I used to live around the corner from this place, and it's so fun, we still come here often. The carts are good, however, there are a few of what I would call duplicate or similar items at some places (burgers mostly) not an issue at all, but in such a small place, I was sad to see the Ramen cart go, as it really gave a little more diversity to the choices. But! Every cart is top notch, no bad choices here. Our favs are Flew the Coop and La Arepa. The service from the carts is super friendly and they are real excited to see you, no awkward looks (if you know what I mean) as you walk by, lol. Just me who's experienced that? Whatever, moving on. The pod itself is awesome, with a center brew-hall structure with indoor seating and very clean restrooms. I mean, so many beers and wine on tap. The cool part, is that they have an outdoor service window for walk ups too, always fast, and a big jar of free Milk Bones for your pups, which our special girl loves, and of course water bowls and a fresh tap. Very dog friendly here, but even if you don't have a pup, no problem, I've never seen any "bad" owners here, and even in summer, it's not dog-crazy. Just nice people sitting with their nice puppies! The one, and not even a down-side, as it's everywhere now days, but things add up quick here. Drinks we get (wine and beers), can run around 8-14$ and food from on the budget-side 10$ (single chicken sando) at Flew the Coop, a must try, to over $20 give of take with or plus tip at some places. And, these folks deserve every dollar for their hard work (beer and cart folks), again, it can add up quick! So, if you're paying for two or more, be prepared to open that wallet. read more

The Barley Pod on Halsey is blessed with the Baerlic Brewing Beer Hall, which is a decently sized indoor "picnic area", for lack of a better descriptor. With two dozen IPAs, microbrews, ciders and the like on tap, plus a healthy selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic canned beverage alternatives ready to grab and go, you're more likely to order a drink to accompany your meal here, than grabbing a soda or a water at whatever cart you patronize. While I'd prefer a cocktail over a brew, and despite my aversion to IPAs in any form, even I can find something to enjoy. Last night's beverage of choice was the 12 Bridge Ciderworks Tart Cherry, which was light and fresh, tart but not overly slow, and was a welcome companion to wash down my Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich from Flew the Coop. Nice taproom with a fair amount of seating inside and lots of outdoor patio seating both in the front and back. There are 10 different food carts/trucks on site so between all the food options, and all their beers on tap there's something for everyone. We had just had lunch at another place and popped in to Baerlic to take refuge during a Summer rainstorm, so we didn't try the food trucks on our first visit. They are open! And I feel confident enough in their cleaning and spacing that I will go there without hesitation. The tables have been spaced so that there is no way to get stranger's covid breath on you as they move by you. As soon as you get up to leave, an employee comes over to wash down the table and bench. And I mean WASH. I had to wait for the seat to dry. Masks if you are not sitting and drinking. Getting up to grab your food from a cart? Mask. Walking over to grab another beer? Mask. Another standout brewery in Portland, but this one with the benefit of being the epicenter of a little food cart pod in North East. The interiors are a little rough and ready, but their selection of drafts, bottles and cans is great for non-IPA drinkers. Don't worry, they have IPAs, this is the west coast, but they have a broader offering. The prices are aren't bad, pretty comparable to the rest of the city, the beers taste great and the staff knows a lot about the beers currently on offer. Pretty busy around meal times so it's sort of get-in, get-out and move on. You can order both indoor and outdoor via a window. Don't forget to bus your glasses to help out! read more

I was at Baerlic Brewing hall a couple weeks back, my first outing in this pandemic, hoping to bolster the local service economy. My experience was horrible and I thought I'd share it with other people. The bartender(tall-ish white woman, in her thirties) was extremely rude. I was in line and waited about 10 minutes to get 2 beers. This lady comes up and is super nice to the person before and after me, and I tip her 20%. She slams the beers on the counter, and immediately starts serving the next customer who moves ahead reasonably to place his order. I'm here scooting to get out of the way and be polite and spill some of my beer. Ugh. We followed all their rules, including asking my partner to grab an empty table after waiting around for a bit while I placed my order. She was also disengaged and discourteous to a couple other people after me, including a Mexican lady. Maybe this person has a gripe against brown people or maybe is just an asshole at random but after this experience I'm getting my beers from the grocery store lol. If you're reading this, rude lady, you should probably take a sensitivity training or something, and for sure, please quit the service industry if you can't treat human beings like human beings. What a great little spot for the Rose City Park Neighborhood, and just a short walk to the 60th St. train station. Baerlic makes good beer. If you've been to their location on SE 11th or had their beers in one of many bars across this town, you know there's good beer to be had. Pair that with one of eight food carts and you've got a food pod that's been busy since it opened a couple of weeks ago. Bing Mi, Hapa PDX, Namu and La Arepa are a few the the carts that have reputations across Portland. There's also fried chicken, Thai food, healthy vegetarian/ vegan food and burgers. Something for the whole family. There's plenty of seating indoors and covered seating outdoors. Pet friendly and several places for the bikes to be locked up. With some of the larger ( and more well known) food pods closing across the city over the past few years, these new pods that have been popping up seem like the way the future of Portland is going. Neighborhood pods with 5-10 carts and with a local brewery as the catalyst. It's a great idea and I hope they start springing up everywhere. As for Baerlic? My partner (who also reviewed and shared this experience) waited in line for about 10 min before getting service. No problem at all, especially these days. So I don't understand why, after patiently waiting, the girl at the counter treated him like absolute dogsh*t. When he came up, she was mean and hasty and rushed him through the transaction. It was as though she was bracing for a difficult encounter with him, and acting defensively preemptively. But he didn't react to this at all, and tipped well. Upsettingly, he didn't even get a chance to grab our beers before this girl was summoning up the next customer, creating an awkward situation. My partner had to rush to grab our drinks and spilled in his haste. I know that there are a lot of Karens you all have to deal with, and I applaud when boundaries are set and policies enforced, but this was simply unkind and disheartening. read more

Love the beer, great food cart selection, good service, unfortunately it's only dog friendly outside. ***The average rating is for people with non-service animals.*** It's a great place on a sunny day, not so much on a cold rainy day when you and the pup have to sit outside. They do have a tent with heaters so it wasn't bad. I just couldn't socialize because everyone was in the bar and I was the only one stuck outside. I'm not sure if the dog policy is a licensing thing or just a management thing. Either way, I **HIGHLY** recommend if you love good beer. For dog people, leave the pup at home (unless you don't mind it being just you and the dog) or go on a nice day when more people are likely to sit outside. read more

Chill spot. This is a location within a food cart pod so you grab your food and come in to have drinks. It's heated and covered completely with lots of options: beer, cider, wine, and non alcoholic drinks. Went on a Saturday evening and it wasn't too busy with a group of 4. Seating is some tall tables and loong communal picnic tables. read more

Update to the manager response- I was contacted offline through email and was essentially told that it was not their fault that the rude bartender was a b*txh and that they couldn't do anything about the bad experience I had since covid regulations. Great addition to a family neighborhood. Fantastic beer, bright and lively. Carts are still working out the kinks but overall a great first few weeks. Since Baerlic is effectively a gastropub with the carts, I would ask that they get some high chairs. There are a lot of families with young kids in the neighborhood and visiting would be a lot easier (and safer) with high chairs to keep the kids immobile and enjoying the food while parents get a much needed beer! Finally had the chance to check out this location. I already knew Baerlic makes great beer, and I wasn't disappointed. I had 4 ounce tasters of 6 beers and they were all fantastic. They seemed to have ten types of beer, a cider, coffee, and a kombucha. What I was really impressed with was how happening the food cart pod was. There are plenty of food choices and a lot of picnic tables to eat both under cover and out. The bathroom was also spacious and clean. What a great atmosphere! My husband loved the hazy and the music inside the brewery! So many choices with all the cool food trucks! We decided on the fried chicken sandwich.
