Every food cart pod deserves a beer hall or pub at its core, and unfortunately, not all of them do. The Barley Pod on Halsey is blessed with the Baerlic Brewing Beer Hall, which is a decently sized indoor "picnic area", for lack of a better descriptor. With two dozen IPAs, microbrews, ciders and the like on tap, plus a healthy selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic canned beverage alternatives ready to grab and go, you're more likely to order a drink to accompany your meal here, than grabbing a soda or a water at whatever cart you patronize. While I'd prefer a cocktail over a brew, and despite my aversion to IPAs in any form, even I can find something to enjoy. Last night's beverage of choice was the 12 Bridge Ciderworks Tart Cherry, which was light and fresh, tart but not overly slow, and was a welcome companion to wash down my Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich from Flew the Coop. Very recommended! Pleasant and helpful service, plenty of seating, and a vivacious variety of libations available behind the counter, I have *Baerly* anything to complain about!

They have several tasty brews on tap, something for everyone.

Nice taproom with a fair amount of seating inside and lots of outdoor patio seating both in the front and back. There are 10 different food carts/trucks on site so between all the food options, and all their beers on tap there's something for everyone. We had just had lunch at another place and popped in to Baerlic to take refuge during a Summer rainstorm, so we didn't try the food trucks on our first visit. I look forward to trying them again sometime for a beer & some grub.

Great selection of wines, beers, and cider both to drink in-person or to take to go. All the local varieties one would expect from PDX. Staff is helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about their selection and take social distancing standards to a high level by ensuring all people have masks on except when at their tables which are all spaced out nicely. Each table is cleaned after someone leaves. Great job!

Another standout brewery in Portland, but this one with the benefit of being the epicenter of a little food cart pod in North East. The interiors are a little rough and ready, but their selection of drafts, bottles and cans is great for non-IPA drinkers. Don't worry, they have IPAs, this is the west coast, but they have a broader offering. The prices are aren't bad, pretty comparable to the rest of the city, the beers taste great and the staff knows a lot about the beers currently on offer. Pretty busy around meal times so it's sort of get-in, get-out and move on. You can order both indoor and outdoor via a window. Don't forget to bus your glasses to help out!

Beertenders were nice! Beers were just ok. Don't think I'd come back. Seriously, the beer is nothing to write home about.

The taproom is located in an industrial area and shares a space with Pizza Thief. Parking is plentiful and on the Thursday afternoon that I stopped by, the taproom was pretty empty. Happy hour is from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and you're able to get $3 off of select pints. I opted for the Northleft, a hazy IPA and for $4, it can't be beat. This particular hazy had great texture and the hops really pack a punch. If you're not familiar with Great Notion beers, they also have a bunch of delicious sours and "smoothies" that are otherwise very difficult to find from other breweries. It's a true art and only talented brew masters are able to create beers this tasty. If you have an opportunity to head towards this part of town, I highly recommend checking out Great Notion. If you're working remotely, they also have guest WiFi you can connect to to get some work done with beer in hand.

It's no secret and there's no denying why this brewery continues to bring home gold medals for their different styles. They are 100% dialed in on what it takes to make good beer. As far as the interior space, it's pretty much industrial standard. Better than a warehouse but really just a no frills space to down some delicious cold beer. If I'm being honest, I don't come here for food because they mostly have pizza I believe and for my money their are better places to grab a slice. Don't let this deter you though, I've had the pizza, it isn't bad at all just not a driver for me to visit. Grab some friends, or just yourself and try this place!

My wife and I drove over 30 minutes to visit this location because we were looking forward to enjoying good BBQ, tacos and a beer. Unfortunately, the political signage displayed throughout the windows and establishment made us feel unwelcome, so we decided not to stay. Great Notion and Matt's BBQ Tacos, you've pushed away customers who came ready to support your business and spend money with you. I wish you the best, but it seems you've chosen to operate not only as a restaurant and brewery, but also as a platform for political messaging. That's your right, of course, but it's a direction that may alienate customers who simply want to enjoy good food and drinks without politics being part of the experience.

With a very large patio and big garage doors, it's great during summer especially. Staff is knowledgeable about their beer, patient while we deliberated, and did us a favor to help the beer travel on the plane. The kitchen is now operated by Matt's BBQ Tacos (which I will review separately).

I am a big fan of the indoor/outdoor flow for the space, especially on nice weather afternoons like we have had recently. Outdoor seating is limited, so be prepared to sit inside. Interior seating is not the most comfortable, with former church bleachers that are quite bouncy or large and hard game of thrones-like high chairs. The team is super friendly and will send you to the food station or the bar depending on your needs, and, with the good quality Mexican cuisine on service, you'll want a taco or two. The brewery specializes in Hazy/IPAs, to come expecting to enjoy these PNW basics.
