First stop in Portland, as usual is a brewery. Gotta make the most of our time and if it is closer to the airport than other locations, the brewery will always win. Ben and I both had Great Notion beers before so we were both looking forward to trying them out. There are multiple locations and the beertender at the Alberta location let us know that the other locations did carry different beers so would be worth our while to stop into the others. We love taproom exclusives and some breweries have location specific exclusives but with Great Notion it is based on sales, so one could have more than others. This location was unique as far as it is not cookie cutter and though the space was small, they do have outdoor seating areas. I love these types of locations, they give a personal feel. Great way to start out our first trip to Portland.

Beer flight-$19 for 5, 5 oz pours. Great for sharing!

Great Notion never disappoints! Being someone who enjoys more fruity beers, Great Notion is my absolute favorite brewery. Their fruited sours and smoothie sour flavors are so unique and taste incredible! I never can decide on just one and always end up getting a flight- my favorite this time was the Berry Pusher and Blueberry Cheesecake. They also have a fair amount of non fruity beers on tap (lagers, IPAs, Stouts, etc) which I've also heard great things about. Love the numerous to go can options so you can take home your favorites!

THE BIG: Great brews in the historic Alberta arts district of North Portland. Indoor and outdoor seating available. They have AC but it is very weak. Street parking is the way if you're looking for parking. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here with two friends and the wife to grab a drink before dinner. I love Great Notion due to their experimentation with smoothie sours. For drinks, the wife and I got the Beer flight and non-alcoholic kolsch. The beer flight included an hazy IPA (delicious!), a smoothie sour blueberry (super delicious), a few pilsners and a stout. The non-alcoholic kolsch was also a vibe. I feel as long as you have carbonation, it helps with the body of a beer. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, we spent around $26 for the flight and the non alcoholic beer. One of my favorite breweries around and can't wait to try more of their stuff.

Very shockingly fast service on the beer delivery once ordering at the table. Everything was delicious. I like to try everything when I'm at a new brewery so I ordered my own flight. I tried Blueberry Muffin, Jammy Pants, Journey to Nectaron, Puddletown Punch, Fresh Hop Van Beer & Concentrated Clouds. Jammy and Puddletown were my favorites. 8/2024.

Italian sandwich and the spicy pep pizza with honey and ricotta cheese. Chef's kiss!!

Food was perfect and paired well with the beer available. Ambiance was excellent, it had a fresh new look!!!! Lighting was on point. Our bartender was very knowledgeable and suggested other local breweries to try. Service was great!

Tart ales I took to go now in my fridge for the good times ahead.

Went here on a visit to the area over the holidays. First time visiting, had a couple of beers from the store. I'm not a big fan of ordering with a QR code I like interacting with a staff that's part of visiting an establishment in my opinion. The beer was great, nice to be able to try some new ones to me. Good was ordered throw another computer screen, again not my cup of tea. Ordered some chips and salsa, that took 25 minutes to get to the table. I understand that it was mildly busy but it was just chips and salsa. Seating was fine even though the group I was with definitely annoyed some must of been locals that wanted to sit at our table so they could watch tv. That's the city for you everyone thinks they are the most important. I would visit again but probably just get a couple packs to go.

I'm obsessed with Matt's BBQ tacos and this brewery is the perfect match. You grab any seat and order drinks using the QR code at your table. Service is prompt, friendly and we especially appreciated all the families that sat in the adjacent room. The bathroom had a sign to order an "angel shot" if you or a friend feel unsafe. (Pictured) I've never seen this in a bar and wish this was standard practice at all bars. The only gripe I had is the lack of flexibility from the chef at Matt's. I wanted a quesadilla (not on menu) and they told me to order a tortilla and put queso in it. With such an extensive kids menu you'd think they would have a quesadilla. Nevertheless, I ordered a bunch of tortillas to go and brought it back on my flight back home to SF.

Great Notion Brewing in Alberta is fantastic. I love having day drinks here in the summer. Their beer is tasty, which is the most important aspect of a brewery. The fruity sours and hazy IPAs stood out, and the sampler allowed me to explore different styles. On a hot summer day, their frozen drinks were incredibly refreshing. The space offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a great spot for families. It's spacious and welcoming, which adds to the overall pleasant atmosphere. One of the highlights was their collaboration with Matt's BBQ Taco. The portions were generous, and the flavors paired perfectly with the beer. My favorite taco is THE G.O.A.T.

Great selection of interesting and rotating beers. Flights of five are also available if you want to try a variety. They're currently serving food from Matt's Tacos, which is really good. Ordering is done easily via QR code. There's lots of seating inside and outside. Also kid friendly. Cans are available to go if you just want to pick something up.

All tasted 2 stouts and IPA are great to visit. Bering from PDX is no bad distance and good foods from different restaurants which tacos serves.

This was a cool little hidden brewery in Alberta. Should be talked about more on trip advisor and any travel recommendation site only heard about it through air bnb lol. Anyways beer here is solid. The Can I Get a WITness was pretty decent for a witbier. The Peach Punch IPa though is where it's at! Staff here is also pretty chill, very quick to serve drinks and just on it in general

Great patio. Cool space. I would recommend the pig tail for a crisp easy to drinking beer. If you're in Portland, you should try it.

Great Notion was a bucket list brewery visit for me and man, did it live up to the hype!! Their beers are SO good and since they have such limited distribution to Massachusetts where I live, I will admit to have paid $9 for 1 can of it! So what a dream it was to finally be there and even more of a gift to have shared it with close friends! Last weekend while travelling for a wedding, we had some time to kill in Portland before our flight, my friends and I went to Great Notion's OG location for beers and lunch! I couldn't pick just one pour so obviously I had to get a flight: * Blueberry Muffin - Fruited Sour (an absolute favorite, this is the one we see every so often in MA and I'll always buy a can even if it's $9 a pop #worthit) * Boo Berry Muffin - Fruited Sour (such a fun seasonal take on the Blueberry Muffin) * Double Strawberry Cheesecake - Fruited Sour (tasted *just* like a strawberry Cremesaver!) * Oktoberfest - Marzen (it's that time of year!) * Little Haus of Horrors - DDH DIPA (this brew was DANK!) + Matt's BBQ Tacos is located here and we were blown away! Chopped Brisket Tacos and the beef fat Waffle Fries are where it's at! We loved that they had such a large, covered outdoor space so we had a relaxing lunch before heading downtown to explore Portland!

The patty was cooked with a slight pink -- exactly how it should be -- juicy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The spring lettuce was an interesting switch from the usual, but it actually worked and gave the burger a fresh bite. It's a solid-sized burger too, definitely filling. Only minor thing was some of the cheese slid off, but nothing that took away from it overall. I also tried the Caesar salad. It didn't come with croutons (not sure if that's intentional), and while the dressing was evenly coated, the Parmesan was a bit heavy and ended up overpowering the rest. Not bad, just not as balanced as it could be. What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. It's put together in a way that makes you forget you're even in the city -- relaxed, comfortable, and easy to settle into. Service was easily a 10/10. Attentive without being overbearing, respectful, and genuinely friendly -- the kind of staff that makes the experience better without trying too hard. Overall, a really solid spot. Great rooftop vibe and a fun place to hang out for an afternoon. We ordered a beer flight, and as someone who's had quite a few brewery flights and is pretty open-minded when it comes to beer, this one unfortunately missed the mark for me. Out of the 10 beers, only about 3 were somewhat enjoyable and around 4 were honestly undrinkable. Thankfully, the food redeemed things a bit. We got the pizza with artichoke hearts, mozzarella, ricotta, garlic, and basil. It was super flavorful and the dough was delicious, especially the crust. We also tried the catfish po' boy. It was a little salty, but the fish itself was cooked really well and the sauce was tasty. The spring mix salad with cranberries, slivered almonds, and feta was good too, though I personally would've liked a better toppings-to-lettuce ratio. Overall, I'd come back for the rooftop and food, but probably know to expect mediocre brews.

Simple with pepitas, kale and raddicio. Cheese and dressing. Their beers are some of my favorite from a local brewery. Their Cloud Mentality is a good choice for IPAs. The line gets long for the bar and there's no way to close your tab if you leave it open unless you're willing to wait in the line again to pay. The fantasy and the Dungeons & Dragons themes are really fun and totally calls to me. So therefore with our first experience here I stocked up on a lot of swag- shirts! My first beer with this brewery was a Red Ale or Amber Ale, The Lady of Embers. This was a very enjoyable first time beer with this brewery. Flavor features in this beer are Caramel, a roastiness, maltiness, biscuity and a dry finish. It proved to be a fun beer to try out for the first time and we were eager to come back and try more of their beers. A bit of time passed and we were able to do that. This time we got three different beers of different types to give us a well rounded experience with their beers. Cascade Falls was the first beer on the second experience that we delved into. This beer is a Cream Ale and I haven't had one in a while so I was quite eager to get a hold of another one again. This particular Cream Ale had peaches and vanilla as the primary flavors and they were pretty good. It was sweet but not heavy handed which made this beer pleasant. This beer was a collaboration beer with another brewery, Thunder Island Brewing Company. After that I moved into dark beer territory and got a stout by the name of The Ashbringer. This one I rated very highly on Untappd because I enjoyed the flavor profile so very much! This stout has flavor highlights of roastiness, a spiced presence, coffee, chocolate and some clove. It was a really well made stout...well balanced and one I really got into. I believe actually this was my favorite beer out of the several I have tried. The last beer was a Marzen beer, a type that isn't too terribly common but always a good one when I can get a hold of it. The name of this beer was the Hasta La Raiz. This is a nice light bodied beer that has maltiness, roastiness, some fruitiness and a bit of a floral presence. It was a fun one to try out for sure. TPK Brewing also serves food and it's quite good! We grazed off of several different appetizers here that we really enjoyed. The first one was the Yuca Frita which was Yucca cut into big, thick French Fries sort cuts and we dipped it into a green sauce as well as a pico de gallo type of dip which enhanced the experience. In addition to that we got a beef empanada that Steve and I split along with the same sauces...also excellent and then to round out our snacking here we got the Arepitas De Queso which is a white masa cake mixed with cheese and then deep fried. It also had the same sauces as the previous two appetizers but we were fine with that... we were all about it and deep into it. Steve and loved this place and would be thrilled to come back to enjoy more of their food and beers !
