What did I eat? This tastes like baby food. It is so mashed up. Just look at my picture, you can decide. Two dishes were mush too. They pureed it too much. I can barely taste the ingredients, it all blended together. I had 3 of the chef's specials. For the appetizer, the octopus tartare was okay. It tasted like it had too much mayo. I can't taste any kimchi and pickles in it. The 2 main dishes. The bras-style cod with exploding olives. There were a total of 3 olives. Wow, I didn't know olives were expensive. The "must try" Shrimp Acorda had whole pieces of shrimp. Everything else is mystery mush. The restaurant had a cool hidden minibar / speakeasy behind a secret green shelf. It passes the vibe check. But for food, this was just hype. I agree with the other reviews, it's a tourist trap.

Came here for lunch to celebrate my friends birthday. Reservations were pretty easy to make online and we were seated immediately. Service was good, but the food took forever to arrive. It was worth the wait tho, as the seafood rice and the octopus were both really good. The citrus in the seafood rice was a little too strong initially, but as the dish cooled, it worked really well and we started enjoying it a lot more. They also offered us a small dessert on the house upon learning that it's my friends birthday. Overall, prices are on the high side but at least the food was good!

It was our last night in Lisbon and my husband wanted to go to a special place. Famous Portuguese chef Jose Avillez created this neighborhood with 5 of his restaurants under one roof. Pateo was named Best Seafood in Lisbon. IMO.. NOT EVEN CLOSE! They act like they are, tourists flock here, sip wine, and pretend they understand food. I walked into an empty restaurant at 7:00 and was told all the tables were reserved but if we were patient, We would be seated. I tried to make a reservation but the internet was too slow. What the host should have said was... I'm sorry, there are 4 other restaurants here, you should find another. Sat at the bar for an hour and a half and you couldn't order any food or appetizers... just drinks. Finally got a table and was less than impressed. Shrimp Acorda- menu listed it as a Must- Try Portuguese dish. It had shrimp and other ingredients... but honestly, when the waitress opened the lid of the pot on the table, we didn't know what to think. Look at the photo and you decide. My husband said it was ok, but I tasted it and it had way too much coriander and bread. Chargrilled Squid on Black rice was very good and that's the only good thing I can say about this restaurant. If you want a tourist trap ... here it is. With so many good restaurants in Lisbon... don't waste your time here, there is so much better.

A lively seafood restaurant in the center of Lisbon from the same team that runs the world famous Belcanto. The food and service are excellent and the lively ambiance adds to the experience. Remember to ask for their selection of gelato, it is not on the menu.

This restaurant is delightful! It is located inside of another restaurant and is also connected to a bar and a pizzeria! When stepping into Páteo, it feels like you're stepping into an outdoor courtyard. There are windows and doors on the wall; there is even a street sign with the name of the famous chef who owns all 4 restaurants, Bairro do Avillez. The service was excellent and the food was very good! We ordered : Duck leg cured and confit Chargrilled squid with black rice Chicken Piri Piri

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Decor & Style: 5/5 This building has many restaurants in one. Pateo is the restaurant we chose. Taberna, Pizzaria Lisboa, and the Mini bar are the other 3 restaurants in the building. Make sure you tell the host up front which restaurant you are going into. Most places require a vaccination card as well. Amazing Tuna Tartare and Croquettes! We also ordered this dish called: PRAWN AÇORDA "MUST-TRY PORTUGUESE DISH: SHRIMP, BREAD, GARLIC, CORIANDER, RED CHILLI AND EGG YOLK COOKED AT LOW TEMPERATURE" which was very flavorful, but the taste was unique and something i've never had before. I don't have a picture of it because well, after mixing the egg and the prawn's it looks like brown paste so I didn't want to deter anyone from ordering it. It is recommend in my opinion just to get a taste of Portuguese cuisine! Amazing service, great environment and decor! Definitely a must place to try.

This food was phenomenal. We were so pleased with our meal here. Everything was so delicious. We might stop back in again before we leave Lisbon!

Braised tuna. Sad, gray, poor flavor on a barren plate.

Very disappointing. We ate in the Páteo section of the complex. My partner ordered the braised tuna (cooked rare) which came out as a sad piece of gray fish with bad texture lacking in flavor and seasoning with 4 sticks of fried "millet" French fries on an otherwise barren plate. No garnish, nothing to make the sad gray fish more appealing. It was so bad he had to send it back. I ordered the Scarlet shrimp, crab, and clams with rice dish. The seafood was over cooked and the dish was too salty and one dimensional. It was edible but very meh. Wine list is poor. The space is large, loud, and hectic. The decor feels 100% contrived. Lisbon has so many amazing restaurants for much better value. Absolutely skip this one. The service was average and they took the tuna off the bill. My sense is this place exists simply to take money from tourists using the heavily marketed Avillez brand name.

Table seating was by the front and along one wall with the rest at the bar that dominated the middle of the restaurant. Menu was almost the same with a great selection of seafood ranging from tacos, ceviche appetizers to pasta, fish and shellfish entrees with many Asian flavors. The Peruvian ceviche was very nice with thin slices of fish, radish and red onions. The corn nuts added a nice crunch. It also came with a small bowl of toasted crostini chips. The cuttlefish tacos were delicious.. Big chunks of cuttlefish topped with tomatoes and placed on a small tortilla with a white sauce. We actually ordered just one but comped a pair. Sea bass was the best with its crunchy pan fried skin side topped with nori and the moist fish went perfectly with the barley and miso sauce combination. Even the bok choy was cooked well. The squid ink pasta had a mild sauce but scallops were nicely seared. At the end the owner offered us a shot of ginja to try for our first time. It was sweet but at least lower in alcohol,16%. Another great meal and service even two years later. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting some seafood here in Lisbon.

The music selection immediately gave us a taste of home, with lively R&B playing in the background. The bar wasn't crowded, but there were enough guests enjoying food, drinks, and conversation to create a warm, energetic vibe. Our drinks arrived quickly, and the staff remained attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the evening. The service was honestly the highlight of our visit. The shrimp tacos were very fresh...perhaps a little too fresh for my preference. The shrimp had not been fully deveined, so I ended up cleaning them myself before eating. As someone who only eats deveined shrimp and fish, that was disappointing. The codfish entrée was an interesting experience. The cod itself was delicious and fried to perfection with a crisp exterior and flaky interior. Unfortunately, the wasabi mashed potatoes weren't a good match for my palate and overpowered the dish for me. My partner enjoyed the vegetables that accompanied his meal, but he found the sea bass somewhat underwhelming and not particularly memorable. For two people, including food and drinks, our bill came to about €89, which I felt was a moderate price for Lisbon. While the food experience wasn't the strongest part of our visit, Peixola is still a great place to relax, enjoy a drink, listen to good music, and spend time with friends or a partner. The outstanding staff and inviting atmosphere are what would bring me back, even though the food itself left us wanting a bit more.

We did not have any reservations and we're having difficulty being seated at restaurants but our party of 5 was very lucky that there happened to be a cancellation for a larger party. The service was excellent and I really enjoyed the vibe and ambiance. It was a very modern ambiance with some nods to the seafood theme of the restaurant. Our server was so fun and had great recommendations. For the small plates, we shared the tuna, scallop, burrata shrimp, mixed ceviche! We were told the mixed ceviche was the most popular. It was one of the most unique and favorite dishes and had sweet potato in it (such a great twist!). All the dishes were great but I also really enjoyed the combination of flavors and textures in the shrimp burrata and tuna dish. For big plates, we had the octopus and the golden rice. Both were very unique dishes. I loved how rich and creamy the risotto was in the golden rice and enjoyed the crunch of the fried chickpeas with the octopus dish. The wine selection was also great! We had three different bottles from varying Portugal regions. Definitely would return in a future visit!

When you find Estrela Da Bica, it is on a side street right off of the steep street with the trolley that is famous. There was a small open door with a sign asking us to wait outside to be seated (so as not to crowd the restaurant). Make sure to follow these instructions, as my family and I watched some other unaware tourists walk straight in, grab a menu, and promptly get asked to go wait outside. After a minute or two, we were seated by one of the staff (possibly the owner?). The staff was all women, and they seemed very proud of their restaurant. The decor was quirky and very homey, with various mismatched tables and chairs. We were informed that the food is all meant to be shareable plates, and we started off by just getting some sourdough bread with dips. There were multiple different kinds of bread and the dips kept them interesting, one being a fish spread. One of the appetizers caught my eye instantly, the roasted pork belly, banana mash, and pico de gallo. I usually like banana flavors mixed with savory (I've tried weird combinations like a peanut butter banana hamburger before) so I knew I had to try this. The outside of the pork belly was perfectly crunchy while the inside was tender. As I expected (but I would guess most people wouldn't), the banana mash complimented the rich savory flavors of the pork belly. For the mains, we ordered the pink marlin tataki with pineapple chutney, potato and rosemary sourdough pizzeta, roasted Hokkaido with butternut mash, dried nuts sand, and house kimchi, the confit codfish cheeks with poached egg and crispy chips, and the pork cheek ravioli with mustard sauce and buckwheat popcorn. They were all intriguing flavor combinations that I would never have thought of in my life!! What stood out to me was the confit codfish cheeks with poached egg and the crispy potato chips. We had tried other codfish dishes around Lisboa and had noticed that it was the most common fish there. But this combination was luscious, with the soft egg coating the fish and the chips adding a nice crunch to every bite. It was like a fish carbonara in a way with the poached egg providing a sauce. This was the standout dish to me, representing what Lisboa is all about while not being afraid to take risks. All of the other dishes were interesting too, and each left me with new ideas of combinations that I would have never thought of. After the dinner was so impressive, we were enticed by the dessert. We got the chocolate mousse and basque cheesecake with guava jam. These were Like I said, the staff seemed proud of their establishment and rightfully so. Estrella da Bica may be a small, simple, establishment, but they are not afraid to push the boundaries of gastronomy. This was the kind of restaurant that flies under the radar, but I consider myself lucky to have stumbled upon it.
