lined up for drinks - they made the wait worthwhile! Strong drinks, fairly expensive, but it's a pub on a Saturday night, what do you expect? The bar was packed, too much for my deaf self to hear anyone talk, so we resorted to the patio. Was a bit disappointed at the amount of people vaping. The air was thick with smoke and you could smell the cigarettes that people were smoking just outside of the patio. Overall, it's a grungy bar to land for some decent drinks late any evening. The schnitzels were fantastic - both the brown butter and the brown gravy. Sides: Spätzle (the garlicky noodles) and the hash brown thing with the bacon. You guys, we ate EVERYTHING. We've never seen our 10 year old eat so much good food. (To be fair, the boy and I had only eaten Chex Mix that day while my wife was at the spa...but I digress.) We felt well taken care of. This was my first time visiting as an out-of-towner and I felt as welcome as visiting family for dinner. We finished the meal with the Lilikoi Cheesecake.
