We visited this quaint brunch place on recommendation from a friend/local. We all agreed that this was one of the best brunches we've had so far on vacation. We loved that we could each pick and try a variety of dishes based on our respective preferences. Recommend getting reservations if possible..However, we were lucky to be seated immediately on Easter Sunday.

This was our first meal and we walked out mind blown by the quality of food, the hygge moments and the excellent service we had experienced. The dining experiences we had in the Danish capital were so impressive that I feel compelled to establish a new rating standard here. Absolutely delicious open sandwiches with piles of filling on traditional rye bread, maybe a bit on the smaller side than what you would usually expect but was a perfect portion for me where I didn't walk out feeling stuffed. This is a great place to try the famous Danish smorrebrod. Their burger was just as delicious and presentation lovely. Their cappuccino was the best I had on the two week trip in Europe, they use local Copenhagen Coffee Lab beans which is also available for purchase here. They had candles and fresh flowers on every table, mint and cucumber water instead of regular tap water. The place itself is elegantly designed with soft lighting yet felt casual. Music even in the restrooms but wasn't overpowering. Service isn't rushed, you take as much time as you need at your table for the little joys of eating a meal. I sure learned a thing or two from the Danes.

we read about all the hype but came out slightly disappointed. I thought it was overrated and a bit pricey for what we got, but the city is certainly not known for being cheap lol. it's definitely a cute place to visit/hangout to get a taste of the danish culture too. when we walked in, it was a bit crowded but I think we got lucky to have gotten seated right away. we got 2 glasses of gløgg, mad & kaffe burger, and a chicken salad smørrebrød (open sandwich), and fries with truffle mayo sauce for a total of $52. after being recommended to try the burger, I was expecting it to taste really good, but it was okay. honestly everything tasted okay, nothing special but at least we enjoyed the atmosphere and experience here.

Don't be fooled by the small dishes, but be sure to share to try all their offerings! Perfectly cooked scrambled eggs and tasty Christmas sausage and broccolini. Wifey's bacon was the only so-so dish, nothing special. Other than that it was a cozy place to enjoy breakfast and escape the morning drizzle.

If I were to describe this place in a few words, it would be instagrammable, trendy, expensive & tasty. When you walk up to the store, you immediately see people crowded around. The store isn't very petite, but it isn't very big either. It's a very popular place, so you do have to put your name down and wait for an empty table. Meanwhile, you get a paper menu where you can mark your options. You can choose any options ranging from meat/fish, greens, dairy, bakery, treat of the day. Secondly, you have an option for 3,5,7 small tapa-like items on your tray. There are so many delicious foods to choose from that you want it all, but then you think about the price... To be honest, it is quite expensive for the average person. But... I would say that it's worth trying/splurging on at least once. This is a very modern cafe with elements that any millennial would want. It has the beautiful tray set up, good natural lighting & various options to choose from. I did enjoy my experience here. My eyes and mouth was satisfied.

Menu -- check off 3, 5 or 7 items and then hand it off to your server

This brunch spot puts all the hipster brunch spots in SF to shame! Yes, the wait can be quite long especially on a sunny day, but grab a coffee or tea from a nearby cafe and wait it out. It is worth it. The aesthetically hip ambiance of Mad & Kaffe is enhanced by their equally pretty presentation at brunch. You check off items on your order sheet: 3, 5 or 7 food items which are served in petite bowls simply arranged on a wooden board. The genius move of serving it in this manner provides a striking contrast to the gorgeous mosaic tile pattern on the table. The avocado is prepared with chili oil and almonds, the smoked salmon is topped with a peppery watercress, a sweet carrot muffin with cream cheese is a sinful opposite to a delicious blueberry yogurt. No matter what you choose to nibble on, order a fresh squeezed OJ, a frothy chai latte or a thirst quenching mint lemonade. Everything was so good the first time, we came back the next day and it wasn't a fluke! This is an amazing place. Take an overhead shot of your fabulous brunch, post it on social media and watch the likes go up like crazy. This is brunch at its Instagram finest. Trust.

What a delightful place for breakfast. For a family of five passing thru looking for a local breakfast spot this place hit all the marks. For myself I chose the 5 pieces, including the scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, croissant, and yes porridge. Excellent! And filling.

Heaven of breakfast for 2 = 63 eur The food was five star though! It gets busy here on the weekends, so better come in the earlier hours.

I loved Mad & Kaffe. I chose three small dishes, and they did not disappoint. I was sitting at one of the ends of the tables outside, so the service was not as fast; however the tasty food definitely made up for it.

This was around 4:13 pm on a Saturday. We order three smorrebrod and we ate them in the Tivoli food hall. All were served on plates. The correct way to eat was with a fork and knife as we learned while watching an episode of Somebody Feed Phil. The chicken salad was undoubtedly our favorite. Lots of shredded chicken but overall smooth and tasty. We crumbled the bacon to add some texture and that was even better. The marinated salmon was ok but we liked the nice pop of flavor from the pomegranate seeds. I may try to add them at home to my smoked salmon. The egg and shrimp smorrebrod was tastier. We returned our empty plates back to the counter when we were finished. Not completely in love with open face sandwiches but may try again on a future return trip to Copenhagen.

You can find Hallernes on the fifth floor of the shopping mall. We got there later in the day and there was still an array of toast options - some vegetarian, others pescatarian and others with a heaping of meat on top. We enjoyed the tartar, lemon & dill shrimp and the traditional pork toast. Each was somehow better than the next. Everything was so fresh which really enhanced the contrast of flavors on our plates. We liked it so much we contemplated going back and ordering more! We sat in the dining area to eat, which had a high chair available. We also got a window seat which had a beautiful view of the square below and some stunning architecture. We sat there for awhile just enjoying the view. When we were flying out of the Copenhagen airport we noticed this same restaurant inside one of the terminals. It's awesome to see such high quality food be offered in such casual but busy spaces. We'll definitely be back!

After another 30 minutes we asked if we could at least get our salads which came out shortly after. Our meals came out 15-20 minutes later. Ribeye was tasty and fries were good but not exceptional as we had anticipated. We had to ask server for our desserts which we had ordered initially with the meal. The table was cleared and then our desserts came out. By this point we had been there about 2.5 hours. We told the server we were ready to leave and the check came. We said we thought the meals ( each couple shared one meal) were on them. The server said that we had been told only our drinks would be on them! One couple only drank water and the only thing comped for a 2 hour wait for food was for a Diet Coke and a lemonade. Certainly not what we were told. Will not be recommending Fleisch to other friends as it did not meet our expectations.

"Everything you look at can become a fairy tale and you can get a fairy tale from everything you…read moretouch." - Hans Christian Andersen Hej! Absolutely the most delicious Brød I had in Denmark! And trust me, I'm not being vulgar or sexist lol! If you're not fluent in Danish... Brød simply means bread. Ya! It's more than just bread! Bageriet Brød is located in the Vesterbro neighborhood of København and popular with the local Danes, so you pretty much know it's legit. I planned to bike over one early morning, but since WiFi was non-existent on the streets I couldn't unlock a bike, so did it the old fashioned way and walked about six blocks. Not the worse thing since I planned on carbing up! It's in an old neighborhood lined with boutiques and cafes, most still closed that early. Bageriet Brød is open! Yasss! I enter to Danes ordering morning Brød, coffee, etc. It gives me just enough time to peruse the menu in.. Danish! Lol! No worries since I do speak a little French, Spanish and English which does nothing here lol. Honestly most Danes in København speak perfect English, so no worries, mon. Order away... There's really no line, per se, but Danes are honest, never in a rush, the line is by honor system, so even tho two people slid ahead of me, when it was my turn, everyone turned my way lol. So I ordered the Morning Cinnamon Bun, Almond Croissant, Latté. The young Danish lady making my Latté was polite and spoke perfect English. Definitely easy on the eyes, but hey what's my verdict? I'll tell ya once I cross the street and find a bench. I decide to eat the Morning Cinnamon Bun first! Oh my! Each bite literally melted in my mouth! Crisp exterior with soft interior. So delicious! The Latté on point! Maybe not the best I've had, but I think the cute Dane who mix'd it - certainly convinced me it was the best! :D I decided to eat the Almond Croissant later, which ended being as soon as I got back to my hotel! And it was as amazing as the Bun I had earlier! Just Wow! After reading the reviews on Yelp & Google I knew my wants! :D Denmark still uses the native Dansk Krone currency rather than the Euro, fortunately, most businesses, will gladly accept your credit card. I also reached out to Rachel, former San Francisco Yelper, and now expat living in København that informed me of the Bageriet Brød and iconic Tartin Bakery connection. It all made sense after the fact! If you're unfamiliar with Tartin in San Francisco it is a pilgrimage for lovers of baked goods! Story goes that the owner of Tartin influenced Bageriet Brød to the point that they have some of his secret recipes! I've had Tartin before and I admit the quality is very familiar! What a small loving world we live in, huh?! In the end, I highly recommend Bageriet Brød in København! Amazing baked goods that will knock your Ecco's off! Just remember to bring your CC unless you be carrying Dansk Krone on ya! Jeg elsker også dig! And yes, I believe in fairy tales... :)

The pastries were okay. It'd be better if they were softer and richer in taste. I like the ambiance…read moreof the place - very simple yet stylish. Also the location is great - a square and a lot of hype stores around.
