Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Happy colors and illustrations on the wall. Very inviting and most importantly CLEAN! Everywhere is clean and well manicured. Dirty dishes are picked up promptly. Servers are on top of their game. Menu is fun, easy to read and has plenty of options. I've been coming here for years. They've always had fresh ingredients (no brown guac-- hate that!!) and well plated meal. I had taquitos and my partner had some type of chicken plate. Honestly, the plate looked even better than the photos. I can never finish a meal and I made the stretch to make sure to finish mine. My shrimp was cook rock solid, and my burrito was sitting in the worst sauce... It was literally swimming in the sauce. This is a simple American-style Mexican place. They cater to the locals-- food isnt spicy, and it has been a bit Americanized, but as a Mexican, there is authenticity there. They salsa is fresh and amazing. Horchata is on point. My american style tacos were great. They have other dishes that usual only Mexican people order, which I am vwry eager to try (I was just dying for tacos a la americano that day). I very much enjoy that they offer pintos as a side, and the menu is vast. It is very clean, fresh, warm and portions are good. I was very pleased. We needed more napkins while eating but nobody in sight so we had to ask the guy working at the front desk. The kid only brought one napkin. Really? This was our go-to for "decent" Mexican in the Olympic Peninsula. The street tacos were good for what it was, as well as their salsa. It was decently priced for the amount of food you get. Baja Cantina was the perfect lunch spot after a visit to Costco. There were tons of seats filled with local patrons in the main dining room. I sat at the bar and was greeted and served quickly by the bartender. I sipped on my 'Rita until my sampler platter came out. I've always enjoyed the food hot plates and meals. Welcoming atmosphere and staff. But it's prices have gone up substantially , be prepared to spend a bit more. I love the wet burritos , the rice and beans are always on point which really says a lot and you can go wrong with the Chile relleno. Wish this place had some lengua and horchatas. read more

Holy cow, BAD experience! Our margaritas were absurdly acidic and bitter. Instead of, "oh I'm sorry" she argued and brought us orange juice and then a little triple sec. No, that didn't work. With apologies, we asked her to get new drinks...better but pretty still twangy. We drank em but they were barely passable. Food was average to poor. We've dined here before and frankly, something significant has changed. Adding insult to injury, she tried to charge us for the crappy first drinks and the triple sec along with replacements!! 2022: We were served two margaritas that were so sour they were undrinkable . so they were mostly gracious about us sending them back and getting others. The replacements were better, but nothing to write home about. The friend I was with said that they do have their good days, so in 2023 I tried again. 2023: There were a number of cars in the parking lot, so I thought well maybe it's improved. Nope. The food was awful, and very bland. They don't seem to believe in cheese, or any kind of spices, other than maybe cumin. The salsa was a bunch of large cut up tomatoes, in something that seemed like tomato juice - and maybe a little onion. It was pretty bad. The service was indifferent. In 2022, I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it's hard to find staff. But there's really no reason to return here. The reason I give them two stars instead of one or zero is that I have reviewed a couple of really disgusting places in my life. Places where you don't even dare to eat the food because the sanitation looks so bad, flies everywhere, etc. so, I have standards for bad. And really bad. This is not quite like that. Had a great birthday dinner with my sister at Baja Cantina. I shared the steak fajitas with my daughter and it was perfect. The tortillas were homemade (delish), the skinny margarita was really tasty and super fresh ingredients, and the service was excellent. Must try if you are in Sequim. read more

We are life long Mexican food lovers from the Southwest. We're always looking for great Mexican food. Our high hopes were dashed once again! Nice atmosphere and even good aromas from the kitchen. Maybe this will be THE PLACE. But, not to be. One positive is-- the refried beans tasted good but they weren't mashed up and were not hot or even warm. Actually- all of our food was COLD on arrival. The rice was partly crunchy, so not fully cooked either. I don't know why our server used a hot pad to deliver cold plates and food? The sad thing is that with a little more effort the food could be great. Our server never checked back with us about our food either. Maybe she knew not to ask? Seriously-- back to Taco Bell we go! The place is a must visit for any Mexican lover visiting the game farm. Good as it can ever get. Friendly people running a place dedicated to great authentic food. Loved every dish here, try their fried ice cream your kids will love you for it. There's half my family in the other room. It's Mother's Day and the restaurant said a max of 10 people can be at a table. We have 11 (2 little kids). So half the family is in the other room. They would not allow the family to be at the tables near us and this room is almost empty. The waitress said she didn't have all day to be moving chairs around. read more

I got a chicken burrito which was covered in so much sour cream, the only thing I could taste was sour cream. I spooned salsa over the sour cream burrito to get some flavor, but sadly the salsa is canned chopped tomatoes with a few onions thrown in. Worst Mexican food ever, but apparently the old folks in Sequim like bland, boring food (like Mariners) so this restaurant is very successful. read more

Was wondering to get for dinner. Saw how many patrons cars were outside and was like hmm this place has got to be good since the parking lot is full. Went in wait just a few minutes to be seated. Instantly got a fresh batch of chips and salsa. I Ordered the chefs sampler and my friends ordered a shrimp chimichangas. Also ordered the queso blanco chips as well ( the pic looked good lol) . For drinks we had the horchata and tried for the first time corona familiar (chefs kiss) what a delicious beer. Our orders came out really fast and the presentation was amazing !!! Peep the pics everything was delicious our waiter was friendly and fast despite how busy the restaurant was. Oh corn tortillas were freshly pressed and hot! So fn good. If I lived in the area I would eat here all time. Prices were reasonable given todays climate. I highly recommend this place and if I'm ever back in area I will stop in again! read more

Was starting to become a regular. Was ordering a medium sized "Fiesta Platter" to go about every other week. On 16 Dec, 2022, I decided to change things up. Ordered two beef fajita salads and a large order of buffalo wings. After waiting quite a while, I was informed that they had to re-do my order because somehow "the computer" inp the order as one beef and one chicken fajita salad. "Good catch", I thought. When I got the order home, the first problem I noticed was that, for the two beef fajita salads, there was but one (1) 2 oz plastic cup (one serving) of salsa. Also, the fajita salads were STILL one beef and one chicken. Honestl, I'm more concerned about the salsa situation. I called and spoke to the owner/manage, Marta. Forget the fact that she wasn't particularly sympathetic or apologetic...she wasn't logical or reasonabl, in my opinion. She informed me that the salsa was given in accordance with their policy: If you place a large enough order ("over $100" she said), then you get a larger bowl of salsa. Under that dollar amount, and you get only one (1) 2 oz cup of salsa, regardless of how many individual entrees are in your order - meaning, if I order four entrees (one for each member of my family)...per policy we'd be sharing one (1) 2 oz cup of salsa unless I asked, and paid for extra. This is opposed to what makes logical sense, e.g., each entree receiving one (1) serving of salsa. Their salsa "logic" does not work for me. Quite stingy. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Avoid it at all costs. Sent two margaritas back for being absolutely sour, waitress told us they are 30%!!! Lime juice. First margarita she gave us Cointreau and triple sec at the table for us to 'fix' our own drinks. WTF. 2nd marg was still extremely limey. Sent it back as well. To top it off, None of the food we ordered was worth the hassle. Fun fact: I've lived in New Mexico and learned how to make fresh tortillas from masa and make fresh burger through a grinder. Nothing about Baja's nachos was fresh or delicious. Chips. Beef. Cheese. Heat long enough to melt cheese. I get it. That was it. However, the chips were coated in old oil. Not rancid but smelly: not delicious. The beef had no character: no pop, no sizzle, cilantro, pepper. Not delicious. The cheese was greasy. Not delicious. The combination of three smelly, neutral and lifeless foods left me wishing I'd gone somewhere else. I don't eat out often and when I do, I need to be glad my money was well spent and not merely glad I'm not doing dishes. We stopped here while we were in Sequim for the lavendar farms. I went here based on the reviews and this place did not disappoint! The chips were warm and the salsa was fresh with alittle spice. I ordered the Baja burrito and asked for it to be spicy, the burrito itself was very good and the side of hot sauce put this restaurant into one of my top Mexican restaurants. The waiter and waitress were very friendly. They explained in the beginning that they were short staffed and the wait could be a bit longer, so we knew what to expect beforehand. Ordered the carne asada for $22. Got a small pile of grilled flank steak without much flavor. At least they were tender. I also ordered a vegetarian fajita that was supposed to come with carrots, guacamole and sour cream but did not. I ordered takeout so this was not evident until I got home. So it came out to $17 for some green peppers, onions, mushrooms, rice, beans, and tortillas. The chips were almost burnt and the salsa that came with them was watery and flavorless. I check this restaurant out every couple of years to see if they've gotten better but they really haven't. I guess you're paying for the decor. read more

Best Mexican food and service in town! Parking is good and the place is airy with seating in booths or well separated tables. We both had chille rellenos that were perfect -- lightly battered with tasty chille pepper, lots of cheese, and a rich sauce. My chalupa was made specially without beans and hubby said his taco with sliced beef was the tastiest he'd ever had. The server was very nice, knowledgeable, and handsome. It moved a few blocks west about a year ago -- this one is near the roundabout near Costco -- don't be fooled by the old photos and address. The food is much better in this location. read more

Very watery salsa, cold chips, luke-warm meal and awful tasting burrito due to shredded beef that was too chewy and soaked in a yucky sauce that didn't compliment a burrito. I'm not sure what everyone that is giving this place 5 stars is eating here or what kind of Mexican food they are comparing this to, but this place is completely sub par. The good news is I got the fajita burrito and was able to crack their recipe! You are welcome. Here you go: take some chicken, not too much. Maybe 1/4 cup and cook it in a shallow pan of boiling water. Be careful not to add any spices or anything. We want to make this as Bland as possible. Once the chicken is just cooked, set it aside and get some green peppers - you know, the most boring pepper there is - and slice it up. Take some mushrooms and just cut them in half. Cook these for about 20 seconds - just enough to get them warm. Add them to the chicken. Don't put any onions in there as that will be too exciting. Put the chicken, green peppers and mushrooms in a tortilla and make sure to get some of the water you cooked the chicken in in there too so the bottom of the tortilla gets nice and soggy. Roll the tortilla up with the stuff in it, but don't fold in the ends of the burrito so all the bland and boring insides can fall out of both ends. Oh, also, put the cheese, sour cream, guacamole, etc... on the outside of the burrito, not the inside, because that is where it should go - traditionally speaking. Viola! That is your Baja Cantina Fajita Burrito! I have eaten a lot of Mexican food. A LOT. This place.... yeah. Not good at all. I would give it another shot and try another burrito like the carnitas or something, but I don't want to spend another $20 on a single burrito. Before tax and tip. Yeah. I'm not kidding. $20 for one burrito. Nope. That is crazy stupid. How do they justify that!?!? Would have given this place maybe 2 stars for the bland and weak food, but since they charged so much for it. Boom. One star. In all 6 specific requests to customize, all repeated back by the guy taking the order. Perfect execution and great taste and good sized portions, packaged well. Hidden charges until you get your receipt which isn't itemized and wonder how your bill came to $60 for two orders of nachos. They only gave us one complimentary 2oz salsa and charged 9.00 for the chips and $4.00 more for the two "extra" 2oz salsas. Guacamole is twice the price of industry standards... so $14 for a side of guacamole. The food was premade and refrigerated, nachos were soggy, cheese previously melted and hard again, and both orders were cold directly out of the fridge and not even reheated. Didn't find out until we got home. Save your money. read more
