I needed to schedule a Mohs Surgery and couldn't get them to call me back within a reasonable timeframe. Everytime I called there was no one to pick up the phone and I wouldn't receive a call back for 48 hours. When I was called back I was unfortunately unable to answer (perils of the pilot profession- no phone access in flight) which would reset another 48 hours of waiting for a callback the next time I attempted to call them. I eventually had my pathology sent to Polyclinic in Seattle and scheduled the surgery on the first call (Polyclinic will answer your call).

Apparently, there is a major shortage of dermatologists in the area, because I could not get an appointment with anyone in a 50 mile radius, despite calling at least 20 clinics and doctors. I was near tears when I called the Peninsula Skin clinic with Dr. Rasmussen, and found out that they, like everyone else, have a long waiting list. Melissa at the front desk must have heard the desperation in my voice, because she worked with me to find a solution and a time to come in. After my calling all those clinics, she was the first person who showed some concern and empathy. This caring attitude was present with all the staff during my appointment. The person who actually treated me was a Physician's assistant, Bill Bies. He understood that I needed prompt treatment to address all possible issues, along with taking samples and setting up a follow up appointment. After struggling with this infection for so long, it was a relief to find competent and professional care combined with empathy.

I went with Allegra who was a darling from the minute I stepped into Dermaspace. Any worries or fears quickly drifted off given the dim lighting, chill music and zen ambiance. Allegra had a sweet personality, explained the entire process from start to finish, was knowledgeable about anything related to skincare and health, and most importantly, gentle. The facial was around an hour and fifteen minutes, including a discussion of my skin concerns, allergies, goals, etc. It consisted of roughly four total steps: 1) Gentle facial cleansing and exfoliation 2) Moisturization and detoxification using yucca soaked cloth within a volcanic heated cone 3) Deep cleaning of my entire face, clearing out any and all clogged pores 4) Ionization facial wrap of nourishing cotton with a leather mask connected to low voltage electrical current in order to ionize the solution. The doctor I previously saw had left Westside Dermatology (in retrospect I can only assume it was to get away from Artnzen). When she walked in the room she didn't even look at my face and at no point even bothered to examine my face. She came in and just arrogantly announced "It's Rosacea." (a misdiagnosis from years before) and then argued with me about how she'd "been doing this for 34 years and she just knows." Welp, she doesn't fucking know. She then proceeded to tell me that there were alternative treatments which I explained have never worked. I had to wait 3 weeks for this appointment to occur in the middle of when I should be asleep for my graveyard shift and this woman wants to argue with me over 100 doxycycline. During this conversation I bring up a potentially permanent solution suggested by my first doctor - this doctor who gets me in my pajamas and raincoat because it's basically the middle of the night for me and raining says "ohh, I wouldn't suggest that treatment, it could expose you to hepatitis." I couldn't for the life of me understand why a skin treatment would expose me to Hep-C. I finally get home and take a nap before my shift and wake up realizing, not only did this shitty arrogant argumentative asshole misdiagnose me without even bothering to look, she *ALSO* accused me of being a fucking heroin junkie! I'm a very tired overworked operations engineer being accused by this self-righteous ignorant judgmental incompetent fool of a doctor of being a drug addled needle user. I then wait an hour in the Costco pharmacy line to receive a prescription for only 30 pills when the prescription was for 100. 100 would last me over a year. Now i get to waste my time 3 times this year and pay more money for a prescription I have been getting for years. She never bothered to look at my medical history, or my file, couldn't be bothered to even examine my skin -- the whole point of forcing me to come in for this appointment -- misdiagnoses not only my skin issues, but then argues about my treatment and then low key accuses me of being a heroin junkie. This was my first time getting RF microneedling (Morpheus) and laser resurfacing (Erbium), so I was a bit nervous going in. Well, that didn't last long. Melissa was WONDERFUL! Her warm and nurturing personality put me right at ease. She was so caring and meticulous in preparing my skin for both treatments that I had very little discomfort during the entire process, and my skin healed beautifully. It's only been a couple of weeks, but I already see a huge difference in my 60 YO skin. The texture is smoother, my pore size has diminished, and any hyperpigmentation I had is significantly lighter.
