I love the bagel beanery and have been going there for two years now for both bagels and coffee. At first it was great! Always got the right stuff and the quality was good too. Unfortunately, for the past half a year or so almost every time I've gone something has been wrong or forgot on our order. As someone who works at a very busy coffee shop I understand demand has increased recently and the shops are much busier than normal but it is just very disappointing because I do enjoy this business very much when it is correct. So for anyone curious, the bagel beanery is very delicious but if you are a person with a dairy allergy, someone who is picky about getting what you order, or if you make any modifications (even smaller ones) to your food or drinks just be aware you maybe end up not receiving the right thing, even if they repeat it at the speaker. read more

The food is super good but every time I come here something in my order gets messed up. I ask for an egg and cheese bagel and sausage gets put on it, or I ask for no onions on my sandwich and I find onions. One time they gave me an entirely different bagel and cream cheese from what I ordered. I'm from the east side of the state and I was craving a good bagel sandwich for breakfast. I was for the most part not disappointed. The bagels was soft and flavorful, but it was not toasted. It almost tasted like it was steamed, which was different but not bad. I had the Santa Fe which comes with some veggies and chorizo on it. We don't have a bagel place anywhere near where we live. I looked on Yelp and found this place. The business was clean and the employee was polite and helpful. I didnt think a dozen of bagels would be cheaper than a dozen doughnuts but it was and it was a bakers dozen at that. Only downside for me was it was downtown and traffic was heavy. He said always to start with an asiago bagel and add from there. He suggested a club breakfast bagel: egg, bacon, ham and cheese. It was OK but basically tasted like a bacon, egg and cheese McMuffin. Long live gluten! Bagel beanery is the bees knees. They have great coffee (I get the two shots in the dark, because I'm wild like that). They also have great bagels, so the name rings true. You can buy 6 bagels (to take home you glutton) for $6, which is a real steal given how good their bagels. They are on H&H level, seriously. They've got a nice selection of cream cheeses also. The cheddar bagel with fiesta cream cheese is a lifestyle, try it, and order me one. But do not... And I repeat do not... Try to fit a large vehicle through the drive through... You'll be recreating that one scene in the Titanic (where it hits the ice berg). Skip the drive through anyways you slacker, walk in and smell all the bagels and coffee. Let me start off by saying I am basing my review really on one sandwich. It is a ridiculously basic sandwich but I love it & get it every time I go here. Bagel, egg, cheddar cheese. Nummers. Today I decided to try it with bacon. I tend to eat fake bacon only because the fatty part of bacon grosses me out but it turned out just fine today. The bacon was good & crispy. Their sandwiches are delicious and fresh! Their breakfast sandwiches are very cheap (and filling compared to fast food), and their lunch sandwiches are a little more (more than $5). They even give me a discount because I order the vegetarian bagelwich without cheese and cream cheese. My favorite bagels are the asiago and the cinnamon crunch, but they are literally all delicious. I've only tried one of their drinks, the chai latte with almond milk. (It's the best I've been able to find since Red Ball Jet closed.) It's always satisfying! Once, the barista accidentally used milk-milk, and she realized her mistake and brought me a new beverage and let my fiance finish off the first one. They have 3-4 different brews going every day-- usually a light and a dark roast and then different roating flavored coffees. The veggie cream cheese at this place is what keeps me coming back. Very disappointed. We had a $25 gift certificate and while we were ordering the cashier seemed to indicate that we could save some of the certificate for later, so we only ordered $15 worth of food. When our transaction ended we didn't receive our certificate back or anything that showed we still had $10 left. We then asked again if we would get it back to later spend the remaining balance, and the cashier said no. We asked if we could then spend the remaining $10 right then, rather then let it go to waste. They said no. A decent place to chill. They have wifi, outlets to use, and it's well lit during the day. I've never been there after dark though. I like their bagels and bagel sandwiches. Service is good. I am here to review the new coffee item, the Cafe Milano. Being a regular customer of Bagel Beanery, I was stuck in the loop of getting the same items day in and day out until one fateful day. I saw the new Cafe Milano on the menu and thought why not give it a try. Little did I know I would be forever a changed man. The Cafe Milano graced my lips and I was INSTANTYLY transported to FLAVORTOWN. The Cafe Milano is slap certified, every time I walk into Bagel Beanery now it's SLAP right back to flavortown and I can't escape the dream that is THE CAFE MILANO. 10/10 would recommend. read more

The California Beach Club is my favorite! My fiance loves the asiago roast beef. The bagel chips are amazing too. The food has always been delicious and fresh every time I come in. My only gripe would be the price. A sandwich, bagel chips and a drink usually run about 9 dollars total, so for my fiance and I to eat it is almost 20 dollars. That is why Bagel Beanery is a 'once in a while' place for us, unfortunately. There was one instance where I ordered two asiago roast beefs and one cali beach club, and because I was running late, by the time I got to where I needed to go, I realized they gave me 3 totally different sandwiches. Pros: Excellent bagels with house made cream cheese! They have decent coffee. Sometimes they have a $2 iced latte deal in the summer. Cons: The bagel sandwiches are overpriced. Don't waste your time on the terrible macaroni and cheese. The drive thru is tight and very hard to navigate. The parking lot always feels congested. This place is near my doctor's office, so I've gone a couple times now. The first time it was nearing lunch so I got the bacon turkey Baja sandwich and it was pretty great. I was pleasantly surprised to see I got a pickle and chips with it. I didn't notice that mentioned on the menu, but to be fair I was still recovering from the death-defying drive thru when I ordered. The next time, I ordered the breakfast stack on an Asiago bagel. This was just ok...the meats and egg were a little floppy and blah. The bagel was good, but oddly not toasted? Not the best breakfast bagel I've had, that's for sure. Coffee was just eh...I'd never risk my rims or paint job to stop by for it again. Not sure how much time you've been in the area but I could see them being quite different that what you may be accustomed to. We have been voted "best bagels" in Grand Rapids for many years in two different publications, but I agree with you that they would not be considered a crunchy, very chewy bagel. As far as Magnum coffee, they are a local roaster with a fair amount of name recognition in the area, located in Nunica, near Grand Haven and deal only with the highest grade (Specialty) beans available. I'd love to know what you found lacking in the coffee, as we rotate through so many different custom roasts and blends with significantly different profiles.
