Dr Brian goes over everything at the first few appointments, gives you a map of your treatment plan, and honestly sets you so at ease. It doesn't happen quickly, it takes time getting back to normal; but changes have been dramatic. I was living with constant pain. My pain levels are drastically lower. Walking, just walking was difficult, and over the course of my treatments my walking is so much more stabilized. I'm moving easier, my endurance is stronger. My perception was that chiropractors were a sort of temporary fix rather than a solution. Dr. Word has changed that! After several months of working from home, I was so stiff I couldn't stretch one muscle group without pulling another. I finally decided to try this whole chiropractor thing and all I can say is, "wow, I was wrong". Dr. Word obviously sees his role as understanding the root of aches and pains and giving people the tools to really feel better; he is clearly sincerely invested in the well being of his clients. I felt like a new person after that first visit, but even more importantly, I've been able to take action at home under Dr. Word's guidance to actually solve issues, not just temporarily relieve them. I'll definitely continue to see Dr. Word for regular maintenance now that I see the value, but I feel empowered to set that schedule based on how I'm feeling and find that I'm able to go more time (rather than less) between visits as I make progress. I am very pleased with my recent experience at Elevate…read more Jason was very attentive as I explained my range-of-motion challenges. Using a deep tissue massage-like therapy called active release technique, he worked through tight affected areas breaking down adhesions. This part of the visit lasted about thirty minutes, at which time I was seen by a PT (after having consulted with Jason) who customized an exercise program to help me re-build strength, improve range-of-motion, etc. We went through a series of exercises, always adjusting for proper form. (After the visit the office sends an email with the exercises in short video format to help you remember). Each visit built on the previous exercises. In total, I had about 6-8 visits. Elevate consists of a team of knowledgeable and caring professionals, in a space that is warm and inviting. I have been to other PT offices in the past that have been adequate and satisfactory. Elevate is co-ordinated and streamlined and made for a seamless experience, leading to, in my case, a speedy recovery. I highly recommend.

I had the bad luck of getting a severe lower back/hip sprain on a weekend, resulting from…read moreunderlying stress silently building up. It was a Saturday, I was new in Bainbridge and did not know where to look. I turned to Yelp and saw positive reviews and called the phone number. By chance, Dr. Petheram was in the office to catch up on paperwork. Luckily for me, he told me to come in to the office and he would have a look. From the first appointment he listened to my concerns, and used a restrained, minimalistic treatment approach. Immediately he worked on loosening up my seized-up, tight, sprain. He has a back stretcher machine that allows the body to be gently mechanically stretched particularly the lumbar (lower) back. He also uses a vibrator to stimulate muscles. He uses a little focussed hammer tool to help with spine alignment. There is very gentle spinal manipulation only as needed. Dr. Petheram is certified in using a laser which greatly reduces inflammation through photo-bio response at the cellular level. Laser was helping me to feel less stiff almost right away. Finally he is certified in "taping" using rock tape. This "tape" technique helps lift the skin over the concerned area, to encourage blood circulation underneath the skin and promotes healing. Within 3 times of going I felt I was really doing much better. Most of all I really appreciated the capable, expert approach, the holistic understanding, and the experienced care I got. You cannot go wrong with Dr. Petheram's expertise. He is a real healer and his kind manner is wonderful. Later on when I had a torn meniscus, I returned to him and he has been supporting my recovery because he would offer solutions for promoting body healing that the orthopedic surgeon simply does not have.
