On a recent trip to North Carolina, I stayed here and wasn't sure what to expect because it was small and new. Many times, new businesses aren't up to the standards of well-established places, but not true with Banner Haven. It was 5-star service with beautiful grounds and a spectacular property. We napped in the Garden Room one afternoon while listening to the sounds of the water garden through an open window, we enjoyed the cool breezes and the views off the back deck, we had a complimentary cup of herbal tea with honey each night before bed, and we slept like the dead on the comfortable, luxury sheets each night. The breakfasts were delicious, the views divine, the entire experience was top notch and I can't wait to go back! The hosts were helpful, friendly, and accessible. They know what they're doing and they make the place a nice little mountain oasis for their guests. Don't hesitate, just book it!

The Hidden B&B Gem in Banner Elk (Boone Area), with river access!!!…read more There seems to be a lot of nice places in the area, but this place raises the bar and hits all the marks (and then some), and is close to restaurants and other amenities. We stayed in the Rainbow Trout Room, which was very roomy and the shower and bath was available that of a suite, and the area and river setting is just wonderful and breathtaking. The lodge itself is an architectural wonder, with wooden etched sayings throughout like "Come in as strangers leave as friends", and I felt this is exactly what happened between the hostess (Bobbie), and the owner (Ray), who were very hospitable. Bobbie recommended the Grandfather Mountain excursion (which we got a discount), and let me tell you, this should be on peoples bucket list, especially seeing and walking the mile high bridge and plus the many other amenities. We then ate dinner at the Artisanal Restaurant (which hit every mark as well), then came back to the lodge and lit up the outside fire-pit and drank wine, with the sunset and to the relaxing sound of the flowing river. Anglers beware, they allow you too fish here too, but the unexperienced can book a 4hr fly-fishing lesson through the lodge as well. I just got my little spinner and caught about 16 brownies in a hour-and-a-half. They do stock it with rainbow trout. It is catch and release, but was just added fun to the trip. My wife enjoyed, the complimentary wine and charcuterie at 5, but as well there was a lounge area (big area) attached to our room that had full kitchen, that was stock full of drinks (complimentary as well). With great turn-down service, waking up to an awesome homemade breakfast in the morning wasn't that bad either, lol... If your looking to stay for a huge family trip, business trip, just a getaway or like us for our anniversary, this place is the spot and they will make sure you have a great time for any accommodations. On arrival 11/8 Hope and Sophie greeted us with an engaging tour of Lovill House Inn and it's history. My husband and I rented the on-site cabin with my sister and her spouse for 4 nights. The cabin was spacious and refreshingly clean and well appointed, including glass water bottles in bedrooms replenished as needed. We enjoyed the cabin's fireplace each evening. The breakfast offerings each morning were generous and delicious, presented beautifully. And that's an understatement. Shirred eggs, the best eggs I've ever eaten (recipes available). Any dietary requests were met quickly. The grounds are beautiful, with the newly renovated barn available for special occasions. A path to a nearby waterfall is on the grounds. The sustainable commitments made at he Lovill House Inn are impressive. This includes the solar panel installations with Tesla battery support; the no-plastics policy; commitment to healthful food options, with some flavourful ingredients grown on site. The staff managed so well by Allison (also and on-site chef) were thoughtful and knowledgeable providing a truly special experience for guests. I recommend Lovill House Inn as the finest in the area.
