Ordered 2 bagels, and was asked to pull ahead so I did. I have been asked to pull ahead before so I pulled into the same area I did before. Waited a half hour and no one ever brought my food out. Went inside and they said they thought I had left?? I was especially frustrated with the guy who took my order and saw my car and still somehow thought I had left when my car was exactly in their line of sight???? The 1st thing I noticed when I walked in was a young man with longer hair. His hair was not pulled back and he did not have a hat or hair net on. Went to Bagel Boy for lunch after Church. Everyone else must have had the same idea, because the line was to the door. We didn't have to wait to long since they were staffed to handle it. As we looked for a table to sit at, the open tables we found were dirty. This would have been a 5 star review had we found a clean table. I like how they take your name when you order, then they will call out your name when your food is ready. The food was great! 4 of us were all happy with our food. And it can be tough to make an 8 and 13 year old happy at a restaurant. This was an overall great lunch experience, as it is each time we go! On a recent Sunday morning I, along with two other people were at this Bagel Boy location. There weren't many people in the place. We didn't step up to the counter right away. We were trying to decide what we wanted. We stepped up and not one person acknowledged us. Everyone was working, with their heads down, my friend cleared her throat, nothing. Finally my friend said we wanted to order. One of the workers finally acknowledged her. She ordered, the next person ordered, and off to work the person went. She completely ignored me. I stood there a little dumbfounded. No one else stepped up to take my order. I had to ask to have order taken, not once but TWICE. To top it off, she acted annoyed that I wanted to order. No apologies. I do have to say I like their bagels. But service is HORRIBLE! Based on this, this is why I am only giving one star. read more

We love to stop at the bagel boy and almost always order a Karen Special on an everything bagel. The Karen Special is peanut butter bacon and pickles and sounds less than spectacular. Salmon bagel was very good but I was a little bit shock by the bagel size. It was smaller than expected... other than that great place!

I want to have this place suceed but they keep on missing the mark. How difficult is it to make a smoked salmon with cream cheese? There is no consistancy with orders and those who prepare them. I have found some of the sandwich bagels to be overflowing with 'fixings' while others in the same bag have scraps. It's as if they forgot to bake the bagels. I ordered 2 sesame, 1 everything and 1 garlic. My first clue should have been that they were all very anemic looking--no brown, crispy crust on the outside-- but I hadn't had a bagel in awhile so was looking forward to a good bagel. We decided to go here at about one pm on a Sunday, friend is a fan of the bagel sandwiches. We arrive and no one says anything to us at first. We look over the menu for about five minutes before being stepping further down the line at the counter while were finally asked if we've been helped, so no real greeting. We ordered two breakfast bagel sandwiches to go, waited for about 5 minutes. Took the bagels home and discovered we didn't get any eggs on either of them. Tried to call the store to try to figure out what happened, twice, no one answered either time? Ate some sub-par egg-less breakfast bagels and didn't quite feel satisfied afterward. I've been having breakfast and lunch at Bagel Boy on 26th Street for over 10 years and my latest trip there was just as great as always. I came in with a friend for 5 different sandwiches to go. The setup is unique. The staff was extremely helpful with it being my first time there. All the staff was really nice. They made a unique coffee for my husband and it was really good! I typically go through the drive up in the morning and while I understand they don't have a speaker the service is always slow and typically people are rude. This morning I went and my coffee was this flimsy cup (something was obviously wrong with it so why would they use it???) and the lid wasn't on so I got half of it all over myself and the interior of my car. I distinctly heard the girl at the window say you didn't get the lid on AGAIN, so it's happened more than once this morning and can personally say, it's happened to me before at least twice. This really shouldn't have surprised me. I decided to give Bagel Boy another chance because I really do (or did) enjoy their bagels. This morning I showed up around 7am and got my bagel. Everything was made and I paid for my bagel with my credit card. The lady asked if I would like a receipt. I said yes of course and stuck it directly in my pocket. The bagel tasted old and stale. Nothing fresh like they use to make. Later that day at work I reached into my pocket and found the receipt. Little did I know they over charged me by two dollars. Frustrated I called to complain about the service and to get my money back. The lady told me that it would take 5 to 7 business days to get the two dollars back on my credit card. They said they would make it up to me by giving me a free bagel. How is it free if they already have my two dollars? Please think twice before eating or purchasing anything from this place. One day and another phone call the manager did give me a 10 dollar gift card. Makes me feel a bit better. read more

As a native of NYC I'm not embarrassed to say I'm a bagel snob. So, take that into account when considering my 4-star rating. I've lived in the Midwest for over 20 years now and am constantly looking for something that closely resembles a true NY bagel. Before visiting Sioux Falls, I hadn't found it. Bagel Boy has nailed it though! The crust is right, the inside is right, and the seasonings are spot on and plentiful. Why not 5 stars? Well, they're just a little bit smaller than they should be to be a perfect New York bagel. If they aren't being held up against that standard though, these are 5 star all the way.
