The bright spot was the cashier who checked us out. The BAD part was the 25 to 30 year old bald guy with glasses hoody and jeans that was so rude I was appauled. With no warning he came to me and said we they were closed at 4:00 pm on Good Friday. OK I get that closing early. But not warning, ordering me to leave and did not do this to anyone else. First visit here, I went specifically to look at bathroom vanity sinktops. I found one I loved and reasonably priced. No help with questions, they were not busy in this area. I went to the bathroom/kitchen desk, the woman there looked up the sinktop when I gave her the numbers. Said, "Yes we have it." Went back to ignoring me. I again, let her know I have never been here, what do we do to get this? She said they would send it to the warehouse. Went back to her desk work. I asked if she did that or do we do thay at the register. She said, she did that. Every step was a process, she was NOT helpful. No information. The salesman on the floor didn't offer help either. I am pretty self sufficient, but had no idea what the process was here. The two people in that department were not helpful nor friendly. This place is a real treat if you love to find everything you could possibly need in one gigantic place. Everything from candy to cabinets. Bargains galore. Basic food items at great discounts, holiday and seasonal stuff too. Great prices on furniture, mattressess, appliances, rugs and everything for the home. Staff is friendly and helpful, which is a nice change from most discount stores. My favorite thing to do is to take a friend or family member for their first visit, it's so fun to see their mouths drop open and their eyes get big as saucers. If you're looking for something, almost anything, you can find it at Bailey's. With that said, I found many of their food products were expired or just about to be. Many items sold in bulk sizes, it's difficult to gauge how quickly you can go through something if it's about to go bad. Now, don't let me scare you off because many items can be used past their "BEST IF USED BY" date but I personally would rather purchase items clear of their expiration dates. We didn't really know what to expect but this place was everything we expected to be. Kinda a Big Lots, sorta a HOBO's, with a touch of Home Depot, a scent of Blain's Farm & Fleet and just a sprinkle of Lawn & Tractor Supply. I try my best to set the scene...BIG ASS WAREHOUSE IN THE MIDDLE OF ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE. Park your car & don't try to bring in a cart. Trust me. Their current specials will be posted on a large sign when you get near the registers and before you can grab a cart. Since it was our first visit, we decided we were going to walk each aisle to see what there was to see. We grabbed our trolley (I call the carts that for fun), and began our excursion. Walked to the right and found a variety of automotive supplies, garden supplies and aisles upon aisles of home goods, party supplies, kitchen & bath cabinetry and furniture. They have what they have and that's pretty much it, but it you bring your measurements for your kitchen you're planning to remodel or bathroom that needs updating, they will design you your new room while you shop (or so the sign says). We found car air fresheners 2 for $1.00 and some great garden borders for 10 cents a stone. We grabbed a few random things like lightbulbs which are useful, some disposable storage containers for leftovers I have been using for lunch at work $1.00 for 50 containers, and work socks for the hubby for a few bucks. I loved the variety of planters and gardening supplies they had but the pricing wasn't that impressive to me compared to the options we have at Old Time Pottery. I'm really hoping to make it back in the next month or two to see if their pricing decreases on their pottery and garden supplies. I took a breeze through the furniture section to see if they had any platform beds but didn't find any there. I did see quite a few lamps, office chairs and school supplies. They may not be exactly the ones your kiddos would pick out at Target but the pricing was pretty good. We made it to the second (left) side of the store, to find a lot of grocery items, but more so snacks and toiletries. And oh my God, the canned goods!!! They had so many canned goods. I'll tell ya, if The Walking Dead ends up being real life, I'll be heading to this place to stock up on things to keep us alive liked canned peaches. My wife has become a jigsaw puzzle fanatic, and read that Bailey's had gotten in a huge lot of high quality puzzles. We had a long weekend and an urge to travel, and with the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum just down the road, we made the trip up. The best description that I can give of Bailey's Discount Center is that it is what would happen if Big Lots and Costco had a child together. The items available ranged from name brand mainstays to...very, very odd things (off brands, cheap toys, etc), and everything in between. The puzzle selection was good, and my wife added several to her collection, and picked up several more for her puzzling friend. A good stop for those that enjoy picking. read more

This place a insane. I remember when it was across the street and much smaller when I was a kid. It's in a huge building now and the aisles seem to go on forever. You can find some of the best gag gifts here. They also have furniture and a Christian book area. The merchandise changes all of the time. It's kind of like a flea market with only one vendor and no price haggling. You've seen the billboards along 90/94 in Indiana for this place. I was somewhat in the vicinity so I veered by here and was kind of disappointed. It is essentially a giant discount store in the middle of nowhere. Bottom line: the assortment and prices were what you find in most discount stores. They have a big selection of kitchen cabinets and recliners if you need them. I love coming to this store because it is a huge warehouse of discounted items. I go to Indiana University and I was able to find cups, bowls, hats, and plates that were very cheap for licensed products. They have a huge parking lot at this location which gives you an available parking spot even when they are busy. They have everything from furniture to food at this place. However, sometimes you have to watch the dates of food to make sure it isn't expired. If you are a bargain shopper I recommend checking this place out. read more

This place buys other companies castaways, rejects, and overstock items for pennies on the dollar and they sit there until they are sold. Love this place. Just wish it wasn't so far away from everywhere! The prices are truly shocking at how low they are and you will be surprised at what you "need" once you start looking around. I was there a few weeks before thanksgiving and they had huge 6 pound plastic jars of ocean spray cranberry sauce for 99¢ each. You can't even buy one 7 ounce can for that unless it's a good sale somewhere. I bought two cases (12 vats) and gave them to everyone I know. They also had bottles of mustard 3/$1, assorted bags of chips and pop corn 2/$1, men's washable wool socks for 99¢ a pair (that I later saw at Marshall's for $6 a pair). A set of three Pyrex glass baking dishes (9x13, 8x10 & 8x8) for $9.99. They also had the huge bags of all natural, no filler, dog food for $14.99. They have all sorts of household stuff, foods, pet food, books, games, clothing, furniture, cookware, tools. . . We had gone out there because my friend was remodeling a bathroom and she found a really nice Koehler porcelain pedestal sink for $50!!! Brand spankin' new, just in a really dusty box. This place is the bomb! I'd be out there every week if it wasn't two hours away from Chicago. But when I do go, I always ask around amongst my friends to see who wants to go and what everyone wants me to look for for them. After all what kind of friend would I be? The only real negative is that inside the building there is NO CELL PHONE RECEPTION at all and they don't have Wifi to make up for it. So you see something that would be perfect for someone but you can't call or text them without having to go outside. Plus they aren't open on Sundays and if you're like me you only get the weekends off to go on adventures like this. This was the most surreal shopping experience of my entire life. I took my cart down the aisles with a state of utter bemusement. I found all sorts of interesting things, from a giant can of ravioli, to some cookware I needed, to some bulletin board kits for my classroom. Oh, and the funniest cat toy ever. I've been coming to this store for decades... in fact, I started going to it when it was in the building across the street. The store has four main sections: on south side has kitchen cabinets, the east side has furniture, the north side has appliances, and the center section has everything else: tools; dishware and other kitchen items; canned food; books; clothing; and practically anything else you can think of. I particularly enjoy the tools, and have found tools that I have never seen anywhere else. On my last trip I got a couple packs of Christmas tree lights (100 lights for $2.49), some brake fluid, and a couple other items. read more

On a Saturday they were too busy to speak to us about buying new quartz counter tops so I left my information for a call back. 2 weeks later they called and I gave them dimensions after which they emailed a quote. We went there again that day (this is at least a 50 mile drive each way) to pick out the material and place an order. Bill was the guy we got stuck with and he was more confusing than anything else and he couldn't wait to go back to his desk and sit. We walked out. I sent an admittedly nasty email to them when I got home. Among other things I mentioned that I won't be back. Much to my surprise I received a reply from the owner, Matt Bailey but it was not what I expected. He wrote that it's a good idea for me to "never set foot inside my store again". My wife and I ordered over $2500 worth of bathroom cabinets and counter top from this store in January. We paid in full on 1/12/19. We were told that they would be ready for pick up the first week of February. When that time came I called the week after to find out if they were there. We were told they wouldn't be in until the last week of February. I started asking questions. They never placed the order until 1/22/19. When the end of February rolled around I was contacted that they had come in but were the wrong color. They re-ordered the cabinets and had them in about 10 days later. But of coarse one of the cabinets came hinged wrong. Their fix for this problems was to flip the door around and put the hinges on the other side. When we opened the granite counter top it had a crack in it. Just one problem after another. After the first mess-up happened we worked with Jeremy and we negotiated a 20% discount. I just got off the phone with him again, and now he is very stand offish and not really willing to work with me on the other problems that have been found, short of flipping the cabinet door or repairing the granite... Stay away from this store unless you have an additional 8 weeks to get your project done to work through all their mistakes. You also better try and find a second retailer that can get you what you need when they stop working with you to fix their mistakes. read more

The other day I was trying to prop a door open with a warped wooden wedge, and it just wasn't working. I really needed a new doorstop. I thought to myself "Gee, I really wish Bailey's was closer, they would have doorstops there." Bailey's is the home of random crap; like doorstops, tractor seats, ugly 70s home furnishings, questionable foodstuffs, a veritable supply of things you'd never need, and a Dairy Queen that has no idea how to make a Chicago style hot dog (even though their menu begs to differ.) I do love this place, regardless of its flaws. For my south-side brethen, it's just like Continental Sales, only on steroids. If you happen to find yourself in this area where Jesus lost his sandals, (sorry Indiana peeps, but you gotta admit it's in the middle of bumblefuck nowhere,) stop by and browse this warehouse of sheer randomness. You can easily kill a couple hours meandering, and possibly even buy a few things. Prices are supremely low, but I would stay far away from anything ingestible. read more

Here's what caught my eye: Thick, quality-looking matching kitchen towels and oven mitts for $1.99 each. Beautiful white linen-look floral pattern sheer curtain set for about $10. Many pairs of comfy and sturdy Golden Toe socks for a song. A cool Tuscan red runner with rubber back that'll look great on my balcony for $7.99. Jos. A. Bank men's suit jackets for about 20 dollars! Quirky decorating items like a box of faux-wooden interconnecting "tiles" to cover your deck for about $18 (covers 12 square feet). Don't expect a luxury shopping experience. Bailey's has more of a flea-market vibe. And there isn't anywhere to eat lunch there that I saw, so you might want to eat before you go. The roadtrip there is part of the charm: lush, green Indiana cornfields, hills and vales ... the America that most of us don't see anymore. Enjoy that as you drive! I have been going to baileys since i was BORN! Im a huge fan of everything except the customer service back by the cabinets and countertops. I went in last week to purchase countertops to find 4 workers (all busy at the time) so i sat down on the bar stool just a few feet away from all of there desks with 4-5 brochures for different materials and a few samples... In front of me was a sign in sheet which had no space left and all but the last name on the list was crossed off. After 20 minutes of waiting three of the workers finished what they were doing on there computers and literally took off as fast as they could! Just LEAVING me there! The fourth worker then ran over to a woman walking by to ask her if she needed help with anything! She did not but that didnt stop the employee from ranting on and on about her pregnancy! Finally i called my mother who just happened to be with me and asked her to come over. (thinking maybe this girl thinks im much younger than i am and couldnt possibly have thousands of dollars just waiting to be spent!) As soon as my mother came over so did the employee. She immediately grabbed the sign in sheet and asked me in an annoyed voice if i was on it. I told her no theres no room for any more names. She then told me that there is someone in front of me. I responded to her that ive been sitting here a half hour and that there is no one in front of me. I finally got to ask for a quote which she claimed she couldnt give me! I was told my measurements had to be sent in and she would call me in a few days with the quote. I left baileys empty handed and pretty pissed off. I then went into the DQ (where the workers redeemed my monthly baileys adventure) to find the workers that had taken off and ignored me sitting and chatting on her phone. I sat at the table next to her and complained to my mother about how rude they were in the back and still got ignored... Figures! Finally when i got my quote it was only for one counter product in the one color choice! I asked for the rest and was told ide have to wait a few more days. I dont care how pregnant you are. Im currently 5 months pregnant. Its no excuse to be stupid! Either way the quote was over 900 for just the one slab i needed of solid surface counters! Menards quoted me for 300 for solid surface and 500 for QUARTZ for the same exact slab size and i need two! Ill give my thousand dollars to menards (who had a price quote for me in MINUTES).
