Since we were splitting, they were happy to serve half to each of us, and were also able to accommodate my cousin and his food allergies. They had a great selection of whiskey an's all that helped us were knowledgeable and friendly. The space was a good size and they had some tables on the back that looked out over the water. The Old Whiskey Mill was a fantastic dining experience. The food was outstanding. I started with the steak skewers appetizer, which were perfectly cooked and full of Latin flavor. For my main dish, I had the Bistecca French Dip sandwich, and the flavor combination was excellent, especially paired with the rich au jus sauce and crispy Cajun fries. I also enjoyed a local Rayonier beer, which was a great complement to the meal. The restaurant itself was very clean, with cloth napkins and a great drink selection, giving it a nice upscale yet relaxed Puget Sound atmosphere. Five of us went to the newly moved/updated Old Whiskey Mill for a birthday last Friday night and had a great experience. The new space is beautiful and nicely decorated. I had the chicken fettuccine, which was amazing, and everyone else enjoyed their meals, too. Our server, whose name I forget (Second Shift S, per the receipt...), was great and very friendly, as were the rest of the crew working that night. I always enjoyed the Old Whiskey Mill at its former location, and I will miss the sidewalk seating once the weather starts improving, but the new OWM incarnation is fabulous and I can't wait to try the new deck out over the water. read more

I drove 65 miles from Everett WA to Port of Townsend to meet my friend that haven't seen for 30 years . We ordered a burger , salmon Caesar salad , Salmon entree and seafood pasta . All the food qualities were good and flavorable . The only thing I observed was that after the guests left , there was a server pour the left over iced tea into the water jar they served you on the table and then picked up all four dirty glasses by sticking her fingers into them . It's not just gross but also violated the health code . The restaurant is located in busy downtown Townsend, a very popular place for a meal . read more

Updated review; this is the very first time we've left a restaurant before eating there. We were very excited to go to their new location - it's beautifully done! However, they've changed the menu and are even less veggie-friendly (the Frenchman poutine was delicious - but gone now). In the past I've tried their sweet potato burger. It was mushy - burgers shouldn't ooze. Ever. They do now offer a veggie melt - with squash (really? More mushy food?) that just didn't sound appealing. Mini rant: I'd love to see a vegetarian/vegan dish, with any meat substitute, that has texture and flavor (Porta Bella mushrooms, tvp, soy curls, vital wheat gluten - there are too many not to have, at least, one decent option! Even tofu can be made into a sliced "deli meat" substitute that's fantastic in sandwiches!). Restaurants that only offer a weird, flavorless, mushy (to include black beans and lentils) veggie "burger," as their "veggie-friendly option," do little more than scream "I don't know how to cook anything else!" *steps off soapbox* Anyway, the greeter was perfect. Very friendly, polite, & very sweet. The server seemed "new" and wasn't familiar with the menu - but was nice. Still not enough to keep us there. I'm sad. read more

We adore the Old Whiskey Mill. We usually come here after a day of hiking at the Fort Worden trails and along the shore at North Beach. It's always warm, cozy, and beautiful inside (or in their tents outside during COVID). Great whiskey selections of course and very good house wines. The bangers and mash, fish and chips, and poutines are my favorite. Also, the clams bianco, which are amazing. And the servers are always really friendly. Good moscow mules and every first Sunday they do breakfast that always changes. the fish and chips/ artichoke dip..... OMG amazing, their spicy vinegar goes great in the fries and it's a good hotspot for pokemon go. Additional: Caribbean Chicken sandwich, delightfully tasty. sweet, tangy and tasty; to start, the chutney is clearly made with attention to detail for taste/texture; mixed with the melted cheese curds makes a perfect in-between for anyone. Chicken is cooked and seasoned to perfection, fresh veggies add to the flavor. As always, a Moscow mule ties it all back together. Coffees good and they have new happy hour foods yearly update: the salmon was delicious and a BEAUTIFUL presentation. I really enjoy this place. The servers are always very friendly, very fast, and the food is good. I tried the new salmon sandwich last time and it was pretty good. I prefer a stronger sauce/flavor, but it wasn't bad! I LOVE the fried oysters and salmon bisque! Sooo yummy! Having a dog we need to sit outside. Their outside was wonderful with ambience, good spot, and good seating. I don't know about you but sometimes outside seating looks like they threw out a few chairs and a table with no thought about the customer, like we are 2nd class citizens because we may be traveling and cannot leave our dog in the hot car for one. Anyway, off my soapbox yet again.. ha So aside from great outside seating, the menu was awesome. They have special cocktails so I had one of course, very refreshing with gin and cucumber soda etc. Next up, the menu has some imagination going for it. We ordered the cubano with sweet potato fries. During our first visit to Port Townsend, the Old Whiskey Mill was recommended to us, twice, by two separate parties of locals, as a preferring dining spot in town. We didn't have the chance to check it out back then, as we'd already dined elsewhere beforehand. This last weekend, on our return trip, we vowed to find out if the recommendations held water. The weather was perfect that afternoon, and we had our puppers with us, so we requested a table outside, ordered a couple drinks, some bulgogi street tacos, the cubano, and enjoyed the sunshine and light breeze from the bay. Both of our entrées were fantastic, with the cubano being perfectly toasted, tangy and savory thanks to the combination of pickles, dijon and lean ham; not fatty or greasy in the slightest! Similarly, the bulgogi street tacos, when topped with pickled onions and kimchi, had a pleasant heat that complimented the zing of fermented veggies. The meat itself seemed more like seasoned carne asada instead of the usual shredded beef used in actual bulgogi, but the dish didn't suffer as a result of the textural difference: I'd have loved it either way! Our server was competent and friendly, although we didn't see much of her beyond ordering and delivering, but that's just fine with me - we're not very needy, and prefer to be left to our own devices most of the time. There were plenty of other options on the menu that I would have gladly ordered (the Guinness and steak pie would have won out on any other day, but didn't really seem like the right choice for an outdoor lunch on a hot summer day), so a repeat visit is likely in the cards during our inevitable return to Port Townsend in the future! read more

We were a little skeptical going in because online reviews were pretty mixed. But we wanted to watch the Mainers playoff game with the sound on at place that allowed minors and this is where was recommended. We had a great meal! This is a cute destination port town, although I was passing through, I decided to stop and have a meal a lot of friendly locals added to the flavor of the hamlet, the food, I started with the Bulgogi tacos which were wonderful but I didn't get a whole bunch of Bulgogi flavors but still great starters. Had a delicious dinner here last night with friends we hadn't seen for over 5 years. It's a beautiful old building with seating both inside and out in front on the sidewalk. The place was packed! What truly made the reunion special was our waitress Arian. She was so patient with us and so attentive (without being intrusive). We sat and caught up with our friends for over a half hour.. every few minutes Arian came by and asked if we needed anything.. The food was perfect for the occasion. They had smoked chicken alfredo, and I asked if they could substitute smoked salmon for the chicken.. Arian went back to the kitchen and came back smiling saying they would do that! My wife had a beef shepherd pie that was delish! Our friends had fish 'n chips. Also very good. If you are ever in the area, you should give this place a try. You won't be disappointed!! read more

Read many bad reviews and I am guessing it was because the shortage of staff. I would say that is not a problem anymore at least for me going there on a Sunday night. The staff was friendly and we have service pretty quickly. We had duck confit as appetizer. It was great. I love duck. Steak salad was awesome. The salad seems to have a hint of smoked chopped onion flavor. The large piece of steak done perfectly. Smoked chicken fettuccine was also done quite well. Port Townsend's main drag is absolutely adorable. And this restaurant? Also absolutely adorable. The menu is pretty expansive, and there are some really creative burgers. I had the Korean burger with fries, but I got to taste a few other things. Wings, the regular Mill burger, and the oyster po'boy. It was all good, but for the love of all things delicious in the world, get the po'boy. Also, whatever the chipotle aioli is - hoard that. There's a decent selection of beers on tap, and it's nice that they have several local ones. Coming from the other side of the sound, I am used to the Seattle/Bellingham beer scene, and it was really fun to try something else that doesn't quite make it across often. They are dog-friendly outside, which was nice considering we had ours with us. Everyone was friendly, we didn't have to wait, and it was just a really pleasant time in Port Townsend.
