Look at my "middle" part and i aaid i wanted box braids I have never been so disappointed with a braid service. First, they told me on the phone that it would cost $200, but when I arrived, they said it was $220. Beware of scammers who try to convince you that you're wrong. I specifically asked for box braids, but the stylist did them at random. I ended up with a middle part and a Z-shaped pattern in the middle of my head. The staff also talk badly about you while you're in the chair. The more you check their work, the angrier they get. I asked for a refund due to the poor quality of the middle part, but the stylist refused and said I had to come back. The service was very low-quality, and I left feeling terrible. Just got my hair done yesterday and I don't like it. It looks like my seven year old did it. I showed bah a picture and every thing and it still does not look like it. What a waist of money. I will not recommend them. I Was there two months ago too and got box braids and my hair was cut when they was trimming the braids. I have no one else to do my hair so I said I will try her again. I was here just yesterday and it was a great experience. This was my.first visit but the other 2 women being serviced were regulars. The braids look to great and they actually listened when I asked them not to braid my hairline too tightly. I woke up this morning with no pain at all. My braids come out okay. What I don't like about this shop is the owner is pretty rude and don't care about your hair. Her name is Bah. I kept telling not to braid my edges tight and she kept doing it. Then she wanted to talk about me in her language and get an attitude. I don't understand nothing I asked her was difficult but she really got an attitude about it. I won't be going to her again. You are being paid for a service and if you don't like braiding women's hair for a living quit simple! I can tell she hates what she does. Like I told her if any of my edges come out I will be suing her. And it's funny how the next girl who got in her chair told her the same thing about her edges not to be tight...but the owner wanted to Huff and puff about my request. Wow, choosing this "salon" (i.e. "filthy, stinky storefront on Howard Street) to do simple braids for an upcoming special event was a huge mistake. I made an appointment for 4:30 and left work early to ensure that I was on time. The "stylists" barely acknowledged my presence, and as the time dragged on, offered no apology for the fact that they kept me waiting there until 6:20 and STILL hadn't started. Plus they were going to charge $15 more than the salon I usually go to for braids. Really??? I would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE, EVER. But I still wanted them so I went and got a full head of long braids with extensions, They look fantastic and I get complements virtually every day on how good they look, Bah is super nice. I didn't want to give them a five because nobody is perfect. I usually go south to get my hair done but I didn't feel like traveling. I googled shops and came across this one. After reading the reviews I called and she took me right in. I love my hair and the reviews were right on point. The only thing is you have to tell them exactly how you want it. Other than that I am satisfied. The people were nice and welcoming. The shop could use a makeover but hey everything has flaws. I highly recommend this shop if you want great service.
