We visited this quaint brunch place on recommendation from a friend/local. We all agreed that this was one of the best brunches we've had so far on vacation. We loved that we could each pick and try a variety of dishes based on our respective preferences. Recommend getting reservations if possible..However, we were lucky to be seated immediately on Easter Sunday.
This was our first meal and we walked out mind blown by the quality of food, the hygge moments and the excellent service we had experienced. The dining experiences we had in the Danish capital were so impressive that I feel compelled to establish a new rating standard here. Absolutely delicious open sandwiches with piles of filling on traditional rye bread, maybe a bit on the smaller side than what you would usually expect but was a perfect portion for me where I didn't walk out feeling stuffed. This is a great place to try the famous Danish smorrebrod. Their burger was just as delicious and presentation lovely. Their cappuccino was the best I had on the two week trip in Europe, they use local Copenhagen Coffee Lab beans which is also available for purchase here. They had candles and fresh flowers on every table, mint and cucumber water instead of regular tap water. The place itself is elegantly designed with soft lighting yet felt casual. Music even in the restrooms but wasn't overpowering. Service isn't rushed, you take as much time as you need at your table for the little joys of eating a meal. I sure learned a thing or two from the Danes.

The breakfast platter is an excellent deal. 3 choices for $16. My favorites was the eggs with mushroom. The matcha lattes here are so delicious. Food: Chia pudding - good Danish - good Fried egg - good Scrambled egg with mushroom - delicious Sourdough bread - delicious Avocado - delicious
we read about all the hype but came out slightly disappointed. I thought it was overrated and a bit pricey for what we got, but the city is certainly not known for being cheap lol. it's definitely a cute place to visit/hangout to get a taste of the danish culture too. when we walked in, it was a bit crowded but I think we got lucky to have gotten seated right away. we got 2 glasses of gløgg, mad & kaffe burger, and a chicken salad smørrebrød (open sandwich), and fries with truffle mayo sauce for a total of $52. after being recommended to try the burger, I was expecting it to taste really good, but it was okay. honestly everything tasted okay, nothing special but at least we enjoyed the atmosphere and experience here.
Don't be fooled by the small dishes, but be sure to share to try all their offerings! Perfectly cooked scrambled eggs and tasty Christmas sausage and broccolini. Wifey's bacon was the only so-so dish, nothing special. Other than that it was a cozy place to enjoy breakfast and escape the morning drizzle.
If I were to describe this place in a few words, it would be instagrammable, trendy, expensive & tasty. When you walk up to the store, you immediately see people crowded around. The store isn't very petite, but it isn't very big either. It's a very popular place, so you do have to put your name down and wait for an empty table. Meanwhile, you get a paper menu where you can mark your options. You can choose any options ranging from meat/fish, greens, dairy, bakery, treat of the day. Secondly, you have an option for 3,5,7 small tapa-like items on your tray. There are so many delicious foods to choose from that you want it all, but then you think about the price... To be honest, it is quite expensive for the average person. But... I would say that it's worth trying/splurging on at least once. This is a very modern cafe with elements that any millennial would want. It has the beautiful tray set up, good natural lighting & various options to choose from. I did enjoy my experience here. My eyes and mouth was satisfied.

You check off items on your order sheet: 3, 5 or 7 food items which are served in petite bowls simply arranged on a wooden board. The genius move of serving it in this manner provides a striking contrast to the gorgeous mosaic tile pattern on the table. The avocado is prepared with chili oil and almonds, the smoked salmon is topped with a peppery watercress, a sweet carrot muffin with cream cheese is a sinful opposite to a delicious blueberry yogurt. No matter what you choose to nibble on, order a fresh squeezed OJ, a frothy chai latte or a thirst quenching mint lemonade. Everything was so good the first time, we came back the next day and it wasn't a fluke! This is an amazing place. Take an overhead shot of your fabulous brunch, post it on social media and watch the likes go up like crazy. This is brunch at its Instagram finest. Trust.

I loved Mad & Kaffe. I chose three small dishes, and they did not disappoint. I was sitting at one of the ends of the tables outside, so the service was not as fast; however the tasty food definitely made up for it.
i'm mad about this place! Never mind the fact that all of the waitresses were your typical Danish supermodels who are just simply the normal population, brimming with good cheer, a sense of humor, and a fleet efficiency. But the food was really great!! You get a little checklist and a pencil and you check off five or eight items and I checked off I believe it was scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage as well as this rhubarb raspberry berry concoction dessert at the end which is tremendously good. The coffee was sublime. Think I also had an espresso-tini, which drive the entire cost up to $50. There was also delicious bread. The whole place had that communal type of vibe that I so enjoy about Danish cafés. I asked one of the staff super- models about the little Danish flags that some of the tables had and her explanation was kind of convoluted, but I believe I understood it. Whenever there's a celebration of any kind - anything from a birthday, to someone starting a new job, to someone having a child, etc., Danes love to have a flag involved! Go here! read more

We popped in for a beverage and to charge our devices while traveling through -- what a pleasant surprise! Loved the unique decor, cozy vibes, and sweet staff. Watching the neighborhood locals mingle with baristas and amongst themselves was extra special. Ample seating outdoors as well as multiple areas indoors. We didn't have any food but all of the pastries looked fabulous. read more
Such a fun concept for brunch! It's a set price for 3, 5 or 7 items on your brunch board. Everything was delicious. They also have a great system for getting folks in & out. You order by checking what you want on a paper menu & then paying at the counter at the end with the same paper. Lovely ambiance & good service. read more

What a delightful place for breakfast. For a family of five passing thru looking for a local breakfast spot this place hit all the marks. For myself I chose the 5 pieces, including the scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, croissant, and yes porridge. Excellent! And filling. read more

Fantastic brunch spot. My boyfriend and I stayed at an Airbnb a couple blocks away and came to this place one morning. We sat outside in the cute patio area with our coffees and decided to have food here as well. We had our first Danish open-faced sandwich here as well as chicken tenders and fries. The sandwich was fantastic in terms of freshness, flavor and presentation. The tenders were also delicious and the fries were the crispiest fries I've ever had. We definitely enjoyed this place and would come back! read more

This restaurant is a hop, skip and a jump away from my apartment and it feels like such a treat, every time. The food looks beautiful and tastes even better! Everything on the menu is delicious, so you can't go wrong, but definitely make sure to get an order of chicken nuggets. You'll thank me later read more
This is a solid spot for a damn good burger in Copenhagen. Our Airbnb happened to be within short walking distance to Mad & Kaffe's Vesterbro location. Prior to knocking out mid-day, Yelp reviews and fears of having to wait a long time to be seated drove me to make an online reservation for dinner. Honestly, when we walked in just in time for our reservation, we were seated right away without them asking if we had reserved a table. Ah well, still glad to have taken extra precautions based on my general anxious mood about everything. The guy who seated us and served us was wonderful, friendly, and attentive. The interior itself gave us wondrous vibes of hygge, regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture. Soft light of candles by the windows, cosy corners, and warmth. The ambiance was truly exceptional. It was drizzling outside and we had just woken up from a nap so two cortados were of sheer necessity. These were served to us right away. Waters are self-serve. Next came our order of two 'Mad & Kaffe's Burgers' with Wholemeal Fries and Homemade Dip. They use all organic ingredients (organic beef patty + organic cheddar cheese + organic brioche bun), and the burger itself was a good size -- actually quite filling with the side of fries and homemade dip. Fell in love with those fries and dips, by the way. Thick cut and perfectly seasoned! We tried two of those homemade dips: truffle mayo + aioli. LOOOOVE. My partner and I enjoyed every fry dipped in those tangy sauces. Mmm. One of my top recommendations for dinner in CPH hands down. read more

I am a little bit obsessed with this restaurant concept. When you put your name on the list, you are given a little menu to fill out. It is complete with allergy information (gluten challenged person, here!), and you select how many items you'd like to get. There are 3, 5, and 7 item options depending on your level of hunger. It's kind of perfect for the indecisive diner, or someone like me who likes a healthy sweet/savory breakfast mix. When you are seated, you just give the menu to your waiter--no room for miscommunication or fear of questionable allergens. I was sold! This place is Pinterest level cute, has a wide variety of options, and is efficient for getting in and out. If anyone wants to bring this idea to the US, let me know and I will be the first in line! read more
Copenhagen is super hipster and this place is not an anomaly from the hipster-ness. LOL. The menu here is quite simple - you can choose either 3, or 5, or 7 items from the list you are given. There is a Danish and an English menu you can refer to. I highly recommend, everything. I got the avocado with chili oil, cinnamon bun, two poached eggs with chives, and the two chorizo sausages. My friend got the scrambled eggs, blueberry yogurt & granola, along with smoked salmon. For drinks, I got the homemade lemonade, and my friend got the homemade peach iced tea. I noticed that the carrot-ginger-apple juice was quite popular so I'll have to try that next time I'm in town. Make sure to get there early, before 9:30AM as it was starting to get packed by the time we left. read more
A must for bfast/brunch while in Copenhagen (they start serving lunch at noon, so get there earlier than that, especially on the weekends to ensure you get sat before the clock strikes 12). Not sure how this build your own brunch style experience hasn't made its way to the states yet, but I'm sure it will soon replace the huge, mountainous stacks of pancakes, breakfast sandwiches built for a linebacker, and so on. You pick 'em is the name of the game (3, 5, or 7 items), and the portions are tapas size, so you can have a little sweet, a little savory or a lot of either, but bottom line is you get a nibble of everything you want without wasting a bunch of food. Choose from "greens", "dairy", "bakery", "meat and fish", and "treat of the day". The bonus is it's presented in picture perfect form and doesn't rest on its good looks in the flavor dept; it delivers on taste, as well. Washed it all down with a delicious hazelnut iced coffee. I dined al fresco (it was on and off chilly and they had blankets), but noticed the extra cute interior and ample seating for groups when I dipped in to use the restroom. read more

Great food, fantastic service and it might be the cutest restaurant I have ever seen. On our recent visit to Copenhagen we dinned here twice because our son loved the cheeseburger. The signature stew was delicious as well. Highly recommend! read more

Everything we had was sooo good! I highly recommend visiting this spot for breakfast/brunch. The menu has sections where u could pick 3, 5, or 7 items. There are 5 sections to choose from: greens, dairy, bakery, meat and fish, and treat of the day (dessert). For drinks, they have coffee, tea, juice, etc. I had: Greens: - Avocado with lemon mayo, salted almonds and cress Dairy: - Black currant yogurt & coconut granola - Organic mild goat cream cheese and sweet pickled black currant Bakery: -Royal danish pastry -Bread basket Meat and fish: -Icelandic cold salmon with smoked cream cheese and radish Treat of the day: ‐Sweet rice porridge with amarena cherry sauce and candied almond flakes Drink: Vanilla chai latte with nonfat milk I could've gone without the bread basket and the goat cream cheese dish because it was def too much food but I was just eager to try stuff read more

Omg... I'm obsessed with trying multiple things on the menu just because I'm so indecisive. Every single dish I ordered was so good. What topped was the banana bread (also so beautiful) and the matcha latte I got. I'm telling you that was the best matcha latte I've had to date and I get that quite a lot. Salmon was fresh, chicken nugget was crispy, and the waitress was so friendly!!! Loved this place read more
Love the ordering system, the choices were great, very fresh. I would have give. It 5 stars but the avocado's were not ripe. Maybe I'm just being picky since this is the first meal I eat after landing from Los Angeles but hey, hey tried to make it right by giving me a free refill of coffee. Otherwise it's 2 dollars per refill. Just like everything in Copenhagen, everything is expensive. This 5 item breakfast will run you north of $20 The chocolate pastry was delicious, the chia seed pudding was my favorite for sure. The sausage was just ok but it was NĬce to have something salty cut through the sweetness. The atmosphere is busy yet cozy. Def a great place to check out if you're in the neighborhood. read more

I enjoyed the best lunch I've ever eaten at Mad & Kaffe - chicken salad and steak tartar smørrebrød! I came back for a repeat, but they were still serving brunch at 12 (which was still decent), but I like the late lunch menu more which seems to start around 1p. I also tried their loaded fries on another occasion - it would be best to share these with some friends since they are rather heavy. The ice coffee was perfect for a hot day. When my buddies come to visit, I'll bring them back to try some of the adult beverages. The Sønder Boulevard street corner is bright and sunny, and likewise the staff was energetic and friendly. read more

This was probably my favourite meal in Copenhagen and a great place for breakfast! I went on a Sunday morning at around 9am just before it started to get busy. I ordered 5 items at 129dkk and a Chai Latte which was around 40dkk. All of the dishes i had were really good and I would have loved to have tried everything on the menu because feedback from other customers around me was just as good. The cafe was cosy and welcoming and service was good too. This is a great place to come to with friends (you can play board games whilst you wait for food) but was also good to go to if your traveling solo like I was. It Could just be me but I found food in Copenhagen to be more on the pricey side however I would say this meal was worth it- I was not disappointed. read more

Mad & Kaffe Fried Chorizo Sausage with BBQ Ketchup, Chicken Nuggets with Sweet and Sour Sauce, Blueberry Soy Yogurt with Housemade Muesli and Berries, Organic Vesterhavsost Cheese with Housemade Currant Jam, Organic Rye Bread and Sourdough Bread with Butter, Organic Cinnamon Bun with Chocolate, Organic Gluten Free Brownie With the 25% Sales Tax and focus on quality ingredients making most of Copenhagen's dining fairly expensive compared to the rest of Europe it was admittedly a bit surprising when two people independently suggested Mad & Kaffe as one of the city's best breakfasts, the choose your own adventure menu at a bargain price of 3 items for 78DKK, 5 for 120 and 7 for 148...or about what one would spend for a half-dozen pastries at Lagkagehuset. Opened in 2015 at Sønder Boulevard 68 in Vesterbro, a second location eastward toward the Airport opening since, it was just past nine o'clock that the bike was parked amidst many others outside a space that would soon be filled with 20-somethings on a non-Holiday Monday, most of them speaking Dutch and clearly local, though both the menu and service is available in English. Essentially a quick fire kitchen, most of the Breakfast items easy to prepare or pre-made with Breads and Sweets outsourced or baked early, those dining at Mad & Kaffe are first given a table followed by a Checklist and a Pencil, the choices divided into sections including Dairy, Greens, Bakery, Meat & Fish or Treat of the Dairy with Eggs randomly filed under the first section and the total number of options around twenty. Self service for water, though most seemed to be lingering at tables over coffee and conversation, it was after some deliberation that the seven item choice was made with a 4/3 split towards Sweet, the wooden board arriving about fifteen minutes later with everything accounted for and first bites of the "Chorizo" a bit strange as meat had definite heat, though not the source typically found in the Mexican version with a texture more akin to a Hotdog than a housemade 'Sausage.' Taking a few bites of Bread before moving on, the thinly sliced Rye textural and dense while the Sourdough unfortunately seemed a little dry even with the packaged Butter, a Chicken "Nugget" that would actually be called a "Strip" or "Plank" Stateside was tasted next, the coating a spicy mix that imparted a slight nuttiness nothing like the Batter used back home and all the better for it, though the "Sweet and Sour Sauce" was more like American BBQ while that served with the Chorizo was sort of like Heinz mixed with Tabasco Sauce. Using Cheese as a sort of transition, the Danes' love of Bread with a slice at Breakfast fairly obvious from a look at any morning counter or takeaway in town, the thick wedge of semi-hard Vesterhavsost provided a mild bit of sweetness while proving a pleasant foil to the Sour Currant Jam by its side, the Soy "Yogurt" to follow nicely flavored with Blueberries and creamy in texture though the Granola fell far short of the likes of Mirabelle or Grød. Sad to see the Kanelsnegl topped in a big dollop of Chocolate, the Pastry layers mostly fine though not as heavy in Butter or Cinnamon as others, Mad & Kaffe's Gluten Free Brownie would turn out to be the most "American" of the trip, the flourless base eating a lot like Fudge beneath a layer of Ganache while the typical Danish "Brownie" more closely resembles a slice of Chocolate Cake. read more
