Service was terrible but I'd attribute to young, inexperienced, and untrained. The young lady was pleasantly nice but we essentially had to tell her how to do her job without actually telling her. Things like, telling her we needed napkins and that we needed to get the airport, hoping that would expedite the process. There was another waitress who spent all of her time servicing one table with people who she clearly had a relationship with. It was concerning to see people walk in the door and they revived no assurance or guidance while this young go lady was playing with her family/friends. The food took a while to come out and 25 minutes is entirely too long for soup. The bathroom had a hole cut out in the countertop to drop trash into the wastebasket, but since there was no wastebasket it went straight on the floor. We ordered 3 specialty tacos and 6 street tacos. The specialty tacos had one flavor........SALT! The only bad thing I can say is that my Top Shelf margarita was way sweeter than I expected and not enough tequila in my opinion. That's the end of the bad. Now THE GOOD. EVERYTHING else was fantastic. There is parking in the front and back of the restaurant. The restaurant is a decent size. You can definitely go with a group of friends. The wait staff was superb! I'm basing my review solely on food and service. Walking into this place was a little off putting. The parking lot is tiny, the joint is not a vibe, the patrons made us feel out of place by looks alone and the music was too loud. Definitely not a choice for ambiance or decor but damn that food was amazing! Everything tasted homemade. The kids loved their food too. Arrived on a Sunday around 2:30 pm to have a late lunch. Took a few minutes to get seated after the confusion was settled by the staff. We were seated at an extremely hard, dirty, black picnic style table in the middle of the restaurant where it appears a dj booth would be. We waited 15 minutes for the server to arrive. She didn't know much about the menu and stated she was new, not her fault , she was very sweet, however management needs to spend more time training their employees. After we ordered some cocktails it took another 15 to 20 minutes to get them. Meanwhile the 2 women behind the bar were chatting it up. The drinks were strong. When it came time to order we ordered we ordered the chargrilled oysters as our appetizer. We also ordered a shrimp plate for my 10 year old at the same time we put in the order for the oysters.. The oysters were not good at all. We tried all flavors, none of them were good. We actually enjoyed the bread more than the oysters. After a while we then put in our main dish order and at that time we reminded the waitress about the shrimp plate, she said they are making it. Mind you there were only 5 other tables occupied, with 3 waitresses. When our food arrived after it was cold. When mentioning this to the waitress, she said she would have them remake our food. I also mentioned we didn't get the shrimp plate and that I cannot eat my food until my son's food arrived. When the main dishes came back out, we still never got the shrimp, at this point I am kinda disappointed and asked for the check and only agreed to pay for our drinks, and the oysters We were seated for 2 hours for nothing. I believe the owner needs to educate himself on how a business should be ran. Maybe hire some experienced professionals who've been in the industry a while, spend more time training the employees on the menu & hire a kitchen manager. The customer service was excellent. Went on a Saturday evening. Wasn't busy. My husband got birria tacos and my daughter got steak quesadilla and I got street tacos. I might just b used to more authentic Mexican tacos and this seemed to be altered to satiate American palate. The protein on my tacos was not seasoned well or remarkable. I think this is a new place. Went yesterday on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner. The inside is decent looking. Multiple TV's, a bar, a DJ set up. Parking is in the back. When you walk in there is a waiting area but it's not obvious. They were disorganized with getting people seated & the guy who was seating people was also taking orders. Food came out in a decent time. They were out of a lot of things. No cold drinks, no oxtail, no seafood dip. We ended up getting the ceviche, queso dip, steak quesadilla, mahi mahi fish taco, & crawfish taco. Everything was mid...your typical Mexican restaurant. Nothing special. I first found Baja Nola at their previous location. I absolutely loved everything I have ever tried from there. Since reopening in Kenner, I have been there twice and it is even better than I remembered. We tried the traditional grilled oysters, the Mexican grilled oysters, and the seafood oysters (with crabmeat on top). They were all spectacular. My daughter got the birria tacos and the birria ramen and loved both. I tried the fried shrimp tacos and they were amazing. The staff and proprietor were very attentive and offered great suggestions. My Mexican corn was hot and good but undercooked. I was charged upgrades without knowing that the upgrades would be applied. I canceled my tacos due to the time and lack of flavor to my food. The manager did agree that I should have been notified about the upgrade and he agreed to give me margarita to compensate for the extra charge. When we asked about the rice, the guy said oh we dont have no rice... Okay, so what do we get in place of it?" He said nothing. Okay... Sirplease take it back. The drinks were good, so that is a plus. Oh, and for the spoiled baja cerviche... she exchanged it for guacamole. What are they thinking?
