I have used Bailey's for a very long time since they have always been fair, honest & reliable. This time I dropped my car off on Wed night for a Thurs appt. Never heard from them all day Thurs. When I called they said they couldn't get to it but would get to it first thing Fri. Then I didn't hear from them again Fri so I called at 4:00pm. Their excuse was someone didn't show up for work so they didn't work on my car, nor did they bother to let me know on on Fri before a 3-day weekend. They said I could come pick it up and bring it back sometime the next week. They've lost my business and recommendations. Zero for customer service & consideration. What a disappointment & inconvenience. I'd give them zero stars if I could. read more

Spouse was told that if we made an appointment they would be able to diagnose auto issue in about an hour. Left car and went for coffee. At noon - 2-1/2 hours after scheduled appointment nothing had happened and was told nothing would happen until after lunch. Left. Worst customer service ever. read more

Great place! The only place I will take my car. Honest, did a great job on tires and oil change. Dealer said I needed new breaks and roaters and Bailey's said everything was fine! Just needed a couple of tires. Showed me brakes were good! read more

These guys are outstanding! I couldn't be happier with the service I received. I had a problem with the front grill of my Audi that will end up needing to be done by a body shop. They did a temporary fix until I can get it properly serviced and didn't charge me (at least 1/2 hour of their time) even though I repeatedly tried to pay them. I am a repeat customer, and I appreciate that they were 1) honest that they couldn't adequately fix the problem, and 2) that they didn't charge me for the time they did spend with me. I will add, the first time they serviced me was for my brakes, which have performed great and at a great price. Thanks! read more

Alright, to start off: the people who work here are efficient and really good at what they do. There are few people who are as good as they are that charge what they charge. I took one of my cars there a few years back to get some noises checked out. Not only did they give me a fair quote, that actual price for the job ended up being LESS THAN the estimate!!! I have never had that happen in my life. Who knows if that regularly happens but it really made me feel like I was taking it to a reliable place. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful and upfront with costs. I've since recommended them and my husband takes his cars there regularly when needed. read more

BUYER BEWARE! Not sure if this was ignorance and they are trying to scam you. Either way you should probably bring your car somewhere else. I went in yesterday because my car was leaking water into the passenger side of the floorboard. They took my car back the individual told me that I had a bad Heater Core and that it was actually coolant leaking not water. The cost for replacement and labor was right around $800. To get a second opinion I took it to another recommended auto repair shop (Smether's Auto - Olathe) and they told me that is was indeed water leaking and charged me $50 to replace a drain hose. Who knew honest auto repair shops still existed! This place is legit. I have been going for several years now after a friend recommended them. The first time I went there they saved me hundreds of dollars that I would have spent on unneeded repairs that an out of town mechanic told me I needed. I have been a loyal customer ever since. My last visit, I gave them very little direction (I believe my exact words were it doesn't sound right). They were able to analyze the problem and have my car back to me in a few hours and didn't charge me a thing to analyze the source. I took my vehicle here due to past experience as well as their reputation. I've been hearing and feeling something on the front end of my vehicle. They essentially told me that the noise I heard was from something rolling around inside the occupied part of my vehicle. They offered no explanation as to what I could be hearing. I had to call them to get a response as I had not heard anything for several hours. I was given every excuse in the book for not having the time to call me. I've been taking my cars to Bailey' for close to 15 years. Every time I leave with the feeling that I got a straight deal and no one tried to convince me to do the unnecessary work. Just yesterday they saved me at least $1500 when they repaired my transmission problem without having to rebuilt or replace it, like I was offered in a local transmission shop 16 minutes earlier. I always get quality advice, straight talk, quality maintenance, prompt and reasonable service. A lot of times their prices are lower than the dealer's, but most importantly they are my trusted neighborhood mechanic and I can't think of any place that could do a better job on my vehicle. read more

Thumbs up to Bailey's! I suspected a bad seal in a water pump on my son's truck. I called 6 shops and received approx. the same estimate. The calls ranged from waiting for the service advisor to answer the phone after being transferred, to being told to leave a" little wiggle room in cost expectations in case the mechanic finds something else"....right. Besides he gave me the highest estimate 200 bucks more than the other estimates i received. Baily's estimate was approximate to the majority of estimates i received. My final cost was 40 bucks less! I also like the fact that they are open from 6:00-6:30, that shows work ethic. I am a field service professional who works for a large corporation, and we strive to provide service just like the service i received. read more

I was referred to Bailey's by a co-worker several years ago. Since then, I've had two vague issues of the type that would offer an unscrupulous individual a perfect opportunity to pad the bill. The first one ended up being an adjustment of a switch, costing me $7 and a bit. The second one was almost as cheap, about $24. On one other job, they tried to talk me out of replacing a control unit, saying they couldn't find any sign of a problem with it...since it was my wife's car and not a very expensive module, I had them replace it anyway to be on the safe side. Those experiences left me with a good deal of confidence in their honesty and integrity. Since then, I've had them do a couple of bigger jobs, replacing a clutch, and a timing belt. Both jobs were done quickly, and at very competitive rates. They have, once or twice, forgotten to call when the job was finished, but I'm more than willing to overlook such a minor detail, for the comfort of finding a competent, honest mechanic. I can't even justify knocking off a single star for that. Even though their location is not terribly convenient for me, I cannot see myself going elsewhere, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

Bailey's has always been good to me. Fair prices and honest diagnoses of repairs. I would have made it 5 stars if they could have even made an attempt to contact me about repairs needed. I contacted them 1 day after having a car towed to the shop. Was told they could get it in 3 days later. Okay I get that...they are busy. 6 days later I was told yea we called you and we are waiting on your insurance agent. Uhmmm NO you never called me. I went in person and spoke to them. Fast foward 1-1/2 weeks finally car is fixed Would've been a much better experience if it hadn't been a mistake by them thinking I was a different customer. 3 stars because of the guy on the phone that has ZERO customer service skills. He was defensive in regards when I asked face to face why insurance was needed. Telling me why should we have to put money into the vehicle to give you an estimate. What?? I didn't ask you that. I asked why insurance was needed. I asked for a break down on the estimate. When the owner came into the picture all was done right and why I brought the vehicle to them. I just hope this rude non customer friendly guy I spoke with face to face isn't the future of the company. read more

I love Pat Bailey and his guys. They do good, prompt, honest work at a fair price. They don't try to upsell addtional service, or tell you that you need this or that done if you really don't need it done, the way repairmen at other shops--who work on commission--do. Yesterday I called Pat Bailey and told him I was coming in a few minutes after closing time to pick up my car, and could he just leave the keys under the seat? When I got there I found Pat had stayed late waiting for me, and had my car pulled up to the front door, engine running and car warming up. There have been other times where I've brought the car in, they did a little tinkering to solve the problem, and sent me one my way without even asking me to pay anything. You can't go wrong with Pat and his guys. I wish everyone I dealt with were as honest and competent as Pat Bailey. read more

If I could give a negative rating, I would! Please steer clear from this place! We brought our truck here on the advice of another car repair shop. All we wanted them to do was check the tire pressure gauges and see if they needed replaced or "learned". We told them that two of the four were working. Pat told me to bring the truck up and they would look at it...never mentioned a charge to look at it. My husband called and Pat told him that three of the four were bad and needed to be replaced. My husband said that two were reading....Pat said, no three are bad. Then proceeded to give an estimate to replace all four! When my husband questioned it, he said why not replace them all? They will be going bad soon. Then on top of all of that, they charged $20 just to look at them, which is really nothing, however it should have been disclosed when I made the appointment. When we questioned Pat about that, he said that he doesn't work for free. Then he asked my husband and I if we work for free. We both said, yes, at times we do! I told him I am in real estate and there are many times that I work for free hoping to EARN the business of my client. Pat then says "I knew you wouldn't fix the car because of where you live (Gardner) and who sent you here". I asked him what that means and he wouldn't explain. Why would you take those comments? Is he racist? Is he assuming that if you live in Gardner you can't afford to fix your car? I have no idea but based on that, I told Pat that I would NEVER allow him to work on any of our cars and I would make sure that other people know how he feels. I promptly called the mechanic shop that referred him and told him what he said about him behind his back. Needless to say, the referring mechanic was shocked. Pat clearly has no integrity - first he told us to fix things that weren't broken and second he insulted my husband and I to our face! BAD BUSINESS!!!!!! I was far from home, visiting my sister in Olathe when my car developed several problems - check engine light and an electric window that would not go up. I dropped my car off at Bailey's early one Monday morning and they managed to get everything fixed that day (even though there were quite a few cars ahead of me). So if anyone has heard of baileys automotive in Olathe I would recommend you stop doing business with them. I've taken my truck there three times to get a simple alignment and the first time they didn't check my ball joints or tighten my control arm down when they were done, my left ball joint was about to fall out. I drove to Wisconsin and back with my truck like that. When I got back I replaced my ball joint and took it to them again and then they don't tighten my driver side control arm down! And today they say all we can do is replace your cam bolts because they won't tighten down...I won't be giving them my business read more

WOMEN BEWARE! My wife had her vehicle in the shop for repairs. For insurance reasons, we tried to move the vehicle to another shop. Whenever I spoke with them, they were okay with that. However, when they got my wife on the phone, suddenly a bunch of charges started to appear for repair work that was (1) not performed and (2) certainly never authorized. I feel that they tried to take advantage of her, especially because they did not tell me anything about the charges. These charges then changed to storage fees when the insurance company started dealing with them to figure out what the guy at the shop was talking about. The charges changedthen from nothing, to repairs, then to storage. I am truly disappointed with the candor and integrity of the service we received. I will not be returning. read more

Bailey's auto service is getting worse over time. I took to my car for a regular maintenance to the shop. Once I picked up the car, I noticed the engine light was on (which was NOT on before I took the car there). I returned the car to the shop. The car was there all day Friday and all day Monday. I was told, they could not figure out what was wrong and that I should take it to the dealership. When I pointed out that the light was not on before they worked on it, the owner got upset and said "take it to the dealership, if they said it was something we've done to it, we'll pay for it". A response I've never expected from a professional service. In a nutshell, the service used to be good, but the attitude of the grumpy old man (the owner) is annoying. I just left. I called and told them that after they had finished an alignment, charged me over $80, and it was still pulling to the right. His response was "why". I said its pulling to the right. He told me to bring it on up after 2PM. I arrived at 2. I sat for 2 hours , then approached the counter and asked have you had a chance to look at my cat yet? He said,"no, we are pretty busy today. After about 2 hours 20 minutes, the mechanic came to me and ask what exactly was the issue I am having. I explained again. He thought maybe I had an issue with the brakes. I said no, there is a vibration in the front. I asked him if he would rotate the tires,to maybe alleviate the issue. He said OK.Then I mentioned, "so when you rotate the tires, can you look at the brakes then". He said yes. In about another 20 minutes (I think Pat is his name), came and dropped the keys in my hand, and said your ready, and walked away. Didn't realign the tires, didn't check on the brake, i sat there for 3 hours for nothing. They were rude, they were not attentive or detail at all, best advice: do NOT go there. read more

I took my car in based on the reviews I read here on yelp. My car was shaking, the check engine light was on, and it was making some very unseemly noises. Bailey's took a look and said all it needed was new tires and brake pads and rotors on the back. Great, no problem. I got the parts and they did the labor, I paid, and took my car. The next day I took it to get the oil changed at a different place (I had a coupon for them, hence using a different shop for that) and within 5 minutes of looking at the car they found about $1500 worth of additional stuff that had to be taken care of, problems that make the car very unsafe to drive. Bailey's failed to mention any of this when looking at my car and had I known all of this was wrong with it I wouldn't have dropped the $700 on the repairs at Bailey's and I would've just scrapped the car. But because Bailey's wasn't comprehensive in their assessment or willfully withheld information from me, I am now out $700 while shopping for a new car. Thanks, Bailey's. read more
