I have been going to Emmah for probably 20 years! Started when she was braiding from her house. Her current shop is the largest and most convenient in terms of parking. All of the braiders are good - some just faster than others. You can schedule an appointment or walk-in. I'd recommend arriving right at 9am when they open and going on a weekday (vs. weekend). It would be ideal if we could research before going into a beauty shop. Ditched work on Thursday for this shop, after seeing beautiful pictures of braided hair out of this shop. Got there about 10am, requested for service, Emmah advised to get Micro braids instead of the mini, as my hair was too short. In short, with my own hair piece, it cost me $366.00. Sat through consistent loud talking, disregard for clientele, who mentioned refreshment, no offer of even water or a break. My braider didn't speak English, anything I wanted to say was something else, when she was done, I asked her, what the finish would be like, she braided the end, dipped the human hair in water, didn't shape or trim hair, she just braided, no shape to hair, 366 wasted for shoddy work, didn't even offer a mirror for me to look at work done, at this time, I was very much tired from wasted time and constant loud talking, I had to leave, but will make sure people are aware of this shoddy mediocre work parading as a beauty empire. read more

Talented braiders shitty customer service. I called this shop Sunday and asked if I could be seen on Monday at 9am. Emmah said that would work for her. I got there about 9:15 after a parent teacher conference. I was leaning towards some lemonade braids, but was talked into box braids. My hair was washed, detangled, and stretched so I was good to do. They ended up taking a while because both women had some errands to run. No worries, I'm behind schedule as well. I go sit down and this woman combs my hair and gets started. I plug my phone and Switch into an outlet and play Pokemon Shield while they braid. About 8 hours later they finally finish and I take my first bathroom break in 8 hours. At this time I also pay the 183 via Visa Debt I place my Switch on the table and run to the bathroom. I come back from the bathroom and see a crack on my Switch screen. In the time I took to go potty my Switch has done a swan dive. I ask them what happened and the women flip shit and start getting loud. I calmly say that I'm not accusing, but I've played this game all 8 hours so no big ass crack was in it while I was playing it. Both women proceed to have royal hussy fits screaming, yelling, and basically trying to accuse me of getting my money back which I had not asked for in the first place. At this point one of the women rudely says that Emmah has cameras, but at no point am I offered access to the footage to explain why my Nintendo Switch has swan dived off the counter. After being yelled at in English and rudely spoken to in what I assume was French I walked out with my cracked screen while telling them this would be my first and last time at the shop. The seated one said something else rude and I walked out of the shop livid at my damaged video game and the way I'd just been treated after spending 183.00. While my hair looks great, minus the highlights I asked for, I will not be returning to this shop. That's not how you treat paying customers after you break their shit. Oh, and talking shit about folks is pretty classless, since you never know what people can understand. This place is good for just braiding hair if you don't care how it's done. If your picky about they way your hair should be done visit another braid shop. They can't do box braids. The parts don't be sectioned correctly or sized right. They look dry and stiff when they are finished and want their money before your hair is finished.And they are rude always speaking another language while doing hair. They can't part hair the correct way or down the middle. Box braid $180 starting but they don't come with boxes The pictures speak for themselves because they really don't show the scalp or back of the hair completed. This is my second time going to Emmah's and I am very pleased with my hair style. Very friendly staff, affordable, clean and the slay is always ready when I arrive. Both times I recieved crochet senegalese twists and was done in 4 hours. That includes them taking my hair down, washing and then re-braiding. It's nice having the beauty supply store right next door just in case you don't bring your own hair. I have tried several other salons for many different braiding styles and Emmah's is the best! read more

Read the reviews I came here twice once to get marley twists and once to get cornrows. Both times they pulled my hair the second time was worse and is why I won't go back. The lady sprayed the detangler in my hair but was still yanking at my head to detangle it. That's not even necessary!! read more

Worst experience ever I took my daughters here on a Saturday morning told them exactly what my daughters wanted and paid for it. One wanted sengelese twist & the other wanted Havana twists. I paid them $380 for both girls. Both girls wanted streaks as well. I was so pissed when I picked my daughter's up. The Havana twist looked more like medium or large sengelese twist & instead of them putting streaks in my other daughters they put a whole section of blond directly in the top of her head. Not to mention their braids started coming down after 2 days. I took my kids back to rectify the problem they fixed the big section of blond but they still didn't use enough glue. I'm constantly fixing braids that I paid to have professionally done. My other daughter still never got the twists that she wanted. They are very unprofessional. My advice to people who wanna get their hair done by these unprofessional people is. You'll be wasting time & money. Emmah was the one who did my hair and she was at least 45 mins late. She brought her baby so i figured that was the reason she was late and I let it go (no apology). She does work fast, and she is a nice woman. I was getting my Senegalese twist done at the time while a another women came in to get her hair fixed and started a loud argument with another hair stylist ( who i think is her sister) to the point where her sister had to be taken out of the room to calm down it was extremely unprofessional. Not to mention my twist were done too tight to a point where u could see the white bulb of my hair being pulled and and i actually had 2 twist fall out as a result. So I've been here a total of four times and this last time will be my last. So I got my hair cut off on the sides and back so I only have hair at the top of my head. Since I usually have a full head of hair I went up to the shop to ask how much they would charge for box braids for me seeing I didn't have a head full of hair I said I wanted waist length she quoted me 180 I said really how about 160 she said ok came back waited a good hour and then the lady she told to do my hair ask me what length I was getting I said waist length she says 180 I said no she quoted me 160 so she gets loud where the entire shop can here argues with me and the lady it was bad. However seeing I needed my hair done because I had to go to work I told her do whatever length that's 160 and I definitely won't be back. I was told to get there at 9 or 10. Got there on time and had to wait HOURS to even get in a seat smd hey tended to. That's the only reason why I'd give them 2 stars. MOST RIDICULOUS PLACE EVER!!! Now normally I don't write reviews but this time I had to. Today I just wanted to get my hair braided so I walked in and the lady was explaining the prices with the $20 off so technically u are not getting a discount because the tack the $20 on to just take it back off. Then she told me that my hair would be long... FREAKING JOKE. ITS NOT EVEN LONG GOOD BUN. For someone like me who gets sew-ins, braids and others knows how this works and she did a piss poor job. When you walk into a braid shop and see that the braiders and owner have no edges whatsoever you should run. I didn't run and now my entire hairline is jacked. Emmah and her sister ripped my edges out. When I called to complain she said I was just tender headed. I took the box braids down and my entire front row was jacked up. Don't go here!!!! read more
