I had this company reupholster a chair and ottomans. I wasted a lot of money on beautiful fabric. Very much a below average job. Wavy seams and welting. The corners came out terrible. They also should have known that they should not have used the fabric for the welting....as it is slowly fraying... a function of the type of fabric, they should have foreseen this and we should have used the ultra shade that we had, but they did not think of it. I would not recommend this company for any better quality furniture, maybe patio furniture or old car seat.... And only if you want to wait months without getting a call back... unreal, a very bad experience Sorry, but you truly deserve this review. read more

I am very satisfied with Bailey and Son's Upholstery. My story is this: I sometime ago purchased an expensive upholstered headboard and frame from Ethan Allen. Unfortunately, my wife and I never liked the color and grew tired of the style. I found Bailey and Son's in Yelp and visited them in Martinez. From the start they were friendly and helpful. They also had a large selection of fabric samples to look at and take home. We decided on our material and a new shape for the headboard. Bailey and Son's took on the work. Did it very professionally and in a timely manner. They also took the added step of bringing the newly designed headboard and bed-frame over to my house and carried the heavy beast upstairs. I am grateful for their efforts and very happy with their work. Lastly, the negotiated price was more than fair and I will use them again if the need arises. All 3 times are a charm. We used Bailey and Sons services 3 times for different work and each time we were extremely satisfied. The first time we had very nice heavy kitchen chairs where the upholstery had worn to the foam. The reupholstered chairs came back looking re-incarnated as new great looking chairs. We also had an oak kitchen table, the same age as the chairs, that really needed some refinishing. The table also was returned looking new ready for many more years of use. The 3rd job was on 4 stylish leather chairs that had ripped at the upper end due to sun exposure and wear. Turk suggested repairing the torn areas and using a cover compatible in quality and color and once again, they were returned looking great and ready for several more years of good use. It's very nice when your expectations can be exceeded - multiple times. read more

I have been dealing with Turk of Baileys and Sons over re-upholstering my couch, chair and ottoman. While he has done a good job on the actual re-upholstering, he is unable to follow directions of what you want. I gave specific direction of what I wanted in terms of trim. It was important to the design of the furniture. He ignored the directions and did what he wanted. When I complained and asked for some repair, he agreed. However, the repairs we agreed on the ottoman were ignored and once again he did as he wanted. We also agreed he would change the trim on the 6 cushions to rectify the trim error. He has completed the 5th and 6th cushions and now is demanding $300.00 in addition to the 4K I have already paid him to return the 2. So for the repairs, he has charged for both the material and labor to correct his error. I won't go into how long it took to do the job. When I contracted with him it was 1 month and that was in May. It is now Oct 31st. read more

Bailey and Son's had a tremendous selection of fabrics when I couldn't find what I wanted at fabric stores. They offered a Scotchguard dipping of the fabric which we chose to do. It took a little longer, but since we picked out a cream color material I was glad they offered it. The work was completed in less than a week and they are beautiful! VERY reasonably priced! The knowledge they have of the furniture itself is something you don't learn from a book. This knowledge has been passed down through generations of masters in their craft. I have them recovering all my pieces for the collection. Couches, chairs, love seats, benches.... Knowing how to cover vintage furniture is one thing but knowing how to recreate these pieces to their original greatness from the inside out is another. Having the skills to restore old and antique to vintage upscaled while keeping the greatness of the piece is a skill you are taught. The better a person is prepared before starting a project the better it will likely turn out. Be sure and check out the business before you begin and try and get some references. And consider the following items as well. 1. Be prepared to pay by credit card and not in cash and keep all your documents. 2. Be prepared for the estimate to double. 3. Be prepared for completion dates to be extended by months. 4. Be prepared for the wrong fabric to be used and for no financial compensation for any problems or delays. 5 Be prepared for phone contact to be challenging. Be prepared for contact in person to be challenging as well. Deafening punk/rock music playing will make it difficult to communicate so be prepared for that, too. 6. Be prepared not to get your items back if you finally decide you've had enough with the repeated delays and you cancel the job. Also, be prepared to have your friends help you get your items back if you're unsuccessful at getting them back on your own. 8. Be prepared to pay full price, but not get what you asked for. And you might want to consider filing a small claims lawsuit and a complaint with the local chamber of commerce. 11. Be prepared to use a different business. Wow, if I could leave a review of less than a star, I would. I had them reupholster my living room sectional that cost over $5K. What I got back was a joke. They substituted the cushions for something of a much lesser quality. The cushions were a mess, and the sofa back which was tacked to the back of the sofa starting coming undone. I now have huge u-shaped prongs poking me whenever I sit down. This after having to wait over 4 months of waiting for them to find the time to do the job. After repeated phone calls, they finally "gave back" my sofa, along with an invoice for 3X the estimate. I paid them what they originally suggested and I moved on. However, the story doesn't end there....my mother, who recommended them to me, had dropped off some chairs to be reupholstered. Unfortunately, she never received a copy of a work order, just their word that it would be done in a timely fashion. After my fiasco with them, my mother called to see if she could finally pick up her chairs. The owner's response? "What chairs? We don't have your chairs". End of story. Bottom line, stay away from this place. I'm shocked they're still in business. read more

I have used Bailey's in the past and been satisfied. However, this time NOT!! I needed to drop off couch cushions for the foam to be replaced - not so hard you think? I called on a Friday to ask if I could drop them off Monday around noon and Sherry said yes. I called before I went and she wasn't there so I left a message. She didn't call me back until Tues day mid morning. I made arrangements to drop of Wednesday morning. I called at 9:30 (the time she said she comes to work) she said she would be there in 20 minutes. When I told her I needed to be back at work by 10 for an appointment she said she'd hurry but it didn't sound like she was sure she'd make it so I asked if I could drop them by in the afternoon. She responded that her day was too crazy. I then asked if there was a time like an appointment that I could get them dropped off or did I need to go somewhere else. She said, "You know what, you should just go somewhere else". OK, Sherry, I will. The customer service left a little to be desired. I think if you make an appointment with her then it might be ok but she didn't offer that to me. read more

So I met this father and son team by looking at yelp I had had a terrible time finding someone to do the interior on my 1976 Tahiti Hawaiian jet boat. So I contact Dave and we start to talk I send him some terrible pics of the interior and after a day or so I hear back a rough estimate it was very fair and since then I have spent a lot of time with them both this is a family owned local place that has been in business for a long time his dads dad had it before them.. Now the quality of work I couldn't ask for better the recently put carpet in my boat and it is impeccable now waiting for the interior to be installed but I have seen some of the finished product and it exceeded my expectations by far dealing with these guys is like a family member I will post some pics once it is all done... But the workmanship is out of this world ..
