One of the most interesting spots in San Diego. On a given day, this friendly "neighborhood" restaurant gives such great vibes and good foods. Don't get me started on the Mac and cheese and burgers here! Especially the service, the staff here is so attentive and welcoming. Stopped by for a bite before going to a concert last week(party of 4). It was quite busy being mid week and in the middle of the afternoon due to a padres game ending early. Luckily we were seated quickly which seemed to be at the last table that was open so that was nice. We ordered a round of the caviar bump/mezcal shot. I thought that was good but considering how small the bump was as well as the shot was the price was not worth it(which we didn't realize until the check came). Anyways, service was pretty terrible minus the first round of shots we received. The blooming onion was a total bust. Not crispy but extra greasy because all of oil soaked up the onion at the bottom. Def do not recommend. The bolongnese and burger were good so I would get those again in the future if I ever come back. The bone marrow was a bit shady. Barely any marrow in one of the bones(maybe a quarter of the first bone we tried-order comes with 2 bones). The burratta was not the jam. Whatever it comes with did not pair well all together so a nahhh on that as well. Fries that came with the burger was good. Brussels were decent too. We also ordered a chicken sando that was basically forgotten until I mentioned it and even then we ate everything had another round of shots and it still did not come out. Instead of apologizing or asking if we wanted the sandwich still our server insisted it was stil comingl. At any other establishment they would have offered to cancel the order(bc really we didn't want it any more) or just comp the sandwich. Anyways... $300 later($168 of it was for a total of 6 half mezcal shots + teenie weenie bumps) we were full but felt kinda ripped off. read more

The restaurant is beautiful and has a trendy, moody atmosphere that makes it feel like a place you'd want to spend the evening. The aesthetic is definitely one of its biggest strengths. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. Our server took our order and dropped off our food, but that was pretty much the extent of our interaction. We weren't checked on after our meals arrived, our drinks weren't refilled, and it was difficult to get anyone's attention when we needed something. The food was also underwhelming. One thing that especially caught me off guard was the mac and cheese. The menu described it as having cheese crisps, but the "crisps" turned out to be Doritos, which wasn't what I expected based on the description. Overall, nothing we ordered really stood out or made me want to come back. We also tried three cocktails, and only one was a standout. The other two just didn't hit the mark. Overall, Neighborhood has a great atmosphere and is worth visiting if you're looking for a stylish setting, but I was hoping the food, drinks, and service would match the ambiance. First, the service is great, and the prices are even better. The atmosphere of the place is amazing, and everywhere you look is so aesthetically pleasing. The food is excellent, and I got the Bolognese pasta, which was an easy 10/10. The service was quick, less than 15 minutes. We went to the speakeasy, and oh my lanta, it was so chill. The waiters and bartender were very nice and took the time to explain the chemistry of the drinks. We booked the experience and mentioned that it was an anniversary celebration. This is a great place to grab a drink and a bite at the bar before a Padres game. If you're like me and not into the traditional pre-game bar food, this is a much appreciated elevated experience. Nice, somewhat throwback but classy vibe... definitely has that Consortium group look, which they are very good at. I've had a few different things from the menu here and enjoyed them all; most recently the Pierogis as well as the Young American burger and fries. Highly recommend as a 'neighborhood' bar to pop into if you're looking for a nice classy little spot with a unique feel, good food and a comfortable vibe that is in no way 'divey'. read more

I originally came to Neighborhood for a quick snack but ended up ordering the short rib, Brussels sprouts, sticky toffee pudding, & mocktail. The short rib was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. The Brussels sprouts were a bit on the bitter side, so I'd suggest maybe a little more glaze to balance them out. The sticky toffee pudding was good, though slightly overdone in my opinion. The decor is beautiful and the ambience is really welcoming. I loved that we were taken as walk-ins and they have a designated area to hang out until your name is called. We ended up grabbing seats at the bar instead of a table, and it was actually a great spot to enjoy the space. The service here is impeccable. I was just enjoying two cocktails and their girl dinner special having a great time when a woman who I assume is a regular sat next to me. She proceeded to harass me and call me a f*ggot several times, which while hilarious if I know you, is simply poor decorum amongst strangers. I alerted the bartender that I would like to be closed out because of my unpleasant experience. He proceeded to tell me that my check had been taken care of. Came here on a Friday night around 8 or 9 and it was packed! They have food till late which is a draw in the area. I was a little intimidated by the amount of people since it's a small space, but the bartenders and waitresses were super nice and completely unfazed by everyone making do with standing room only. Initially we were waiting to get into Noble Experiment, but a table opened up and we were content to stay there and get some small bites. I had the game day special since the Padres had just played. The hot dog was good! It came with a beer and this medicinal tasting shot/digestive which I did not like though haha. There's a good selection of beers for $8-10 and cocktails for $15. Walking in, Neighborhood is a fairly small and intimate space with a dark/moody vibe. There's no host stand/area marking where you should wait, and so after standing there for a second, someone came and mentioned that the bar is all open seating (first-come) and that for tables they wrote our name down and would call us back/or we could hang in the back area until a table opened up. Although we didn't have to wait too long, this initial set-up was a bit strange to say the least. The pierogies were a great starter! A lot of flavor from the sour cream and the potatoes. I really liked this one a lot. We also got the Bing Bread which is low-key one of the best things we had! For only $5 don't sleep on this. Airy, fluffy, doughy, it's hard to explain the texture. Maybe an airy pita-like pizza dough? Amazing and a must get. The hood burger was solid and I appreciated the cheese blend of bleu and gruyere. It gives it that extra funk that I don't typically go for but I still enjoyed. The bolognese was a classic home-cooked type of comfort that hit the spot. One other thing that I appreciated were the prices for the items we got. Considering this is a CH Project restaurant, our meal was definitely worth the price and would happily come back. read more

Really solid option in downtown San Diego! We came with a group of 4 on a Friday night at 7 and didn't have a wait but it quickly filled up shortly after. The space inside is definitely reminiscent of other CH restaurants but a darker, moodier vibe. A lot of people were walking through to go to the two speakeasies in the back too. They have mostly cocktails and beer for drinks. They do have single options for wine by the glass and a few more bottle options. For beer I was impressed that they had a few sour beer options! You definitely don't see those as much. For food we split the blooming onion and my partner and I got the chicken sandwich and the bean burger. The blooming Onion was pretty good! I like that it's more onion forward than onion rings. The sandwich and burger comes with fries which we weren't expecting. My partner loved his chicken sandwich and said it did come with some heat from the Nashville sauce. Why this place doesn't have 4.5-5 stars I can't tell you. It was an awesome experience. From the time we walked in to the time we were seated we had great service. The bartender was awesome as was our greater. The place is a bit dark just so you know. Now the food and drinks. In a word delicious. The wedge salad was really good as was the burger. The burger was small so prepare yourself. It's the size of a slider but delicious. The fries were also really good. The drinks were on point. The only complaint I would have would be the restrooms. It does all the things that you're looking for sweet salty umami. Chunky, juicy, and the sauce was amazing. The star of the night was the bing bread. I dont know what it is but it's the best type of bread I've had in a long time. It's like a sourdough fluffy pita. After I placed my order, the waiter asks for my card. I'm confused, but give it to him anyway. As the minutes go by and more people come in and place their orders. I noticed he doesn't ask anyone else for their cards beforehand. Only mine. After I was done eating, a different waiter came by and handed me my check. I asked him for my card back and he looked genuinely confused like it was abnormal for someone else to have my card The original waiter comes by and pulls my card out of his pocket. Great hidden spot. If you like Lafayette then you'll love this place. The Mac and cheese is great, the crispy potatoes are a required appetizer, cocktails are always on point, burgers are amazing as well. We're always greeted with a smile when we enter, even when we entered through the exit by accident! The scenery is so beautiful too on the inside, very low lit, a nice variety of music in the background, and the decor fits the vibe. They even have NASA-grade toilets in the bathroom. Great place for a quick bite and cocktails. Blooming onion was delicious!! Burgers are a good size. Love the French 75! Made me feel rich and bougee! On the corner felt like it wasn't really there. The bathroom has a bidet! Wish I needed to go but I didn't. Something also felt off.. not in a bad way but kinda like I was missing something. After we left I was told there's a speakeasy.
