The food at nearly every OPH is always great. I appreciate that they offer the ability to add your name to the waitlist without calling or being there in person. When we added our name to the waitlist at 9:00 AM on a Saturday for a party of four, our wait time was around 75 minutes. When we got there, we were seated promptly. However, our waitstaff didn't come to take our order promptly. We waited around 10+ minutes to put our order in. While they have the Toast app and devices, we weren't able to pay using Toast (with the QR code from the table). Ambiance: This place is huge. The seating is comfortable and the decor isn't tacky or kitschy. Food: My friend ordered the Swedish pancakes and thick-sliced bacon and had enough leftover to take home for the next day. My husband had the corned beef hash and was happy with his order. I had the Irish benedict which was a nice change from your typical benedict. While they advertise that the corned beef hash is homemade, it's not what I had expected. It seemed similar to others I've had that was served out of a can. Usually when it's homemade the corned beef and potato pieces are larger, but this seemed like canned hash you could buy at the store. Nonetheless, it was still really good. The coffee wasn't super strong, but wasn't "church coffee" either. Noise Level: For as busy as it was, I didn't find the restaurant to be so noisy that we couldn't hear each other talk. My family and I took a weekend in Sioux Falls, SD for change of scenery. Our Sunday breakfast stop was The Original Pancake House. GOOD call! First, though they were slammed with business, we were seated very quickly. They told us half an hour, and we were at our table within 10 minutes. Our server was very pleasant, and cheerful. We had waters and coffee within a couple of minutes. For breakfast I had the Three Little Pigs in a blanket. I also ordered two eggs scrambled on the side. My pancakes were delicious wrapped around three plump, beautifully seasoned breakfast sausages. Real maple syrup was a bonus. My eggs were as good as I've ever had in a little restaurant. Light and buttery, and clearly prepared with care. My wife had the crepes with blueberries and lemon curd & mascarpone filling. They were great! My son had the Jr. Plate, 3 pancakes with thick-sliced bacon. The bacon was so good he was compelled to ask his mom and I to try it. It was great! He had strawberries and cream as an add-on. First, I'm glad we discovered this place the day before we left town... because if we'd found it sooner I'd have eaten there every day and gained about 500lbs from all the amazing yumminess to be had. We ordered a simple breakfast, at breakfast time. Sunday morning, we were a little grossed out by the amount of water on our plates. It looked like they washed our eggs after they scrambled them. I had bacon and they overcooked the heck out of it, It probably was intended to be crumbled on a salad. My kids ordered sausage links. We didn't finish our meal. Restaurant is large and bright with lots of room but definitely filled up quickly on the weekend. Egg dishes come in 2,3,5 egg sizes depending on what you order. I ordered the Jan scram and the bacon it came with was thick cut and not dried out. In fact, the scrambled wasn't dry like most scrambled egg dishes and I really liked that. Spouse had one of their soufflé omelettes (five eggs!) and even though menu said it would take longer to make it really didn't. Pancakes were thin (love that) and of reasonable size. The peaches and cream pancakes came with a giant dollop of cream that was close to the size of a baseball! You get three pancakes and it was hard to stop eating them after the large egg dishes. We had a breakfast feast today at The Original House of Pancakes. Excellent food and excellent service provided by our waitress, Shanna. Thank you! The breakfast spread pic was comprised of: Dutch baby, Swedish pancakes (top of pic) , side of sausage patties, and the condiments plate ( 2 maple syrups, 2 dishes of lingonberry, 2 butters, and one highly addictive container of whip cream) I had the Dutch baby and I had to add a side of lingonberry to put on the Dutch baby. It was very good. It came with a side of their home made whip cream they make every morning. WOW! This beats Starbucks whip cream hands down. The whip cream is a must try! Put it in your coffee even. Damn, this whip cream would be perfect if they had some Irish whiskey available to make an Irish coffee. Hey, I am on to something here! I hope management is listening!!! If not, I might sneak in a flask of Irish whiskey next time. Sorry. My daughter had the Swedish pancakes. Wow, they were paper thin like they are suppose to be! Great good. Large portions and prices are reasonable for the amount of food and quality of it. The only complaint I have is the miscalculation of the waiting time until seated. We put our name in online and it gave us a 20 minute wait estimate. When we got to the restaurant, there was a crowd outside the door, and when we went inside and checked in, they told us it would be at least 20 minutes. Twenty minutes went by and then 30...we saw all kinds of groups of people coming in after us, who were getting seated and receiving their food already. Finally, about an hour after we had submitted our name, we were seated. We had a terrific waitress and overall it was a good experience, we were just at the point of being "hangry" so the time we waited was irritating at the moment. FYI: We ordered breakfast food for takeout, so really can't speak to the dine-in experience, although my boyfriend did mention the restaurant had a quaint vibe to it and that he liked the decor. I wasn't really impressed with the quality of the food given the cost. We ordered: 1 stuffed hash browns and eggs, 1 apple pancake, and 1 coffee. The total came out to $30 and change. The stuffed hash browns and eggs were probably the most disappointing. This item cost about $13 and they couldn't even accommodate tossing the items together versus just layering them. Why did I pay so much for something that would have cost 60% less at a Waffle House?? Also, they definitely didn't use salt nor pepper--the blandness of it really stood out. I will say that the eggs were nice and fluffy; however that still doesn't make up for the lack of flavor and the overpriced layering of cheap breakfast items. The toast that came as a side item was your standard toast, nothing noteworthy here. The Apple pancake was pretty delicious although it was still pricey at $12.49. My boyfriend had ordered this item. I think we were about 10-15 minutes late picking up our order though and the apples were still piping hot. Which leads me to think the order probably just came out when we had arrived. Nothing too big of a deal, but something to be mindful of if you are in a hurry and expect food to be done when stated as such. Coffee was $2.99 which is pretty standard pricing. In summary, the quality of the food was suitable to a small-town truck stop but with the pricing of a big city staple. Probably won't be ordering food or dining here again as I can't justify the cost. (Don't get me wrong, service and feel of a restaurant are also important, but not at such a steep cost in dollars and food.) read more

This is a very cozy breakfast place and everything I've tried here has decent quality. This place has excellent and prompt service. The bacon here is generously thick and taste great! The pancakes which come as a fluffy side are excellent and the syrup has a flavorful that has a hint of rum taste to it (yum!) The coffee is average. Could be better but it works and they keep pouring. If you are hungrier than normal, try the eggs, biscuits and gravy. Super delish here. When in Sioux Falls, you can't go wrong eating here. Service was prompt and friendly. The menu options were all looking tasty and from the Yelp photss portions were larger than average, which at this time I was famished.
