There are water stains all over the ceilings. The walls are cracked due to foundation issues. Our room had cobwebs. The beds are so uncomfortable you can feel each spring. The worst part for me was the black mold all over the bathroom walls. I even found a live roach which I was accused of bring because they said "we don't have roaches". Interesting since the entire inn was full. Then i was told it was a grasshopper. I attached a photo, don't worry. So you can decide. Lastly, we can't eat in the room. So we went downstairs to eat in the dining room. Tessa said no you can't eat here. Go outside. So we ate outside like dogs. Don't stay here

We booked the Little Room which is actually next to the main house. They told us up front that cell phone reception was spotty, and they were right, but they do offer wi-fi. Our room felt a little musty at first but we turned on the AC until nighttime when the air was quite cool and comfortable. We enjoyed our relaxing stay and sat on our porch during some summer storms. In the evening, we had some complimentary tea and brownies and rocked in the chairs outside the main house. One evening we even heard bagpipes playing (must have been practicing for the Highland Games). Breakfast was delicious both days. There are no TVs in the rooms, which was fine with us. Even though the inn is on a remote country road, we were still surprised to hear cars and trucks go by throughout the night.

With that, my stay at The Perry House Bed and Breakfast shoots to the top of my list of memories! Make some tea--this will be long! I've never stayed at a BnB before. My daughter and I do an annual daddy/daughter trip and we tried this area before in a cabin rental. Fun, for sure but the Perry House took things to a different level. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by Robin and Mike and they're just so darn nice, I want them to be my North Carolina parents! Robin gave us the lay of the land and our rooms and it was time to settle in for 4 nights. The rooms are cozy and comfy with each having their own bathroom. The house itself is gorgeous, especially at Christmastime. There's a TV in the living room, kitchen in the back, and snacks around. You can explore the highlands, or just sit in your PJs watching TV or reading. Breakfast was served daily and did not disappoint! Sitting around family style with others was fantastic. Which, that is another fun aspect of a real BnB--we met 3 or 4 different couples and they were all the warmest people. Sharing stories, sharing our lives, sharing things to do--this is the real deal. I mentioned to my mom that this, at least the entrance, reminded me of Newhart, if you're old enough to remember. Our capstone was celebrating New Years 2023 with Robin, Mike, and the guests! It'll definitely be one for the memory book! The Perry House is mountain hospitality, Americana, beauty, and history all rolled into one. If you're visiting Banner Elk, you owe it to yourself to stay at least a night and make memories!

On arrival 11/8 Hope and Sophie greeted us with an engaging tour of Lovill House Inn and it's history. My husband and I rented the on-site cabin with my sister and her spouse for 4 nights. The cabin was spacious and refreshingly clean and well appointed, including glass water bottles in bedrooms replenished as needed. We enjoyed the cabin's fireplace each evening. The breakfast offerings each morning were generous and delicious, presented beautifully. And that's an understatement. Shirred eggs, the best eggs I've ever eaten (recipes available). Any dietary requests were met quickly. The grounds are beautiful, with the newly renovated barn available for special occasions. A path to a nearby waterfall is on the grounds. The sustainable commitments made at he Lovill House Inn are impressive. This includes the solar panel installations with Tesla battery support; the no-plastics policy; commitment to healthful food options, with some flavourful ingredients grown on site. The staff managed so well by Allison (also and on-site chef) were thoughtful and knowledgeable providing a truly special experience for guests. I recommend Lovill House Inn as the finest in the area.

We were originally supposed to stay in the Azalea room, but moved to the White Crow suite to have some extra space. I was able to see the Azalea room and took some pictures of it for reference. The white crow suite is upstairs in the main house and is a large room with a big bathroom and massive walk in closet. There is a small table and 2 chairs in the room and that was very nice for us to have a place to work for one of the days during our stay. The fireplace was also really nice to have as well. The breakfast each morning was very good and I enjoyed being able to easily walk downstairs for some coffee/tea in the mornings. There is a refrigerator in the room and that was nice for us to be able to have morning mimosas. Out back there is a seating area and a small fire pit. It was nice to sit out there when the weather was warm enough during the day. The location of the B&B can't be beat. Everything in Banner Elk is within walking distance of the B&B. It was also nice that they give you a coupon for a free glass or flight of wine at the Banner Elk Winery. I would definitely stay here again if I were visiting the area.

The fire alarm beeped every minute from 3:15 am until someone answered the phone around 7:30 am. Instead of apologizing to me about the terrible night I just had, she told me my Dog wasn't allowed in the Inn and that I owed $50 for having a dog in my room (I had already paid $265 for 1 night). I will never stay there again!

Each bedroom in the two story lodge has a feeling of privacy as well as a unique ambiance. Anne has gone to great lengths to make every room unusual and to make every guest feel special. One feels relaxed and at ease as soon as one enter the front door of the Lodge. This was my third trip to Carolina Mountain Lodge, and I look forward to many more. I love waking up to the cool mountain breeze and the smell of freshly brewed coffee and breakfasting on fresh eggs from Anne's happy chickens. I enjoy exploring the quaint mountains towns and seeing the panoramic views from the mountain top. I love having cocktails at dusk on Anne's tranquil patio and sleeping peacefully in a big, comfy bed. I highly recommend Carolina Mountains Lodge in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains as a vacation destination.
