Loved this place! Driving into a small town in northern Washington, we weren't expecting good Mexican food but the girl at the front desk of our hotel recommended we try Baja cantina, it was so good! Random Tuesday night, we were seated right away. Hostess and waitress were very nice. Both kids are allergic to dairy, hubs and I are vegan, 70 year old grandpa is not a big Mexican fan; we all good exactly what we wanted and left with happy tummies. They make everything fresh so they were able to customize the kids non dairy. Good vegetarian menu was easily made vegan. Rice was so simple and yummy, my carb hating dad ate his whole plate. Definitely recommend Baja cantina. Make sure to stop by on your way to the ferry. read more

I went to the new location a couple months ago with some friends. The man that seated us could not have been more unfriendly. I don't recall him saying one word. We greeted him and said three for lunch. He grabbed menus and walked away. Once in the dining room he gestured toward a booth with the menus, set them down - and walked away. The waitress was very pleasant but unfortunately, the food was just okay. There was nothing inviting about this experience that would make me want to return. A shame as the interior is cute but there are better options for Mexican food and certainly places with a far more welcoming atmosphere. read more

I attended a birthday gathering mid week and we had 15-16 people. Someone had called ahead that we'd be coming. When the waiter found out our numbers he said that wasn't allowed. After that he was unfriendly. When was asked about moving a table or chair, he said he wouldn't help. Then he passed us off to a waitress who was also argumentative about the group size. She pointed out that the sign says no groups over 10 but we said we'd called so she said they don't take reservations. I said at least we'd warned them and no one said not to come. She continued to argue, saying they'd get in trouble. She didn't say by whom. The restaurant was not at all busy. She was efficient with order taking but we never saw her again after the food was delivered - no offers to top off drinks or bring more salsa. She didn't smile once the whole time. I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome. I won't be back. read more

Ate here on Mother's Day. The food is excellent. I ordered the Chicken Fajitas. The chicken was so flavorful and the dish had lots of chicken, peppers and onions. I didn't realize that it also came with beans, rice and salad. The portions are very large but so well done. Lots of left overs. The salsa is very fresh tasting and the chips were perfect. The Bartender J***** makes a fantastic Perfect Margarita, props for doing it right. I tasted the house margi that's premixed by the owner and uhh, does orange juice sound good in a margarita? Not so sure I'd recommend it except to frenemies. Carnae Asada Nachos were on the bar board as the Special, but there was no discounted price so not sure what's so special. But it was very tasty good and 1/2 size was just right for my hunger lvl at the time so it has that going for it. Prices seemed high on the menu, most appetizers were around $10 and entrees were higher of course. Not sure if they will stay super busy with upper pricing, but maybe the quality is good enough to justify it. Hard to say, you Yelpers will predict their fate I'm sure. A Perfect Margi, a corona and 1/2 nachos = $25. Give it a try for sure, the location is great and hopefully they survive the long haul. read more

This is our second visit. Came back mostly for the food. It's pretty decent. However the service needs major work. Could never find our waitress. Having to literally do it ourselves and if we wanted to do that might was well just have stayed home. You come to a restaurant for the experience and good food. They clearly were not trained how to properly serve a table. I'm not sure how they are making any tips considering while just sitting here waiting for our waitress other tables are complaining that they can't find their waitress and been waiting for awhile. One worker tried to claim it was low staff and I've worked in the industry for a long time and could run circles around all of them. Train your employees. Seriously it's not rocket science to do this job. Also received the tab and our margarita was $25 for one drink. The tequila that we choose to drink for The whole bottle is $28.99 one shot should not be almost the same amount for the whole bottle. That is way more than a 100% markup and when try to discuss it the the manager they wanted to constantly say we were wrong. And then claim we were in a bad mood coming in. The staff is really accommodating. Laura is very customer oriented and knowledgeable about her restaurant and patrons. She handled a disgruntled elder patron with pure sophistication. She topped off his adult beverage with some more spirit and all was well again in at the Bravo Charlie. I had the menudo. The broth actually tasted like someone took the time to build the flavor. It had pigs feet in it, giving it that sticky collagen feel. The dried chile powder was flavored and colored the broth with a deep red/orange hue. This was the best menudo I've had in WA. The guy in the back who made it, took pride in making this menudo. It was perfect. I'm sure when I go again, someone else would have cooked the menudo and it won't be the same. But, I'm willing to give it a chance anyway. They have really cold Mexican beers on draft. I love when a Mexican restaurant does that. My husband and I were traveling from Ohio. We went there on a Sunday night and they were busy beyond belief! We had around a half hour wait, which was no big deal. When we were seated, we were pleasantly surprised with super fresh salsa. The waitresses were all working their hardest to take care of everyone and were very attentive and friendly! We ordered the queso as an appetizer and it was so thick and yummy and unlike any we've had before. For our meal, we got the chicken fajitas for two and they were amazing. My family and I went out of our way to try and help support this local "mom and pop" restraunt during the pandemic. Ordered takeout for 5+ people each time totalling well over $100 after a very generous tip. Each and every time something was wrong with the order. Cheese on the dish when it was ordered without (allergy issue), beef when chicken was requested, you name it, Baja managed to mess it up. Each time we would write it off as "they are doing their best", not a big deal. We continued to support this establishment up until they started turning their back on the very people who kept them afloat during the shutdown. Now my family and I are treated like some sort of 2nd class, diseased peasants because we have chosen not to be vaccinated. I understand our local idiot health officials have mandated this but the least they could do is try and be professional about. If my money was good enough to take during the lockdown, the least they could do it have a little respect for the customers that held you up. Not another dime from me Baja, you blew it. read more

We reserved their private room (no deposit required), we had two dedicated servers for our group. The dood was excellent. Polling the guests everyone commented favorably. The food was okay and the server was wonderful, but what was really so off-putting about this restaurant was the ignorance of the owner/manager. Before you enter, there is a sign on the door that says "please be patient, we are understaffed because people would rather sit at home on unemployment" which is so arrogant in and of itself. We considered just turning around and not eating there or supporting an owner like that but it was dinner time and it didn't seem worth it. Maybe the food was amazing. It was just ok. I don't think your door is any place to give customers a piece of your mind. It is tacky and extremely inconsiderate of the almost 600,000 people who died in the last year, hence the reason some people are on unemployment and also why there are less people in the workforce. Consider paying people a higher wage and maybe you will be able to find employees, or just leaving your pride at home and being mindful of others. We have been in the Baja on many occasions & found the food to be delicious. We were there last Wednesday with friends & even though the customer service was very good the food was not up to the quality we have experienced in the past. We had to ask for the sour cream, guacamole & tortillas for the fajitas. I didn't have tortillas with my dinner. I asked for the tortillas & was informed I would have to pay for them! My two friends had 4 tortillas with the steak fajitas. I was charged $2.50 for two almost cold hard greasy tortillas. I saw that the restaurant was moving & I don't think I will bother to find out where the new location will be. read more

But I was so happy to find out they'd just switched locations (formerly Jeremiah's BBQ for you locals). My husband and I ate here recently and it was just as delicious as ever. The new location is very attractive. It's bright and airy with lots of windows, skylights and colorful walls. It's an inviting atmosphere minus their customer service (I address this below)... Comfortable seating... The food is very good and taste like it's made with fresh ingredients. Their portions are huge. I went there twice in the past 2 weeks with different friends. The first time I took half the plate home because it was too much for me to eat. The 2nd time my friend and I shared that same entree and each had plenty of food. We were both stuffed. The host brings chips and salsa to the table right away. The food is slightly high in price, but it's quality with huge portions. Their prices are now about average with everything going up... The only negative aspect is their customer service. The man who seats you also takes your order. You aren't greeted when you walk in, and he says nothing more than "Are you ready to order?" None of the wait staff checked on us. We had to ask multiple times for water and salsa refills. On one visit, we waited 10 min for water, but they appeared to be short staffed that one day. I'll definitely continue to eat here. I keep in mind that Covid really affected businesses. Now that they can open for indoor dining again, they're very busy and trying to keep up. This restaurant now seems to have enough staff. Just don't expect superior service or visit when you're short on time, but do expect tasty food with fresh ingredients. I've learned to accept what we get in the small, rural towns on the Olympic Peninsula, and am grateful we have options. read more

First off, I like to support the small family owned restaurants...which is what I did in this case. Sadly, the meal was so awful I'll never ever return! It was basically inedible...and I threw most of it out. I ordered the arrow con pollo, which is pretty much my go to at any Mexican restaurant. This so called 'meal' was by far the worst I've ever had in my life. It had no flavor...little chicken...and was a weird, runny consistency. To make matters even worse, we ordered 2 margaritas to go. Got home took the first sip and it was like they forget that tequila is an ingredient in margaritas. All you could taste was the sweet and sour mix. My bill came to $85 for 2 people. I got the veggie fajitas with homemade corn tortillas and they were awesome!! But my husband got the Camarones a la Crema and the sauce was so thick it was like a gravy. He wasn't a big fan. My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday since we were in Sequim. At first I was pleased with the possibility. Friendly waitress, clean bathrooms, cheery Mexican kitsch decor. But after waiting over 30 minutes for our food to be served, we ended up getting up and walking out. And there were only a handful of other customers in there, so it' snot liked they got slammed. At one point, the waitress came over and apologized, saying the folks in the kitchen were busy "making up big trays." (Not sure for whom because there were no large parties in the restaurant that I could see.) We waited another 10 minutes after that before leaving. Baja Cantina has become a favorite place for me. I love what Baja does with shrimp. Fresh and tasty. I especially enjoy the shrimp tacos - on special during happy hour in the bar. I've ordered the shrimp salad in the dining room a couple of times and was very impressed with the freshness and quantity of the shrimp in my salad - all the way to the bottom of the bowl. The margaritas are special as well. Another customer suggested I try the Perfect Margarita, and it is a bit pricey, but wow - is it ever delicious! read more
