We came up here from Plattsburgh to pick up a puppy and our AC went out on the way!! It was a super hot day and too hot for the puppy to be in the car for an hour ride home. After trying 3 spots these guys were our last option. He got us in right away and found the problem being a dirty filter that popped a cap off. We highly reccomend!! Thanks so much!! read more

Ridiculously overpriced. Charged $96 for an oil change (not full synthetic, normal oil change). When I questioned the price the shop owner tore up the bill in front of me and told me to take my business elsewhere. I still paid of course, but will be taking his advice and never returning. Don't go here unless you want to pay through the roof and deal with a temperamental mechanic. read more

Charlie bought the Sunoco from Jay back in October after working there for 15+ years. I have to say that Charlie seems like a top notch guy. He did emergency work on my RV and did for a very reasonable price. It's nice to bump into honest mechanics when you need them. I see people whining about the price of gas. Welcome to NY! Jay is an institution in Ti. Took great care of my father's vehicles, now a big help to me. His guys are the best. Recently towed my dead Pilot from Hague, diagnosed the problem, ordered parts, and worked religiously on the car. Not only did Charlie & John get the car running again, it's running like a top. Idles beautifully, and runs smoothly and efficiently. I had a big bill, but not as large as I had anticipated. This establishment refused to pump my boyfriends gas, so we took our business to Maplefields who has been really great to us, whether it has been getting gas, food, or just a huge cheap soda. Jay's is really expensive, and they did extra work on our truck than we originally asked for, which made the price of work skyrocket far more than we could really afford. Overall, we will NOT be going to Jay's for gas or vehicle maintenance again. We will GLADLY take our money and business elsewhere. Thanks for nothing besides the trouble, you gas pump attendants are PAID to pump the damn gas, so don't come up to someone else and tell THEM to get out and pump their own gas too. Just because someone "works" through the school as a volunteer with work coaching, doesn't mean they get paid too like you guys. read more

Similar situation as the post above - I was on vacation and my wheel felt like it was going to fall off one day. Jay had someone take a look at it right in the parking lot for me - jacked it up, took the lug nuts off with his hand and noticed the bolt was broken. Charged me $15 so I gave him $20. Even though it didn't require any real work, he could have had me come back later in the day or the next day, even, and charged me for putting the car on the lift. Seeing how this was an error made by the last garage that worked on my car, Jay wrote up everything that was wrong on a receipt for me and left his phone number in case the mechanic wants to call him. Just a real nice, honest guy! Saved my vacation because I would not have been able to drive back to Albany otherwise! read more

On July 23, 2015 my family and I were traveling to Willsboro NY to stay with some friends at their home on Lake Champlain. We just stopped at the 4 way stop intersection in Ticonderoga and our vehicle began to make a whining noise. I proceed straight on Route 22 into Ticonderoga and stopped at the first gas station. I popped the hood and noticed my power steering reservoir was empty. I looked under the car and found a power steering line had a hole in it. I was lucky in that across the road was Advance Auto parts store. I went into Advance Auto and purchased some fluid and asked where an auto repair shop in town is. The parts person at Advance Auto recommended Jay's and provide me with directions. I filled the reservoir and proceeded to Jay's. Once I arrived at Jay's they were extremely busy. I approached one of the mechanics and asked him if he could take a look it at, which he did. Once I showed him the leak and thought it would be a relatively easy job. He asked Jay the owner if they could do the work and at first they really did not have the time, but once I explained my situation (I was about 1.5hrs from home and 1hr away from my destination) he allowed the mechanic to get it in right away. The fixed the car in less than an hour and only charged me $40. I gave them $50 and tipped the mechanic $20. I can honestly say these repair shop and straight and honest place to bring your car if you need a repair. If I lived closer I would bring my vehicles for service. Some places would have exploited my situation, but not this place. Fair, honest and polite I could not have had a better experience. I refer to it as my best bad luck experience. If I had been an hour later or +/- 10 miles of Ticonderoga it could have been a real inconvenience. Needless to say we had an awesome weekend on the Lake Champlain and it all started at Jay's, Thank you Jay and your staff. read more
