When you heard that someone has brough the legit tradition of Montreal style bagels into your local Toronto neighbourhood, you just have to make a little trip to satisfy the curiosity. We took a little walk to Greektown where this location has popped up and we were not disappointed with the promise of Montreal style bagels. The front of shop is small and functional. You come in, put in your order, pay, and then leave with goodies in tow. Behind the counter there are staff making those delicious round tubes of bread constantly. We looked at the menu and decided on the lox and cream cheese bagel. One was on a pumpernickel bagel while the other was the garlic variety. We also picked up a half dozen day old bagels because you never leave a good bagel behind! They were just as good as the made fresh ones after a quick blast of heat from the toaster oven. It helped that we also picked up some of their garlic cream cheese to spread on top. As for the lxo and cream cheese bagels, we carried them to a nearby park bench and dove into them. What more is there to say then that they are delicious. The soft and chewy bagel with the smokey salmon, velvety cream cheese, and salty capers all melted together into this nostalgic feeling that you may have only gotten in Montreal standing in front of a St. Viateur bagel shop. Bagel Time is a tiny bagel shop on Danforth. Freshly baked bagels are available every morning. I stopped by for their gluten free seasme seed bagel ($2). It was warm as it was just fresh out of the oven. Props for Bagel Time for making a gluten free bagel tastes normal. My only issue is that there is a very strong baking soda/powder flavour. Hopefully they will adjust the recipe a little in the future! read more

We ordered a roast beef with garlic bagel and it came with sesame bagel. Also ordered a Chicken salad on everything bagel ended up as tuna salad with garlic bagel. We also ordered two Caramel Americanos that are also ended wrong, as cappuccinos. I don't know what else to say..... if anyone is going to order here, be prepare to be surprised! read more

Ordered the large Bagel Cream Cheese platter for our son's birthday party in the park. Used the contact form on the website to avoid email going to spam. After a back and forth with a manager we finally secured the details. There were concerns after I addressed the email to Bagel Time Danforth and their first response was "which location". I mentioned the full date and time I needed the order twice and the last email stated "Will pay upon arrival Saturday." I arrive at the Danforth location just after 0830 on the requested Saturday and the staff did not have the order ready. Why? They showed me the blank receipt slip torn out of the register and a handwritten note in thick Sharpie with our order and in big letters on the bottom: "Sunday". Oy vey! The staff were understanding and offered to prepare the order, including my requested to have plain and whole wheat bagels separated from the rest and labelled for our allergen guests and asked for 45 minutes to get it prepared. They were great! They prepped them all, sliced, cream cheesed, and cut in half and all wrapped individually for easier and safer sharing. Kudos to the two staffers for getting it done. They did not deserve the rushing stress that management put them in. The third employee was a baker working the oven. He did not wear a mask, despite safety regulations. I addressed this and the messed up date with the manager in a follow up e-mail and the mask is apparently justified as Public Health mentioned an exemption due to the nature of working close to a 650 degree oven provided there is "social distancing". There wasn't. It's small shop, and should that baker have come to work sick they could be breathing all over people's bagels. I give 5 stars to the staff for making it work after the manager's mistake, deduct one for the manager's mistake, and another because I know times are tough but your website could used a little TLC and updating for 2021. Yes, you're on Ritual but without having your catering there didn't help. The bagels are good and the staff try hard so I will continue my patronage, just please do better. PS. bring back the Rainbow Bagel. It's a small but important market for kids and What A Bagel has them. You can charge extra for it as parents will pay for the treat. read more

Great bagels. I come here regularly. But they're often sold out of some, eg. my favourite, cinnamon and raisin. And their customer service could improve. I've found it hard to fit six bagels into a freezer bag. I have bought 12 bagels many times and asked for 3 freezer bags and they've said "yes no problem" but they've never actually given me 3. read more

As far as I know, this is the only proper bagel shop on the Danforth. If I'm at a Timmie's drive-thru I might grab a toasted bagel with cream cheese but I know it's not the real deal. At Bagel Time you can see them hand making and baking the little beauties right before your eyes. I typically visit on Saturday mornings and get a couple smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel sandwiches with a half dozen bagels to go. The bagel itself has just the right crunch after toasting and is nice and chewy on the inside. I freeze the 1/2 dozen and thaw out individually otherwise they will go stale quickly. I bought a tub of cream cheese that has lasted 18 bagels so even though it seemed pricey when I bought it, it was good value. The cream cheese, whipped and airy, is much better than the typical grocery-store type. read more

Ordered a toasted pumpernickel bagel with smoked salmon spread. The bagel was barely toasted and the cream cheese was off, as if it had been sitting out for a few days. It was so inedible, I almost threw up at the table. I returned it to the cash and they made some excuse about the weather (???), then offered me a new one. Thanks but no thanks. In the end, they gave me a new bagel with butter, which I ate. When I went to throw out my garbage, the trash was swarmed with fruit flies. Definitely won't be returning here ever again. Bagels are pretty good but my wife recently ordered bagels with lox. Etc from here through Uber eats and neither of the bagels had lox and other toppings were mixed up or missing. My wife and her friend were hungry and we had lox in the fridge so they ate it as is. But if you pay to get lox you should receive lox. Don't know when the next time I go back here will be now. I would stick to ordering bagels here and nothing else. read more

We were searching for Montreal Bagels and this was the only spot at night that we could find that was open. All I have to say about that is that, it was ok. The one I had for breakfast earlier in the day tasted way better. Its a cool spot, located in Greek Town. Stumbled upon this place and wanted a Montreal style bagel. I got the everything bagel and plain Cream cheese to go. Had it for an evening snack the same day and it did not disappoint. Very much like a Montreal type of bagel. Had a smoked salmon on an everything bagel and an Americano. Sandwich was very yummy. My Americano was missing that nice creamy flavour so that was annoying but oh well. My bagel was taken directly from the fresh batch from the oven so it was warm and delicious! Ordered through Skip the Dishes. Order came completely wrong and took an hour (for bagels). I'm not sure how much the restaurant controls the time waited, so that may not have been them, but they did mix up the orders. Called the store and the Manager offered to fix by remaking and delivering themselves. That was amazing customer service, and why they get a 3/5 instead of a 1/5. A Bloor West location has just recently opened and the bagels are fantastic! These are truly authentic Montreal style bagles with perfect flavour and texture, hand rolled, and baked in a wood-fired oven which you can see from the ordering counter. These are exactly like bagels you would get in Montreal. A great selection of bagels. This type of bakery was missing in the west end. I went to Bagel Time on the suggestion of a neighbour after telling her about a recent trip to Montreal. The shop wasn't too far away so I decided to check it out on a Sunday morning. Bagel Time uses real wood fire ovens so that was a good sign - they also have several varieties of bagel flavours and a gluten-free option (which I did not try). I got a sesame bagel toasted with butter and while it was heavy on the butter, I thought it was still good. It had a touch of sweetness, the texture was soft and chewy but we thought they could have been a little more dense. It is hard to replicate the actual bagels you'd get in Montreal but these are worth a try if you're in the area. read more

Perhaps it was the nature of the evening hour visit that made for the disappointing experience at Bagel Time. The three bagels I bought were nothing like any of the numerous bagels I have purchased from Fairmount or St. Viateur in Montreal. The three sesame bagels looked like they had hardly any time in a baking oven, they were so pale. The dough was not fully cooked on the inside. Plus the customer service was poor - I do not particularly enjoy getting hit on while buying bagels. Definetly not what I expected, I usually go to The Bagel House, but since I was in the area I decided to try this place. I had a Sesame Bagel with Herb and Garlic cream cheese and my mother had a gluten free bagel with the same cream cheese. I found it perplexing that even though they were making fresh bagels they still opted to give me an old bagel sitting in the showcase; I didn't feel like commenting on that and just left it at that. My bagel did taste old and nothing special. Another Yelper did say the male staff will try to rip you off, and I found that to be true. I paid $12 for two bagels and two coffees, something seems a little off at that price. Waiting in line to buy a bagel. I overhear the guy in front of me say something about pigeons. Cashier has a casual reply, saying "something something always here". He gives her a look. Pretty weird. My turn to order. I order an everything bagel with cream cheese. Cashier asks "What kind?" and directs me to the side counter with the cream cheese. I come around the corner and see three pigeons. Now I'm not really sure how to deal with this situation. I already got this bagel on the go, but I'm not really into the idea of these pigeons walking around the restaurant. It's not like they just came in the open window near the street. They're in back, near the prep area. They're comfortable. Guarding this cream cheese. I go on with my order and ask for some dill. These sleeper agent pigeons hear the code word and take off, flying between me and the cashier. The cashier, is surprised by the pigeons, but then goes on like nothing happens and asks me again. As if she didn't see this Hitchcock event just happen between us. I pay for this bagel and leave. Now, I wrote this yelp novella with a bit of comedy, but it remains a work of non-fiction. This is an excellent place in Toronto to grab bagels - it has become my new go-to! The bagels are dense, but chewy as they should be. They are also just the right size to fill you up! The bagels toast up quite nicely and pair up really well with their in-house cream cheese. Service is typically very quick and friendly. I don't understand the raving reviews. These are NOTHING like Montreal-style bagels. In fact, they are actually horrible for just plain bagels! I am not sure if they forgot to salt the dough the one time we went, but our bagels were flavourless and the texture wasn't appealing. A little salt goes a long way when it comes to baking (or cooking, for that matter)!
