Oryx, a Michelin recognized in Tijuana, has an elevated vibe and excellent service. Our only gripe…read moreis that while we were there they were shooting some type of movie or promo that was very distracting and definitely took away from the elevated feel. The menu is split into hot and cold appetizers as well as mains. We split the portobello ceviche, Black taco and catch of the day. We most enjoyed the portobello ceviche that was doused in a tasty and addictive sauce. The fish of the day was a white fish and was cooked perfectly - flaky with a crispy crust. To finish was split the smores brownie with mousse and chocolate as well as the GF option of Roasted Strawberries, pink pepper and mint foam, with a yogurt meringue. We didn't love the dessert, but presentation (along with with presentation of every dish here) was beautiful.

This time, I chose Oryx as my food destination for my annual visit to the Motherland, and came away with an experience which rivals any restaurant I've ever been to. Straight Up. I've tried Mexican food in places most people couldn't locate on a map, including Ulaanbaatar and Addis Ababa, but what I had for dinner here in Tijuana, is on a whole 'nother level. From the attentive service to the friendly confines, and from the attention to details to the obviously outstanding food, Oryx delivers in ways few restaurants can. Each dish blew me away and by the end, I was preachin' that my dinner experience had cracked the Top-5 ever. Take notes and pay attention!

This is always a great sign. The manager, Ben, is awesome. He greeted us and added us to the waitlist. We were seated after 10mins of waiting in a great spot. Our favorite server, Nathan, is a lead now. We were seated in Matt's area and he was our server. Nathan came by to say hi and greet us, this is excellent customer service here. Matt was also great and customer service oriented and he took our order for table apps and drinks. The ambiance here is fun, family friendly, cool, and good vibes all around. They have a DJ some Saturdays. There are also very cool theme nights. Tonight was "Wing Wednesday". I posted a photo of the theme nights. For example, Thursday is Teachers 15% Discount Day and Karaoke. The walls, seating, and table decor is very nice. The design element here is wonderful. Our food: Bulgogi Fries App for the table starter, Fish and Chips, Chicken Katsu Plate, Side Order of Garlic Fried Rice, And 10 (4 Salted Pepper, 2 BBQ, 2 Sweet Chili, 2 Buffalo) of the $2 each wings. The food was great! The vibe is awesome, and the overall experience was great. We also got a chance to talk to Ben the Manager, Nathan the lead server, and Matt our server tonight. They all came to check on us to make sure that everything was going well in our dining experience. We HIGHLY recommend stopping here to enjoy a great dining experience.

The first time we went I ordered the garlic green beans which were actually no longer on the menu. They were quite tasty. I also ordered a side of fried chicken which was also good. The second time we went I got the chicken wings and the side ceaser salad. The wings were not crispy enough and there was zero flavor in the breading. The salad was boring. Hubby got the cobb salad which was a large portion but otherwise just ok. note that there is no outdoor seating so leave Fido home. Probably would not bother coming back here.

From the spooky, dark, skulls old school ambiance and decor, to the experience of not ordering from a menu, everything about it made it feel unique and curated making it feel like a true individualized experience. As mentioned, there are no menus. We sat at the bar, the bartender makes casual conversation with you regarding the types of drinks you enjoy. He curated something for both my husband and I based on what we shared we enjoyed. The drinks were delicious. The entry was very cool! It felt as if you were entering a hidden spot - which you do. When you enter the restaurant, you let the hostess know you're there for the Noble Experience. She let us know to head to the wall with the kegs (which is actually a door). You enter and there's a small waiting area where you're greeted by another hostess. This place is a 20/10. We can't wait to return on our next visit to SD.
